FactA simple analysis of the linearized system around a stationary state(ϕ∞, θ∞) reveals that, in general, not all of the solutions to the stationarysystem are aymptotically stable and so, their stabilization via a feedbackcontroller with support in an arbitrary subset ω ⊂ Ω is of crucialimportance.

ProblemThe aim is to stabilize exponentially the solution to (CH) around astationary solution (ϕ∞, θ∞) by the means of a feedback control
(v , u) = F (ϕ, θ)
Namelylimt→∞
(ϕ(t), θ(t)) = (ϕ∞, θ∞),
with exponential decay, as the initial datum (ϕ0, θ0) is in a neighborhoodof (ϕ∞, θ∞).

−1/2P
2where C is a constant independent of ϕ∞ and CP depends on the problemparameters and ‖ϕ∞‖L2(Ω) .Assume
χ∞ ≤ χ0
Fix r (depending on ‖ϕ∞‖2,∞) and ρ ≤ (2CP )−1/2r such that for
‖y0‖D (A1/2) + ‖z0‖D (A1/4) ≤ ρ,
the closed loop system is exponentially stable.

4. Feedback stabilization of the closed loop nonlinearsystem
FactOne might work directly with the linearized system assuming the keyhypothesis that all unstable eigenvalues λjNj=1 are semi-simple.In this case the condition ‖∇ϕ∞‖∞ + ‖∆ϕ∞‖∞ ≤ χ0 is no longernecessary.
