ReadingFebruary 5th is the end of the 2nd Trimester, and we hope to have a lot of students

in our class as members of the C h a p t e r R e a d e r C l u b (students read independently andpass tests on three chapter books) by then. We have several students that are already aChapter Reader. YEA!!! Congratulations to those students who are Chapter readers! Therest of the class will be working hard on Reading this month!

Please continue to have your child read at home. If the books your child reads oryou read to your child are AR books, your child can test on those books here at school andthey will count toward his/her AR goal. I appreciate your help and encouragement with ARat home.

Please continue to turn in your Reading Calendars, so I can write out a certificatefor a FREE Personal Pan Pizza for your child. The students Reading Goal is 20 minutes perschool night (5 nights a week), which was 3 8 0 m i n u t e s f o r J a n u a r y and is 3 6 0 m i n u t e sf o r F eb r u a r y . Also, please remember to add up your childs reading minutes and put it atthe top of the calendar in the place given. Thank you for your help with this matter.

MathWe are enjoying our Harcourt Math program, and well continue working on money

and time next week. Im pleased with everyones progress!

Additionally, our school has placed on emphasis on BASIC FACTS. Please help yourchild practice addition and subtraction facts at home. Thanks for your help!

Social StudiesFebruary is Black History Month, Dental Health Month, and Random Acts of Kindness

Month--AND Presidents Day is on February 15th. We will learn a little about all of thesethings this month.

Valentines DayValentines Day will be celebrated on Thursday, February 11th. Students in our class

may bring valentines and treats to share with friends as long as they bring one forEVERYONE in our class. I do not want anyone left out. We will make envelopes here forthe Valentines received by classmates, and well have a party on Thursday from 12:00-1:00p.m. If you would like to provide treats for the party or help in anyway, please contactme. Thank you for your help!
