Our HistoryIn the past, the mission field was only accessible by a few select people. However, within the last three decades, there has been an explosion of interest in short-termmissions. As the world becomes a “Global Village,” thousands of people areresponding to the world’s needs.

Mission Discovery began in 1991 as an effort to serve Jesus Christ by combining andcoordinating mission resources and US churches to meet the physical and spiritualneeds of the world’s poor. Since Mission Discovery’s beginning, thousands of studentsand adults have served the poor and shared the gospel with thousands of people inMexico, Jamaica, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala,Africa, and the US (AZ, CO, SD, MS, V A, TX, NV , NY , and TN).

Mission Discovery Teams serve as...LEARNERS—Our teams come to discover what God is doing in the world and getinvolved. We come by invitation, not invasion. We come not to teach but to learn.

SERV ANTS—Our teams come not to be served but to serve in the same way the LordJesus Christ came...as a servant and friend.

STORY TELLERS—Our teams have the opportunity to tell the story of what Jesus hasdone and is doing in our lives.

Mission ProjectsMission Discovery offers 7-10 day projects to the Bahamas, Swaziland, Jamaica,Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Kenya, and the US. Mission Discovery projects are unique. All Mission Discovery projects involve construction of a vitally needed building. Mostalso include evangelism opportunities. Then, Mission Discovery partners withinternational churches to insure good follow up of new believers.

Our Statement of Faith We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and

Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless

life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, inHis bodily resurrection, in His Ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in Hispersonal return in power and glory.

We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the HolySpirit is absolutely necessary.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling theChristian is enabled to live a Godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. They that are savedunto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection ofdamnation.

2015 is here and already two months are practicallygone. So, how are you doing thus far? At the end of2014, we were reminded about how important it is tofinish well.

The question now is, how are you starting off the newyear. Sometimes quick starts can be derailed withminor setbacks and discouragements. Many of us areinspired with huge ideas and great things we plan to dofor God, the kingdom and even ourselves. But as usual,as soon as we get going the oppositon comes.

So, what do you do when the momentum you’ve builtup to kick start your life for the new year has beenstifled, bamboozzled and even halted by Satan, peoplein your own camp...and by even yourself. Believe it ornot, sometimes WE can be our own stumbling blocks.Alot of times, we can stand in the way of our ownprogress. As Christians, it’s easy to quote scripturessuch as, “....greater is He that is in me, then he that isin the world” or “I can do all things through Christwho strengthens me”. The key to those scriptures isfaith and belief in the author of them, our Lord andSavior Jesus Christ. As our faith in Christ grows, wecan’t help but to hold onto such scriptures and begin towalk in the truth and ability that they give us. Thesescriptures are not written just to fill the pages of a fairytale book. NOOOOO...these scriptures are the lifechanging, ever living, God breathed words of God.They are used to remind us that when oppositioncomes, and opposition shall come, we can remindourselves that we are more than conquerors throughChrist Jesus, the Spirit of God that dwells in us isgreater and more powerful than any other outside force. These scriptures remind us that if Christ be in us, thenwe can do ALL things through Christ because He is theone who WILL and SHALL strengthen us!

As we begin to live these scriputes, and draw from thelife and truth that they give, we can revitalize thosegreat ideas and great things we had planned for thekingdom. Furthermore, God will begin to downloadHis wisdom and His knowledge on how to overcomeand make moves against ANY and ALL opposition thatmay come your way.

Amen!
