E R N S T & Y O U N G ( E Y ) THE CHALLENGE Clients often ask us for something a little bit different to help them stand out from the crowd. In the case of multi-national professional services firm EY, we were tasked with producing a series of innovative presentations to engage and excite prospective clients fed up with ‘traditional’ Powerpoint pitches.

OUR SOLUTIONEY wanted to avoid giving prospective clients ‘slide fatigue’ when pitching for key contracts. To avoid this de-energising affliction, we threw out the Powerpoint and combined EY content with fast-paced motion graphics to create three captivating animated video presentations.

We took responsibility for every element, from scripting and storyboarding, to animation and post-production, and frequently collaborated closely with EY to ensure their satisfaction with the final outputs. Using our animated pitches, EY secured three new contracts with major international insurance clients with a value in excess of £10 million.

THE CHALLENGEHeld in an exciting new location every year, the Fairmont, Raffl es and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts’ (FRHI) Global Meeting Exchange (GME) is a world renowned luxury travel and event planning conference.

Ahead of this year’s event, FRHI approached Fellows Media to produce an inspiring promotional micro-site to engage and inform prospective delegates and give them a fl avour of the 2014 host city, Abu Dhabi.

OUR SOLUTIONExtraordinary events require extraordinary promotion, and innovation was our watchword when it came to producing the micro-site for GME 2014. Striving for elegance and simplicity, we abandoned traditional web design in favour of an eye-catching, single-page scrolling parallax website which incorporated live video sections.

With an elegant black, blue and silver colour scheme, and design inspired by Islamic shapes and patterns, the new site provided conference delegates with a user-friendly and visually appealing window on the world of GME.

THE CHALLENGERenowned amongst foodies around the globe, the two-Michelin star Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons hotel contacted Fellows Media for help promoting its steller events programme and world famous Raymond Blanc Cookery School.

OUR SOLUTIONLe Manoir aux Quat’Saisions’ marketing team required a rapid, easy-to-use method for keeping their expanding database of clients informed of upcoming events, with a view to increasing bookings for rooms and restaurant tables. Working closely with them, and paying close attention to Belmond corporate guidelines, we created two stunning email templates with specially tailored ‘easy-edit’ features to help them get their messages out and record recipients’ responses. We even provided essential training on location to help the team send their own email campaigns in future – and win even more business for this highly successful hotel!

THE CHALLENGEThe sales team at the luxurious, fi ve-star Fairmont The Palm hotel needed a fl exible, high-quality presentation to sell the many advantages of this elegant Dubai resort to both business and leisure travellers. Enter Fellows Media and our cutting edge ‘zooming’ Prezi solution!

OUR SOLUTIONWe used Prezi, an innovative online software solution that allows users to dynamically ‘zoom’ in and out of content and ‘fl y’ around a presentation space, to create a series of dynamic and exciting presentations for The Palm. Using high defi nition pictures of the hotel and live-action video sequences, we produced several brief presentations tailored to specifi c target markets. The Prezi format allows The Palm’s sales team to effortlessly showcase the hotel’s amenities in a quick, eye-catching and engaging way.

THE CHALLENGEThe route to joining the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) was perceived as overly complex and a deterrent to prospective members. Set with ambitious targets to increase membership, RICS engaged Fellows Media to help them simplify their offering and attract new blood.

OUR SOLUTION We helped RICS simplify its recruitment messages without ‘dumbing them down’, and partnered this more concise language with engaging visuals to create a range of new recruitment materials. As a result of our work, which over the last fi ve years has ranged from direct mail campaigns, html email campaigns, interactive presentations, iPad applications, video and microsites, RICS now communicates with prospective members in a more appropriate and engaging way.

But how to market the hotel effectively to a disparate clientele of local families and business people, national and international travellers and a large, multi-cultural ex-pat community?

OUR SOLUTIONWith a diverse clientele and a wide range of events, offers and facilities to promote, the Fairmont Baku, Flame Towers needed help communicating its varied offering while maintaining a strong corporate identity. Since it’s opening, our design team has worked closely with the hotel to produce a steady stream of marketing materials for a wide range of events – from business package promotions to exclusive jazz evenings and themed restaurant nights. Our creative approach has made fantastic-looking fl yers, posters and advertisements the hotel’s stock-in-trade, while our respect for corporate style ensures consistency.

THE CHALLENGEButterfly Conservation’s magazine was struggling with its aim of highlighting the plight of butterflies and moths to the scientific community and general public. A revamp was required to increase interest and push the title’s important conservation message to a wider audience.

OUR SOLUTIONWe combined stunningly beautiful nature photography and engaging copy from sought-after contributors to create a vibrant and colourful new magazine layout that carries the organisation’s conservation message with authority. Advertising generated by Fellows Media ensures the publication remains cost-effective, and a delighted Butterfly Conservation has since commissioned us to produce new marketing materials for them!

THE CHALLENGEResponsible for producing myriad publications, and with a burgeoning online presence and more than 30 regional branches, Butterfly Conservation required a set of ‘user-friendly’ brand guidelines to ensure a consistent corporate style across its many marketing materials.

OUR SOLUTIONAs long standing designers of Butterfly magazine – Butterfly Conservation’s flagship publication – we used our extensive knowledge of graphic styles and layout to generate guidelines for the charity’s entire suite of marketing materials. Written in engaging, easy to understand language, and full of useful diagrams, colourful examples and ‘dos and don’ts’, the completed guidelines contain everything you need to know to produce ‘on brand’ documents, newsletters, leaflets, guides and web pages.

THE CHALLENGETo increase awareness of their luxury hotel brand in India, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts invested in a double-page advertorial in luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller India. Fellows Media was brought onboard to write the copy for the exclusive feature, and design the advertorial to Condé Nast’s exacting specifications.

OUR SOLUTIONThere is a lot that is special and unique about the Fairmont brand, so we spent time paring down these messages to the essence of what consumers can expect from a typical Fairmont Hotels & Resorts property. Using the luxurious Fairmont Le Montreux Palace and Fairmont Baku as examples, we developed an enticing and visually compelling spread that read just like independent editorial.

THE CHALLENGE The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) discovered that high-calibre graduates weren’t considering surveying as a potential career. The organisation contacted Fellows Media to help it change perceptions that surveying was dull and poorly paid in comparison with other career options.

OUR SOLUTIONRICS website, rics.org, had a corporate, sombre look – not great for capturing the interest of school leavers and university students! To remedy the problem we launched a multi-channel campaign that included a microsite and a lively magazine that reflected the exciting future a career in surveying offers. Surveying-360 magazine and surveying-360.com featured cutting edge design and inspiring case studies that illustrated how graduate surveyors could easily find themselves working in exotic locations around the world, and in cool sectors such as the film industry.

THE CHALLENGEWhen Small Luxury Hotels of the World needed an eye-catching, ‘fun’ and ‘active’ video to promote their brand at a rapidly approaching major travel industry event, they turned to Fellows Media to turn their dream into a reality.

OUR SOLUTIONApproached just 24 days before the completed video was needed, we pulled out all the stops to hit the deadline and fulfil the client’s requirement for a ‘dynamic and memorable’ showcase of its products and services.

Working around the clock, we combined exciting live action video clips with animation and specially commissioned imagery from freelance illustrator Lo Cole, to create a compelling three-minute film for the Small Luxury Hotels of the World brand entitled ‘Small is Beautiful’. The video made its debut – on time and to budget! – at the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) conference. Feedback from delegates was extremely positive, and Small Luxury Hotels of the World went on to use the video at several other exclusive travel events and expos.

THE CHALLENGEWith a stylish new restaurant and bar to promote, and a large theatre-going clientele to tap into, The Savoy contacted Fellows Media to produce an elegant and enticing advertisement for display in and around the legendary Old Vic Theatre.

OUR SOLUTIONThe Savoy was keen to promote its new restaurant, Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill, as an ideal venue for a pre-theatre meal or after show drink. Taking influence from classic Art Deco art and architecture from the 1920s and 1930s, we devised a minimal and sophisticated poster advert that evoked The Savoy’s rich and glamorous past and the relaxed dining environment of Kaspar’s.

THE CHALLENGELand & Business magazine was costing the CLA a small fortune to produce when we began working with the organisation back in 2008. We took on the vital task of guiding the publication into profit.

OUR SOLUTIONEven though the global economic crisis struck just weeks after we were awarded the advertising sales and production contract for Land & Business, we remained confident the CLA’s membership magazine could make money. By ensuring advertisers realised the true value of appearing in Land & Business – the magazine had previously been chronically undersold – we were able to quickly increase revenues to target levels. Our partnership with the CLA has been a success story ever since, with advertising revenues continuing to grow to record levels.

THE CHALLENGEMember subscriptions provide The British Horse Society (BHS), the UK’s leading equine charity, with a vital revenue stream. When their membership figures failed to grow as planned, the BHS turned to Fellows Media to help it retain existing members and recruit new ones.

OUR SOLUTIONWe worked closely with the BHS’ marketing team to develop a range of eye-catching marketing materials – from direct mail to print and digital advertising campaigns and event stand collateral – which helped the charity to increase member recruitment and retention levels.

In addition, our intelligent and consultative approach to selling advertising in the BHS’ member magazine, British Horse, has seen revenues increase by more than 300%.

THE CHALLENGEOnce the ‘bible’ of the music industry, the Music Week Directory was in need of a radical overhaul to keep it relevant in a digital age. The publication also required a signifi cant improvement in advertising revenue, which had slumped in recent years.

OUR SOLUTIONGiving the Music Week Directory a new, fresh look was easy for our talented design team, and we adopted an equally imaginative and committed approach to turn around the publication’s advertising fortunes. Before selling space in the directory, we took time out to research the market and talk to lapsed advertisers. Based on the feedback we received, we streamlined the advertising packages available in the publication, re-instated regular contact with advertisers and canvassed competitive media for advertisers in a way that hadn’t been done before. The effect on advertising revenues was dramatic. The revenue target set by the Music Week Directory was well and truly smashed, with more than £20,000 of new business achieved in the fi rst year alone.
