Bikecatcher.co.uk - Advertising for Motorcycle DealersAt Catalyst we are always thinking of ways that we can help you save time and make money using our Catalyst Software. One very effective way of doing this is web advertising. At the moment we have many different websites that you can choose to advertise on from within the Vehicle Sales module and we are always working to expand the selection available to you. Our latest addition is Bikecatcher.co.uk.

“Bikecatcher.co.uk is an online advertising platform aimed directly at the motorcycle market both new and used. The site is powered and has been developed by South Coast Web Design. The ease of use, site clarity coupled with the specific targeting of the motorcycle industry has been the main focus of the development plan. Both trade and public can sign up online at www.bikecatcher.co.uk. Bike Catcher is proud to have teamed up with Catalyst to provide a seamless link from its internal software up to the Bike Catcher portal allowing Catalyst customers to join and list bikes without any major additional work required.” – Rob Brown, Director at South Coast Web Design.

When you upload stock onto third-party websites such as Bike Catcher from Catalyst essential data needs to be populated in yourCatalyst system first of all. Essential information includes Make/Manufacturer, Model, Category, Body Type, Price and of course a few photos to make your advert look

attractive. You can easily take photos of the vehicle on your smartphone and use Platinum Online to upload the images to the vehicle number. All of the fields that are important when advertising a vehicle online that you need to fill in are in the ‘Vehicle’, ‘Details’ and ‘Sales’ tabs when you ‘add/edit a vehicle’.

If you would like to advertise your vehicle stock on Bike Catcher contact them on 0800 9496036 to set up your account.

Once you have a Bike Catcher account in order to advertise your bike stock on Bike Catcher from Catalyst you will need to download and complete a ‘Data Permission Form’, and return it to us. This gives us the permission to allow Bike Catcher to access your vehicle data. Once you have done this a member of our Support Team will contact you and arrange for the feed to be set up. Finally, after the data feed has been configured the ‘Bike Catcher’ tick box on the ‘Web Publishing’ tab in the ‘Vehicle Properties’ will become available to select vehicles for upload.

We have had a very busy few months since my last newsletter write up with the completion of Vehicle Handovers, Electronic Bank Statement Automation in Bank Reconciliation and some great enhancements currently in our quality checking stage of development (“Credit Charges” for the Agricultural sector and “Improved Finance Settlement Traceability” to mention a couple).

We’ve not been ignoring Platinum Online either with the addition of the Order Picking option (pick items for your sales orders in real time on your mobile device!). This works really well on the Android Tablet featured on page 2. The stock check option is currently the most popular feature in Platinum Online (I’ve just seen a great idea logged in our software idea tracker by the sales team mentioned to them from an existing client at EXPO 2015 – extending the “Random” stock check feature in mainstream to Platinum Online).

Our next “Big Release” will be Platinum Mobile, a data gathering application for your smart device (Android only at the moment, iOS soon) designed for use when you don’t have internet access to feed information into your mainstream Platinum. Included in the first release will be a Proof of Delivery capture for our clients in the Logistics sector delivering to areas that don’t have a 3G/4G signal. Once the POD is captured and the device has internet access the POD will automatically be uploaded to your mainstream Platinum (automatically changing job status if required) - extending and building on that option in Platinum Online. Then it’s straight onto the Workshop Jobs option allowing labour, stock and image allocation to a job for technicians out in the field away from 3G/4G signals.

Motorcycle EXPO 2015What a blast! We had one of the best shows ever this year. With a bigger and better stand there were plenty of new faces intrigued tosee what we could do for them. We also had a good chat with many of our existing customers which was great too. The new venue, Stoneleigh Park had a friendly atmosphere and a good crowd of visitors each day.

The Motorcycle EXPO Organisers have gathered the figures and facts and over the 3 day event there was a total of 3794 visitors which is a 20.7% increase compared to last year! In addition to this there was a great number of companies there too - 1638 to be precise. We are definitely proud to be part of this fantastic annual event that brings the motorcycle industry together in one place. The organisers do a fabulous job to execute such a successful show each year.

Mike’s Top Tips!1st March is just around the corner, I’m sure many of you already have new vehicle orders and PDI’s to organise. Here are three of my top tips for the start of the season:1 • Customer Retention Centre - Use these fantastic tools to ‘bring in the business’. Use the Workshop Retention Centre to get your workshop pre-loaded with retail jobs before the spring rush. Use the Sales Retention Centre to stay on top of your post-sale follow-up calls and spot customers approaching end of finance or warranty - both are great chances to close another deal! 2 • Standard Jobs - Create and load pre-defined workshop jobs at a press of a button. This great tool saves you time and ensures consistency in the customer experience. Use standard jobs for PDI’s, MOT’s, routine services etc. When you select a standard job all of the parts and labour elements together with the entire text that you want to appear on job cards, invoices and estimates will be loaded - Simples! 3 • VRM Lookup - Use the ‘lookup’ feature to speed up the creation of vehicle records. By using this tool there is no doubt about the VIN, engine number, date of registration etc. Call Sales to link your system to HPI for a one off fee of just £25+VAT. (Ongoing charges to HPI apply at 15p per lookup.)
