Organizer ShipPax Information – BOLT – www.shippax.se - [email protected]

Dear Friends,

We are truly happy to see so many participants onboard COLOR MAGIC today – in fact, a new record number of delegates!

With Color Line as the host for the second time, we know this is going to be a success event. Even so, the important thing is that we meet. The remarkable responses to the Ferry Shipping Conference reveals that this industry wants to get together to discuss joint opportunities and policies. We have been running a waiting list already since end January!

Finding the right ship for this event is not easy. It has to be a ferry with some 320 cabins or so, with the same capacity in an auditorium, and with this number of seats in a restaurant! But we are pleased to inform you that we have found a new ship for our 2009 conference, when we will sail the NAPOLEON BONAPARTE between Marseille – Bastia – Marseille. In other words, for the first time, we are turning to Mediterranean. We sincerely hope that this will be an attractive change, but must keep you alerted that due to above mentioned criterias, we have to get used to being in the Baltic for most of the future events. With an exception or two, that is.

The aim of this conference, like the past, is to discuss joint issues and to network. In order to maximise the outcome of the conference, please:

• Participate in the Question & Answer sessions, as well as in the Interactive Debate (be prepared to get questioned!)• Get to know new friends in the industry. • Help to strengthen the position and importance of the ferry shipping industry, and spread the message that we

together carry more than 1.6 billion passengers and 31 million trailers – every year!

As a matter of courtesy towards fellow passengers and our host, Color Line, please respect the “No Smoking” policy in designated areas onboard!

We all look forward to having a nice time together. Should you have any comments or feedback, including suggestions on improvements for next year’s event, let us hear it.

Welcome aboard!

Aker Yards is Europe’s largest shipbuilding group and one of the world’s four largest shipbuilders. Customers worldwide rely on Aker Yards to design and build future-oriented, innovative, market-tailored, and competitively priced vessels. Sophisticated vessels for the demanding markets for cruise ships, ferries, merchant vessels, as well as offshore and specialized vessels, are the core of the extensive product range built at the Group’s 18 shipyards in eight countries.

Brax Shipping, established in January 1982, is an independent shipbroking company. We aim to engage our clients in close, long-lasting business relationships based on our proven ability to guide to successful and profitable solutions. We are specialized in the ferry, RoRo and cruise vessel segments and our accumulated knowledge renders us a unique position and we are considered to be among the leaders within our niche.Extensive knowledge of our markets, market actors and technology combined with a vast international network enables us to provide information and know-how to actively support the entire process from decision making via negotiations to the finalization and follow-through of an acquisition or a charter.Focusing on sale & purchase and chartering of vessels has allowed us to build a solid base of world-wide clients among ship owners, operators and charterers. In addition, the contracting of newbuildings with shipyards as well as the challenging task of scrapping assignments has given us a full perspective of all commercial aspects of a vessel’s life cycle. In addition, we utilize our knowledge through advisory consultations and valuations for banks, lawyers, and financing institutions. Our background is mainly from ship owning companies, a fact we believe helps us identify opportunities for our clients – both present and prospective.

Jon BOYCE([email protected])Jon is a qualified naval architect, graduating in 1978 from London Uni-versity. This became even more focussed when he subsequently lived in Scandinavia, working for several ro-ro operators. Since 1989, his own consultancy company has specialised in the ro-ro sector, often co-operating with Klas Brogren at ShipPax Information. Now based in London, Sea Highways has been responsible for the design of a number of short sea ro-ro vessels and the study of new routes. Klas BROGREN([email protected])ShipPax Information moved its office last year, one reason claimed to be that Klas could then take his bike between home and office. So – the re-sult? Well, with that poor Swedish summer, he still believes he is excused for not exceeding 20 times. Then he returned to his hometown to become a partner in Marine Trading which for many years held the management contract for Prince of Fundy Cruises as well as Scarlett Line. As the need of market information expanded, he devel-oped this in his own company Plus 2 Ferryconsultation AB, which later registered ShipPax Information as its marketing name. Apart from the publications, CRUISE & FERRY Info, GUIDE, DESIGNS and MARKET, the company is also offering tailor-made consulting or evaluations.
