The Newsletter of the Foxfire Property Owners Association

Meet the Newcomers!

It might be a little too early to say that spring is in the air — but one thing’s for

certain, Foxfire Village is hopping these days! Lots are being cleared, new homes

are going up, houses on the market are … well, let’s just say things are looking a

tad healthier here, real-estate wise, than they were a few years ago. No wonder

we have so many new families to say hello to — as you’ll see in this first FoxTrax

of the new year. Many thanks go to our intrepid Newcomers Committee, Don

and Nancy Boito, for meeting, greeting and introducing us to our new neighbors.

So, in case you run into any of them, say hello to . . .

Bill and Karen Good

Bill and Karen Good moved into their

home at 11 Deer Track late last August.

They come to us from New Hampshire,

though they consider themselves

“Pittsburghers.”

Long, cold, snowy winters prompted

them to look south. They looked around

the area and found that Foxfire offered

bigger lots; was quiet; and importantly for

Karen, provided an easy route to work.

She is a teacher at the 9th Grade Academy

of Richmond County, in Hamlet. Bill

works for Conduent as a project manager,

and he is able to work from home.

Bill and Karen have two grown daugh-

ters, Megan, 27, who is recently married; and

Erica 23. Both live in Baltimore.

Bill would

like to get

back into

golf in the

spring. He

loves the

Pittsburgh

Penguins,

Pirates and

Steelers,

and follows

college

football.

Karen is

an avid

reader and

enjoys

genealogy.

Please welcome Karen and Bill to Foxfire.

Meet the Newcomers!

Scott and Jennifer Dakin, and Bill and

Madelaine Singleton moved into their new

home at 15 Bobolink in November. Scott and

Jennifer came to Foxfire from Pinehurst, where

they resided for about a year; Bill and

Madelaine came from Connecticut.

Bill and Madelaine are Jennifer’s parents,

and they have moved in to help raise their

grandchildren, Coleton, 8, and Connor, 5. They

all share the house with their miniature

Schnauzer, Luna.

They chose to move to Foxfire because of

the lot size, and the peace and quiet they found

here.

Scott has been an active duty soldier for

eight years and is currently stationed at Fort

Bragg. Jennifer is a stay-at-home mom. Bill

calls himself “an old submariner” and is a

retired AT&T employee. Madelaine retired

from 30 years of nursing.

Scott likes to do most any outdoor activity,

and hopes to play some golf as well, while

Jennifer likes to read and cross-stitch. Bill likes

fishing and is looking for a good fishing spot.

Madelaine loves knitting and crocheting.

Please welcome the entire family to Foxfire

Village.

Bill and Ellen

Brock moved into

their home on 7

Ridge Road in

November. They

came to Foxfire to

be near their

daughter, Avery

Reed, her husband,

Eric, and their

grandchildren, who

live on Bobolink.

Bill and Ellen

moved here from

Middleton Place in

Southern Pines.

They have been residents of Moore County for

over 40 years. In addition to their daughter,

Avery, they have a son, Billy, who lives with

his family near Raeford. Bill and Ellen have

four grandchildren: Rebecca, Will, Nolan and

Blythe.

Bill is employed as a realtor for Berkshire

Hathaway, loves his work and has no plans to

retire. Ellen has retired after working for many

years.

Ellen loves to play bridge and mahjong, and

is looking forward to joining the bridge club

and starting a mahjong club as well. Both Bill

and Ellen are avid readers.

Please welcome Bill and Ellen to our

community.

Frank and Debra Noll moved into their new

house at 1 Pine Tree Terrace, also in Novem-

ber. Originally from Enola, Pennsylvania

(which they point out is ALONE spelled back-

ward!), Frank worked for Novitas Medicare

Solutions (Florida Blue Cross/Blue Shield),

and Debra worked for Highmark (PA Blue

Cross/Blue Shield). They had been living in

the area while their house was being built.

Both are

working

part time,

Debra for

Food Lion

and Frank

for Pine-

hurst CC

($5 golf is

a real

perk!).

They

chose

Foxfire

because

of our friendly people and small-town

atmosphere. Their son Derek and family live

here on South Shamrock. They also have a

daughter, Jody, who lives in York, Pennsyl-

vania. They have three grandsons here and a

granddaughter in York.

Frank is a golfer and a huge Raiders fan.

Both are big UNC basketball fans. They love

to walk and do yardwork, and enjoy sitting on

their porch and waving to neighbors as they

drive by.

Please welcome Frank and Debra to Foxfire

– and don’t forget to wave!

Lee and

Nancy Felice

moved into

their home on

1 Eliot Court

in September.

They are from

Philadelphia

and had origi-

nally looked

at building a

home in

Aberdeen, but

ultimately

chose Foxfire

Village. They

liked the lot

size and espe-

cially our community swimming pool.

Lee and Nancy have a daughter, Robin,

who lives with her husband, Greg, in

Hamlet. They have a son Patrick, who lives

with his wife, Lori, in Manhattan, Kansas; and

son Nick, who lives with his wife, Laura, in

East Brunswick, New Jersey. They have five

grandchildren ranging in age from 8 months to

21 years.

Lee and Nancy ran their own plumbing

business in Philadelphia. Lee is now working

for Kevin’s Elite Plumbing Service, while

Nancy has retired from the workforce

Lee is an outdoors guy who likes hunting

and fishing. Nancy likes to read, crochet blan-

kets and relax by the pool. They both enjoy

riding Lee’s motorcycle and once made a bike

trip to see their son in Kansas.

Please welcome Lee and Nancy to Foxfire

Village.

2018 FPOA Board

Returning members of the 2017 board for

the 2018 calendar year are MJ Sheldon,

FPOA chair; Helen Kirk, treasurer, Ginny

Siedler, vice-chair; Page Coker, secretary;

Judy McCollum, Sue Sedlak and Ed

Spaulding. The board thanks FPOA

retirees Jim Heine and Chad DeBonis for

their time and commitment, and welcomes

aboard new members Andy Moody and

Ramiro Reyes.

FPOA Membership Dues If you haven’t already done so, please renew your FPOA membership now. The dues help

offset a portion of the food costs at our annual events, which we hope encourages participation

— and in turn shows what a great community we have chosen to live in. As the village website

says: “Foxfire Village … Where there are no strangers, just friends you haven’t met yet!”

In addition, we encourage you to help us support our telephone directory – specifically, its

advertisers. The directory is the primary source of income for the FPOA. By patronizing the

advertisers found in the directory – and telling them that’s how you found them –you’re helping

the Board attract and retain these clients, and we all stand to benefit.

If you need to make a change to your listing in the directory, please contact Ginny Siedler.

Dues for 2018:

$ 15 Non-resident property owner membership

$ 25 Resident membership

$ 30 Social membership

Make check payable to FPOA and mail to Helen Kirk/Treasurer, 14 Bobolink Road,

Foxfire Village, NC 27281.

We appreciate your membership and support and encourage you to join today!

Secretary – Judy McCollum / Treasurer – Kim Spaulding

Directors – Jackie Martin, Sue Durham, Anita Clapp (Past Chair)

If you didn’t throw away the latest

Moore County Telephone Directory

to show up in your mailbox late last

year, you may have spotted the

photo of these four fine Foxfire

ladies in their vintage golf best on

the back cover of the directory

(below). Foxfire Golf’s very own

leprechaun, Sean Desmond, worked

with Lane Dentistry, who supplied

the vintage clothing, set up the

photo shoot, arranged for the classic

auto, and took “hundreds!” of shots

of the fab four (from left, Leslie

Frusco, Ginny Siedler, Shirlee

Sanderson and Sue Sedlak). The

photo at left is one of their favorite

outtakes. Looking good, ladies!
