  Little feline, sometimes awakens contradictory feelings : eighter it is too affectionant, eiighter distrustfull. Althought, lately, it's the animal commounlyfound in man's company as an admirer, a companion and their ability to hunt vermin and household pests.The domestic cat(Felis catus or Felis silvestris catus)is a small, usually furry, domesticated, and carnivorous mammal.   Walking on the road ot it's existance as a species, we meet it for the first time in the area of the Egyptyan pyramids. It's procces of the domestication starts 6000 years ago in Egypt. There are proofs though that shows it's bones were found in Mesopotamya and Jordan, along with human remains, 9000 years ago. Herodot related in his writings that cats were sacrified and mummified in the honnour of gods, and when a cat died of natural causes, the master shave their eyebrows as sign of mourning, and the animal burried and embalmed. It was found the skull of a cat burried with the bones of it's master 10.000 years ago in Cyprus.  According to old beliefs the cat is associated with the phases of the new moon and full moon of the mounth, beeing capable to enlarge or shrink it's pupils according to the quantity of the light that reaches it's eyes. Starting with theXIII century , starts a peryod of persecuttion, especially in what concerns black cats, considerate servants of the devil,animals used in the service of evil,beeing burned at the stake along with their owners,witches.

Breeds

 Domestic cats are divided in 2 groups: common cats and pedegree cats. The first breeds who have their origyn in the past centuryes are : Angora, Siamese, Chartreux, Manx. Starting with the XIX th century there were selected modern breeds,like: Persian, European, Sphynx, Somaly, Balinese, Exotic, British, Burmilla, Bengali, Occicat, Bombay, Ceylon, Korat, Oriental, Tonkinesian, Cornish Rex.

Hunting and feeding

Even if they mostly feed with what humans offers them, they stil are solitary animals who prefer to chose themselves with whom to live. They can't be trained.Th

ey won't be controlled. They love their human partners, but only on their terms.Behind that cute little face and playful attitude is a passionless, efficient killer. The jungle lives inside your cat just as it does the 600 pound Bengal tiger. They both move in the same silent, predatory way. The claws of the tiger areno sharper than those of that sweet little creature who listens to your baby talk and plays with your finger. The shape of the teeth in a leopard match the fangs of a domestic cat. Sweet little cat has the same instincts and the same natural predatory nature as the jaguar.They can run almost thirty miles an hour. Their night-vision, smell and scent abilities rival those of any predator in the world. They can jump the equivalent of thirty feet straight up and have an extraordinary ability to balance themselves on the ground and in the air. They leap, grab and kill as easily as you read the morning newspaper.

Health

  The feline can suffer of generaly tratatable diseases: anorexia, obesity, renal calculosys, intern and extern parasites, injuries. In the last years deadlierdieasses have been descovered: a series of tumorus , leukhemia , viral imunodeficiency, simmilar to AIDS.The cat has a very good eyesight especially because ofthe position of their frontal eyes. Cats see fine at the dawn and in night, butthey have a reduced capacity to see the colours and to percive the details. It only distinguish the form of the objects but unclear.

  It looks like cats are not seeing the red colour and that their whole visual world resumes at green, blue and the combination of these colours.At night the pupil of a cat grows to recive a big quantity of light, and by day when the lightis powerfull the pupil can become a crack. Pupil grow in stress situations and shrink before they atack.The hearing is very developed because of the pavilions mobility. The cat has a weak sence of the smell than seeing or hearing. But thisscent is very important for estabilish the quality of food, recognising their family members. The smell also help the femmels recognise their cubs, showing their disponibility to mate and avoid the contact with other cats who market their teritory.Cats love the strong smells, for example the smell of the detergents used to wash clothes, amoniac, perfume, condiments.  Cats can't percive sweet taste. They have ability to percive some tastes thatwe cannot feel or perrcive them exagerately.Cats love heights, it offers them agood visual control over theyr teritory making them to feel safe. Prefering thewarm places, she finds there comfort. Cat purring- that continuuous sound, has an important role to fetch attention of the human suggesting the need of contact. Sometimes the purring means that it needs protection, we met it at frsh mommyes or at kittens starting with 2nd day of life.The age of a cat can be calculated, and raported to human age with the help of this formula : (age of the cat - 1)x 4 + 16 = age raported to human age.
