Changes to 2020 Central Montana Fair
Over the past three months we have met with all our 4-H Council Committees and our 4-H Leaders Council. We had posted and advertised meeting agendas with topic of making chang-es to the entry requirements for the 4-H/FFA division that might include not allowing entries from outside of Fergus/Petroleum County.
After gathering input and suggestions from all the attendees at those meetings, changes we have made to the 4-H Static and the 4-H/FFA Livestock Division are listed below:
The 4-H/FFA Jr. Livestock Sale at the Central Montana Fair is restricted to youth enrolled in a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter in Fergus/Petroleum County, with the exception of a Market Animal that wins Grand or Reserve that is owned and shown by a 4-H or FFA member from Judith Basin, Wheatland, Musselshell/ Golden Valley, Phillips, Blaine, or Chouteau County.
Market Animals entered by 4-H and FFA Members from Judith Basin, Wheatland, Mus-selshell/Golden Valley, Phillips, Blaine, and Chouteau County Youth must send documentation that provides proof of ownership and possession of the animals on or before; Feb. 1- Beef, May 1- Swine, June 1- Sheep, Goats, Poultry and Rabbits. This documentation must be mailed to the Fergus County Extension Office between May 1 and June 1.
What do these changes mean? 4-H and FFA youth from the listed counties are still wel-come and encouraged to enter in all categories of the 4-H Static and 4-H/FFA Livestock Divisions, including market classes. Members from outside Fergus-Petroleum Counties will not be required to meet the in-county weigh-and-tag deadlines, but when entering the fair, will need to provide proof they have owned the animal since the deadlines listed above (paperwork from their home county will suffice). The biggest change is that members outside of Fergus-Petroleum County will only be able to sell a market animal if they receive Grand or
Reserve.
