2020 Census Bureau

The U.S. Census Bureau is now hiring thousands of people to help with the 2020 Census. Positions pay between $18.50-20.50 per hour, and you can learn more at www.2020census.gov. The 2020 count will be crucial to our area in many ways, and we’ll need everyone’s help to ensure an accurate count for Dayton and the surrounding region.

Every 10 years, the U.S. Census reaches out to count every person liv-ing in the country. That information is used to reapportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, allocate federal road funds for our com-munities, and provide services to seniors, youth and other citizens. The Census influences how over $21 billion of federal funding is distributed in Ohio, which is why it is important to make sure everyone completes the Census forms next year.

The 2020 Census kicks off on April 1, 2020. This year is the first that you’ll be able to respond securely on your mobile device or computer. If you don’t have internet access, you can request paper forms to be sent to you, or some local public libraries will help you to complete the online version of the Census.

Ensure our community receives the federal funding and representa-tion we deserve to stay prepared for the future. Respond to the 2020 Census. For more information on how the Census process works and its impact, go to www.2020census.gov.

Income Tax

City income tax returns for calendar year 2019 are due by April 15.

All Riverside residents must file an annual city tax return. Retir-ees may file an Exemption Certificate (available in the income tax forms package or the City office.) Tax returns should be submit-ted to the Central Collection Agency (CCA) which processes tax returns for the City. Tax forms are available at the City office or online at www.ccatax.ci.cleveland.oh.us. CCA also has an e-file option available on its website. Note that there are some limita-tions on e-file. If you file a Federal Schedule C (Business Income) or Schedule E (Rental Income) or have a W-2 showing resident Riverside withholding tax, you must file a paper tax return. Please see the instructions for additional restrictions.

The Riverside income tax of 1.5% applies to residents and anyone working in Riverside. The tax applies to wages, self-employment, rental income, other business income, as well as gambling winnings. Pensions, Social Security, interest, dividends, and unemployment benefits are not taxed. Riverside residents work-ing in another city with an income tax can claim a partial credit on the Riverside tax return not exceeding 0.75% for tax paid to the city where employed.

Estimated tax payments for 2020 are required only if the total will be greater than $200 per year. Estimated tax payments are due on April 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15. Normally taxpayers would pay their 1st Quarter estimated tax along with the annual tax return.

CCA agents will be at the City office on Feb 28 and March 21 to help taxpayers complete tax forms.

Please direct any questions to the Finance Department at 937-233-1801 or email [email protected].
