Here we go again!
Now a few changes have been forced upon us. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the previous beer festivals and the sheer number of people coming down, it has becomenecessary to put a cap on the amount of thirsty scholars that we have in the festival, in order for us to promote a more comfortable environ-ment for everyone to enjoy the festival. For this reason, a minimal door fee has been introduced to pay for the extra security measures and infrastructure costs, although entry is still free on Thursday and Sunday. The return of the specialist keg and beer bar will see a ‘top of the taps’ rundown of excellent emerging craft keg brewers such as Mad Hatter Brewing Company, supplying interesting craft kegs like their Smoked Bacon & Banana Beer. The beer hall has new improved seating areas with added heating, if the beer isn’t already keeping you toasty.
In the beer halls we have plenty of barrels, such as the Arbor Brewery’s beautiful ‘Why Kick A Moo Cow’, a big, malty New Zealand pale ale. Sit back and enjoy! We’ve also added more benches and comfortable warm places for you to sit and soak up the atmosphere.
All this thirsty work will give you an appetite, so the Smokehouse Chefs from The Ferret will be serving up a BBQ Bonanza in their unique smokehouse style. Team Ferret have been working hard to create more Vegan & Vegetarian options for your tastebuds this time.
For this edition of the festival, the live music marquee is reborn as the Heineken Music Stage, seeing sets from Star Wars inspired rhythm & blues act Blues Harvest, acclaimed Scot-tish psychedelic band The Fast Camels, and Leicester’s Not My Good Arm bringing funky alternative rock with brass and attitude. Add to this some popular local acts like Skinny Wrist Gumbo, Fighting and Moon & the Beams, some laid back jazz in the Sunday afternoon with the Silver Bell Band, and wall-to-wall DJ sets from The Funky Onion and you have all the makings of a party you’ll never forget. This Beer Festival is also an extra day wide on your calendar and an extra half hour long every day! Enjoy!
Well, here we are... The Continental’s 15th Beer Festival has just swung into life and has a great lineup of beer, cider, music and general conviviality. We’ve squeezed in more drinks than you can shake a pint glass at, with a range of over 150 cask beers, specialist keg, craft beers, ciders and perrys for you to try. Master brewers from all over the land have been busy creating tipples aplenty for your quaffing pleasure.

How it works
To buy cask beer and cider from the beer halls, tokens must be purchased from one of the beer hall counters - cash will not be accepted in the beer halls. Our staff aren’t allowed to accept it, so please don’t ask There are two different types of tokens; one for Cider (which can be used for beer at the Big Beer Bar), and one for Ale; both tokens are priced differently. Please buy the right tokens for the drink you want. The tokens are not interchangeable. The tokens are not interchangeable in the beer halls. Tokens are purchased at the entry counters to the beer halls - not in the room. There is no glassware in the beer halls. Festival glasses must be purchased with your tokens at the Beer Halls’ entry counters. There is a £2 deposit on your glass, which can be taken away with you and kept as a souvenir. You will be given a deposit token which you must keep if you wish to retrieve your deposit. Plastic pint glasses are available if you want a pint rather than a half.
Your £2 deposit can be retrieved upon safe return of your glasses with the deposit tokens. Deposits will not be refunded if you lose/break your glass. To prevent theft of other people’s glasses, deposits will also not be returned if you do not have your deposit token. CASH and TOKENS can be used in the Big Beer Tent in the garden marquee. Tokens can only be used for festival products, not standard lagers, wine, spirits etc. here. Beer Tokens CANNOT be used on the main bar. Please only buy the tokens you need - Tokens cannot be refunded once bought. All beers and ciders are colour coded to match the tokens used for them. This colour coding is displayed in this book and on the front of each barrel. All the strong ales are located in the outdoor marquee. Beers at the big beer bar can be bought with cash or a combination of cash and tokens. Tokens will not cover the full price of beers on this bar and can only be used as discount off the full price
