FERTI ‑BOX

The FERTI ‑BOX is a universal pressure hopper primarily designed for direct application of fertilisers into soil horizons. Nutrients can be applied as a reserve; the root system is nourished during vegetation. Thanks to the permanent nutrition, the overall vitality of plants significantly increases and they cope with stress effects such as drought or a very wet season much better. The combination of the soil reserve nutrition and deep cultivation verifiably promotes higher yield in most crops. Ferti ‑Box also allows applying the starting batch of nutrients into top soil profiles when the hopper is combined with the Swifter seedbed cultivator, the short SwifterDisc cultivator or directly during sowing after the coulters of the Omega seed drill.

Ferti ‑Box hoppers are also very good for fast and cost efficient establishment of green manure vegetation. The combination of a Ferti ‑Box with, for example, the SwifterDisc cultivator provides fast establishment of a catch crop, such as mustard, on a large scale.

AGRONOMIC ADVANTAGES OF THE MACHINE

• Increase in the land capability by supplying the missing nutrients based on diagnostics of soil analyses.

• Application of reserve fertiliser into deeper soil profiles. Continuous nutri‑tion of plants during vegetation.

• Application of starter fertiliser to speed up the emergence rate of veg‑etation and nutrition of young plants that do not accept nutrients easily.

• Possibility to select the application depth in comfort and speed based on the agronomic needs.

• Increased mobilization of nutrients and accessibility of nutrition by the root systems, verifiably greater vitality of plants.

• Application of the hopper for the establishment of vegetation for green manure.

• Use of the hopper for filling the seed drill.

MAIN ADVANTAGES OF THE MACHINE

• Low number of refills thanks to the large‑volume hopper.

• Stainless feeding mechanism with electric drives allows for changes in the application rate according to the agronomic needs.

• The pressure hopper substantially increases the accuracy of the required rate.

• Air feed of material (fertiliser/seeds) from the feeding mechanism to the soil.

• Possibility to apply two types of fertiliser thanks to two feeding mech‑anisms (model FB 3000).

• The application rate is controlled by the ISOBUS system.

• Connectivity to navigation systems.

“We have cooperated with leading farms on increasing the yield potential of the individual crops for several years. Our experience has repeatedly confirmed increased crops and quality of the final plant products when the missing elements were added to the soil based on soil analyses. The combination of direct soil nutrition with deep cultivation gives excellent results.”

Deep cultivation with the application of nutrition into the soil profile brings excellent results

The Terraland chisel ploughs break down compacted layers, enhance air in the soil and support the moisture regime. When Ferti‑Box is connected directly after the Terraland ploughshares, fertiliser (N, P, K, Mg, S) is applied into the pre‑set depth of the soil profile. The combination of deep cultivation and basic fertilisation into the soil creates a favourable soil environment for the growth of a corresponding rich root system which can intensely and effectively nourish the above‑ground part of the plant.

Compacted and blocked soil is like concrete. That means zero or reduced capability of water infiltration in the case of torrential rain. Such soil does not let the root system grow deeper to reach moisture at the deeper layers in cases of drought.

Deeply loosened soil without a compacted layer works like a “fun‑gus”. Such soil is capable of receiving a corresponding quantity of rainfall. Corn roots can effectively receive moisture from the bottom layers of soil at the time of droughts.

Trial Method

The pilot trial of monitoring the effects of various types of soil processing on the dynamics of the growth and nutrition of winter rape was located in the area of the foothills of the Orlické Mountains. The technologies compared were conventional soil processing, deep loosening and deep loosening with the application of fertiliser into the soil profile. The comparison was performed on plots where the primary type of soil processing was tillage to a depth of 25 cm and deep loosening at 40 cm with application of fertiliser to a depth of 25 cm of the soil profile.

Conclusion

Liming and fertilisation P+K increased the pH and content of acceptable P and K in the arable land. The plot that was loosened, limed and fertilised with P and K had the highest content of mineral N (Nmin) and water soluble S (Svod) in the arable soil as well as the highest content of N even in the deeper sublayer.

The plot that was loosened, limed and fertilised with P and K had the highest nutritional condition of plants N, Ca, Mg and S

The cultivated plot showed higher nutrition of Mg and lower nutrition of S during the entire vegetation regardless of fertiliser appli‑cation when compared with the ploughed plot.

As for the structure of the crop, the best results were on the plot that was loosened, limed and fertilised with P and K as against tillage:• seed crop +17 %,• straw crop +49 %,• HTS +2 %,• number of seeds per area (pc/m2) +13 %,• number of plants per m2 +14 %.

After chisel loosening, more abundant growth of plants thanks to the increased mobilisation of nutrients and improvement of the moisture regimes in the soil. Agro-biological control of trials on 28 /11/2014

Trial Method

The growing number of bio‑gas stations in the last few years has brought along an increased demand for energy corn. The objective of the operators of bio‑gas stations is to grow corn with the highest dry matter yield and a high gas yield. Therefore, BEDNAR has been testing the technology of fertiliser appli‑cation together with companies operating biogas stations. We performed a pilot trial on the property of one such company in Svitavská Pahorkatina where we monitored the effect of various types of soil processing on the dynamics of the growth, development and nutrition of maize. We compared con‑ventional soil processing technology and deep loosening with fertiliser application into the soil profile. Altitude 454 meters above sea level

23/4/2015 seeding (seeding amount 95,000 specimens)

The plants on both plots processed by the Terraland chisel plough had a rich root system in the corresponding vertical architecture with rich lateral root hairs. In Variant 1 there was a visible efficient growth of roots into deeper layers (on the left)

The root system of plants from the plot processed by standard tillage is shallow with a simple architecture of the root system when compared with the variants processed by the Terraland chisel plough.

Conclusion

The deep chisel cultivation allowed application of fertilisers (N‑P) which promoted the growth of the roots of the maize vertically, “into the deep”, improved P nutrition (slightly N) and promoted the use of moisture from deeper layers of the soil profile. It supported tolerance to drought in the year that was low in precipitation.

After deep loosening with and without the application of N‑P fertiliser, the yield of dry forage was higher by 63 %, or 58 % respec‑tively, when compared with the control tillage soil processing.

After deep loosening with and without the application of N‑P fertiliser, the yield of starch was also verifiably higher, i.e. by 98 %, or 91 %, respectively.

Recommendations

Regular phosphorus and potassium fertilisation has a positive effect on the crop, not only for sugar beet.

The incorporation of the NP fertiliser at a depth of 20 cm increased the crop and in some cases also the sugar content of the roots at the monitored plots.

The nutrition of plants from the soil is the main and most important form of nutrition. An effective nutrition of crops from the soil environment is facilitated by modern methods applying fertiliser into the soil profile separately into levels, i.e. to facilitate growth and germination of plants (“under shoe” fertilisation of seed during seeding) as well as to continuously nourish plants (deeper fertilisation into the profile according to the architecture of the root system) during vegetation by placing reserve fertiliser into the deeper soil layers.

FERTI ‑BOX FB_F is a front, mounted, single‑chamber hopper designed primarily for precise fertilisation directly into the soil profile. Ferti ‑Box FB_F is aggregated with a tractor into the front hydraulics of category II/III. The material (fertiliser/seeds) is delivered pneumatically behind the tractor to another machine (Terraland TN, Swifter, Row ‑Master, SwifterDisc, Omega etc.). The Ferti ‑Box FB_F is a pressure hopper! This solution increases the accuracy of batching, particularly in fertilisers that are more demanding on distribution. The advantage of the Ferti ‑Box FB_F hopper is a very good view from the tractor cabin of the vegetation and the road.

FERTI ‑BOX FERTI ‑BOX

The Ferti ‑Box pressure hoppers provide precise batching and the possibility to feed higher volumes

The Ferti ‑Box hoppers are designed so that overpressure is created in the hopper. This structural solution provides the following advantages:

• significantly higher accuracy of set batches• possibility to apply a bigger batch of fertiliser• possibility to apply fertilisers of lower quality

The created pressure pushes the fertiliser into the feeding mechanism.

*Some functions are available for an extra charge and may require additional equipment

Ferti ‑Box hoppers can be controlled by the IsoBus system. When the tractor is not equipped with IsoBus, the hopper can be controlled by two types of terminals:

• Economical alternative for controlling the seed drill and Ferti ‑Box

• Easy and fast installation in the tractor cabin

• The terminal has a 3.5" colour display

• Main functions of the machine can be easily controlled by keys on the keyboard

• The terminal can only be used for selected types of machines

EASY CONTROL INCLUDING ISOBUS

• Easy installation with a professional wiring harness for tractors

• CCI. Control ‑ fast and easy documentation and management of orders directly in the tractor*

• CCI. Courier ‑ fast and reliable data transfer into the computer in the office using a flash disc, Bluetooth, WI‑FI or GSM*

• FieldNav – easy navigation of machines in the field*

• Farmpilot – control and planning of several machines on‑line via the Internet*

• CCI. Tecu – monitoring basic tractor data*

• CCI. Cam – monitoring the surroundings of the tractor using cameras*

• Weather ‑ current weather forecast available in the tractor*

FERTI ‑BOX FERTI ‑BOX

Efficient and precise feeding mechanism

The feeding mechanism of the Ferti ‑Box machines is manufactured from stainless steel and driven by an electromotor equipped with a radar sensor or ISOBUS signal available in the tractor.

The feeding mechanism provides highly precise feeding of the fertiliser/seeds ranging from 0.6 to 350kg/ha.

The system is equipped with a discharge shutter for perfect emptying of the hopper.

Connectivity of Ferti ‑Box to navigation systems

Ferti ‑Box hoppers are compatible with the IsoBus system that also allows their direct connection to the tractor and its navigation.

• Automatic shutdown of feeding at headlands.• Together with the "Variable Rate Application" system, Ferti ‑Box also offers the option of variable rate application based on application

maps in the system of precise farming.

FERTI ‑BOX CAlIBRATION

The required batch is set easily and quickly right below the feeding mecha‑nism. The required value is set in the terminal controlling Ferti ‑Box after test.

DISTRIBuTION HEADS

The distribution heads are usually located on the machine from where the fertiliser/seeds get into the soil profile after the working sections of the soil‑processing machine.

Machine Control and Settings Connectivity

The plot with deep loosening with fertiliser application into the soil profile showed verifiably higher starch yield – by 98 % against the tilled plot (control)

Distribution End Pieces

TERRAlAND DISTRIBuTION END pIECES

The end pieces are adjustable. They can change the depth of the fertiliser application. The double‑cham‑ber Ferti ‑Box FB 3000 allows the application of two types of fertiliser at two different depths.

OMEGA DISTRIBuTION END pIECES

The Ferti ‑Box hopper can also be used for precise application of fertiliser into inter‑rows or in the rows. The fertiliser is distributed from the Ferti ‑Box to the end pieces located on the adjustable coulters of the Omega seed drill. An ideal combination for the spring crops and the winter rape. The standard seed drill without fertilisa‑tion is light and simple. This solution is a clever replacement of the compli‑cated and heavy machines with fertilisation.

FENIX DISTRIBuTION END pIECES

They are end pieces that are able to fertilise the en‑tire soil profile thanks to the maximum overlap of the ploughshares. The end pieces cover the wings of the Fenix cultivator chisels.

WIDE DISTRIBuTION END pIECES

Fertilisers can also be applied from the hopper to the wide side, for example, in the working sections of the Swifter seedbed cultivators that mix the fertiliser with the top soil layer. The fertiliser then acts as a starting fertiliser. It is also possible to apply fertilisers or seeds to the Swifter‑Disc cultivators in a similar way.
