Feeding the FirefightersCarla Cunningham
Minor details…• Okay, so the idea to cook for firefighters came
through classmate Jacquelyn and it was a great idea
• As the group cam together, some of us thought to not only cook a diner for the firefighters but to also bake them some sweet treats
• As a result there were two houses, the dinner house and dessert house.
Cont.• Half were suppose to go to the dinner house and
the other to the dessert house.• Dinner H. = Jacquelyn • Dessert H. =Erica
Brownie Point• This project was on two days, Monday and
Wednesday • Monday was brownies and cookies• Wed. was cake and chocolate covered stuff• I brought the brownies and Erica brought the
cookies
Critical Thinking?• When I was getting the brownies I first had to
decide if I wanted milk chocolate or fudge and I didn’t know how many boxes were needed.
• I suppose I used critical thinking skills by understanding that there could be many firefighters in the station because they can’t be crowed so I bought a box and a half box of brownie mix
Pictures!
So waccha learn?• Many firefighters volunteer much their time and
are up constantly for 24 hours• A Fire stations only have things that people buy
or donate.• The firefighters lived in a modest place, some of
the rooms have no windows
And what else…• Even when people don’t’ show up the cause must
go on!
• It weird starting small talk with firefighters because they do so much and I don’t want to come off a insincere
• Peanut Butter cookies may have more peanut butter than you would like
Also…• The fire station that I went to was Fire Station 6• the FF were really nice and kind, and seemed
really eagar to give us our food back ( they were proud of what we did and wanted to share there food with us)
Last but not least• Cooking for the FF was a great experience and
opportunity to show my appreciation towards the people who are daily hero's in real life!
