ECOTEL® was developed by HVS in association with the Rocky Mountain Institute, USA with the help of engineering and hospitality experts. It has now been revised to include the SF Green Business Program’s guide for hotels and restaurants, the most vigorous standard for the hospitality industry in the United States, and is pending the United Nations’ GSTC ratification. It is an environmental certification that enables hotels to enhance their profits by being truly green, socially responsible, and sustainable over the long term by involving the entire value chain of owners, architects, operators, employees, suppliers and hotel guests.

employing: – Onsite visits,

– Staff interviews,

– Auditor observations, and

– Hospitality industry experience-based simulations.

• These measures are both engineering and technology based, as well as behavioral.

• This report calculates primary fiscal and environmental impacts such as financial savings on utility bills and direct environmental impacts such as emissions.

About Ecotel

19

water

Monitoring of water should be done to understand consumption patterns

Day-to-day submetering has been done that has enabled an understanding of seasonal and monthly trends. Also opportunities for reduction have been made possible by this data that has been generated. This serves as our baseline since there was no such analysis before.

Natural pesticides should be used

Hotel is following this regularly and has stopped usage of DDT, which contaminated ground water.

Low-flow rate fixtures to be used

Hotel has maintained fixtures at 30o angle, which reduces flow rate and also set the three-setting button to medium flow rate.

Use recycled water for landscaping

Hotel is actively using recyled water for all outdoor areas except the fountain as that will deteriorate the quality of the granite.

STP should be made functional That has been done

Reduce RO connections This has been reduced for washing
