In our Lower School (JK to Eight), an enriched blend of Cambridge, Ontario and Core Knowledge curricula ensures that our students have the worldly knowledge and skills to succeed at school and beyond. We boast an enriched Arts program, in which all students learn the violin from Grade One.

Our Upper School (Nine to Twelve) teaches a unique curriculum blending Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels into Ontario courses. The combination of Ontario Secondary School Diploma and the Cambridge qualifications gives students a jump start to their university studies.

Fieldstone School (JK to Twelve) is a prestigious private school with a caring atmosphere. In this rigorous and culturally-enriching school environment, Fieldstone is celebrated for its challenging curriculum, small-class size, individualized care and excellent teachers and staff, attracting many students from local distinguished families and various countries abroad. Fieldstone consists of an Upper School (Fieldstone King’s College School) and a Lower School (Fieldstone Day School) sharing one beautiful 6.4 acre facility in Toronto.

Dear Fieldstone Students, Parents, and Guardians:

It is my sincere pleasure to welcome all of you to the 2015 – 2016 academic year. Your family is embarking on a wonderful journey along with the Fieldstone School staff that will result in a happy, successful child.

You and your child have so much to look forward to this year. Our programmes offer a structured environment to monitor your child’s progress, provide support and guide your child to excel. Through quarterly reports, you will learn of your child’s progress both academically and behaviourally as the year progresses. Our after-school and lunch tutorial programmes will ensure your child has the support he/she needs to be successful. Finally, our dynamic Ontario-Cambridge curriculum will provide your child with opportunity to earn world renowned IGCSE and A Level qualifications. We believe that all children have the ability to achieve great things and have developed an academic programme that will challenge students of all abilities.

We believe that the future leaders of tomorrow must be well adjusted to the emerging globalized community. To prepare our students, we offer opportunities for our students to learn international languages and cultures in an immersion environment. Our English as a Second Language, French and Chinese language students are supported with industry renowned Rosetta Stone software to give them the opportunity topractice their speaking and listening skills outside of class. Our English-Chinese reciprocal peer-tutoring programme gives our students the opportunity to establish friendships with native speakers to improve language mastery. Our students are taught the cultural literacy they will need as they enter a cosmopolitan workforce.

Each student at Fieldstone is known, cared for, and understood. Our small classes give teachers and students the opportunity to really get to know and respect one another. Not only do teachers and students spend time together during class hours, they spend countless hours together in clubs, sports teams, tutorials and class trips. That is why our graduates continue to visit us years after graduation – Fieldstone is not just a place to learn academics, it is a place where children grow into adults under the guidance and care of passionate educators.

DAILY TUTORIAL SUPPORT

Students receive extra support before and after school through teacher led tutorials. Under teacher guidance, students catch-up on missed work, study for tests and prepare for Cambridge exams.

QUARTERLY STUDENT REPORTS

To ensure that parents are up-to-date on their child’s progress, we provide parents with progress reports in addition to midterm and final reports. Further, we provide weekly reports for students for who would benefit from more frequent feedback. We believe in effective communication to ensure concerns are addressed as soon as possible.

CAREER PLANNINGFieldstone uses Career Cruising to help students identify their strengths and interests. Through the building of a personal portfolio and taking various interest tests, students are able to make educated decisions about which careers would suit them and what courses they should take to take them there.

INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGES

Our emerging cosmopolitan world has made an education in international languages even more essential. Fieldstone offers French as a second language and Chinese as an international language in addition to co-curricular language clubs that have included Spanish, Latin, Berber and Hebrew. All of the languages we offer are supported with Rosetta Stone language software and expert teachers to ensure students get the most out of our programming.

Fieldstone’s 6.4 acre facility gives our small school community a big school feel. Our science lab, gymnasium, stage, basketball courts, soccer fields and arts studio provides students with limitless co-curricular opportunities.

OUR CURRICULUMCambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary I are comprehensive, challenging and dynamic curricula in English, Science and Mathematics that are designed for the global educational context and form the basis of our curriculum in these subject areas. Other subjects are developed through a synthesis of Ontario, Core Knowledge and AIM French curricula to ensure students have a strong foundation in both a Canadian and an international context.

Through the Cambridge programme, Fieldstone students can measure their achievements against thousands of other children at elite schools throughout the world. At every stage, students write end of year progression examinations developed by Cambridge International Examinations. Students in Grades 5 and 8 write programme culminating Checkpoint exams that are marked by the Cambridge International Examinations, the results of which can be compared to schools and students worldwide. A Cambridge education develops students who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged attributes that fit perfectly within the Fieldstone environment.

“FIELDSTONE OPENS FORTHE TORONTO BLUE JAYS!”

In 2014, Fieldstone Day School was invited to perform the national anthems prior to the Toronto

Blue Jays Game. Fieldstone students excelled performed brilliantly and were invited back for

another year. We are proud to say this has become a Fieldstone tradition!

A comprehensive education in music significantly enhances the overall creativity and academic development of our students.

From Grade One, all Fieldstone students learn to play the violin or cello and by Grade Four, students learn to read from traditional treble and bass clef notation, and the focus shifts to playing with more sophisticated technique and better tone quality.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award empowers young people to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.

At Fieldstone, every student is registered in the award programme and is actively working on his or her Bronze, Silver or Gold level award.

Fieldstone teaches unique blend of Cambridge-Ontario curricula. Our courses are designed to prepare students for IGCSE and A Level examinations and count towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Leading universities worldwide value and recognize Cambridge qualifications as evidence of academic ability. Students who wish to take on the additional challenge of earning Cambridge qualifications are supported through after class tutorials where explore much deeper into the subject and prepare for Cambridge examinations. Our unique approach gives students the opportunity to extend their knowledge while ensuring courses are inclusive an accessible to all of our students. The result is that all of our students are given the support to achieve their potential and have the opportunity to build a competitive university application.

OUR CURRICULUMUNIVERSITY

COUNSELLINGStudents begin planning for university as soon as they enter Fieldstone by creating and updating an Individual Pathway Plan each year until graduation. In Gr. 11 students are invited to participate in university application workshops, the university fair and attend presentations from visiting universities. Our guidance team provides individualized support to ensure each student explores all post-secondary options and can secure admission to his or her top choice.

With 345 Fieldstone alumni studying in Canada, USA and abroad, we have the experience to ensure our graduates have the competitive edge in being admitted to the best universities.
