Fernand Létourneau, a Bell retiree with a big heart! We had the pleasure of a visit from a noble and big-hearted man on Valentine’s Day, Fernand Létourneau. An employee with Bell Canada for 30 years, from 1966 to 1996, Mr. Létourneau is retired but still keeping very busy. He has been involved with the organization Development and Peace for 20 years now, where he is the President of a volunteer committee that conducts various educational and fundraising activities to help the world’s poor and disadvantaged. Throughout the years and annual campaigns, Mr. Létourneau has coordinated special activities that have raised several hundred thousand dollars. One activity, “La Fêtes des Nations,” has been held in Brossard four times now. A celebration of the city’s cultural diversity and a fundraising opportunity for Development and Peace, the municipality now holds the event annually. Mr. Létourneau believes in community action and the possibility of building a world that is more just by helping the poor and disadvantaged through small acts. He has received two awards for his volunteer commitment and dedication: the Medal of the National Assembly, and the Order of Merit from the Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil.
