PRESIDENT’S REPORT I hope you all enjoyed the holiday period and are looking forward to another year of action,

involvement, relaxation, shared experiences, conversations and general enjoyment of life in company

with your fellow club members.

As you slip back into the routine of your favourites, maybe this is the year to try a few new activities as

well. As you’ll see, there’s a second book club starting up, making space for more people to join in. We’re

also eager for others to join the Friday morning table tennis group: challenges for the competitive,

plenty of support for beginners, lots of laughs and morning tea as well.

Finally, as you read through this first newsletter for 2020 and circle those activities you want to join – think also about what you wish you could see in the diary. Is there a winery you’ve always wanted to visit? What about one of the new restaurants or cafes that has opened nearby? Do you want to do something radically different? Here’s your chance to organise an activity or join with someone else and make it happen. Talk to Patricia Bickell or one of the other committee members about how to be a convenor. We’re always looking for fresh ideas. Donna Atkins, Club President

MEMBERSHIP REPORT Happy New Year to everyone. It is nice to get back into some sort of routine and catch up with everyone.

Membership remains at 188. Over December and early January we have had 3 enquiries.

All outstanding paperwork has been returned except for 2 who are both unwell, so I have made the

decision not to hassle these 2 members.

If there are members receiving their newsletters via email who would prefer to have it posted, please

contact me and I will make the adjustment.

Miriam Madden, Membership Secretary

ACTIVITY CO-ORDINATOR’S REPORT After a quiet couple of months we are gearing up again with lunches and dinners. Jones Road Winery has proven to be very popular with members, and because the management of this venue will only accept a certain number each sitting, Denise has booked again in March with preference being given to people on the waiting list, but there are still seats available. Join us for Trivia, our last one was good fun with friendly rivalry and lots of laughs. Brooklands in Tanti Avenue has been recommended by a couple of our members so we are giving that a try, unfortunately no senior menu but their a la carte does look rather yummy, parking is available within the restaurant grounds. Our usual activities are still going strong for members to enjoy, golf, walking, yoga and table tennis so if you are interested please give the convenor a call. It has been mentioned to me that perhaps the male members of our club would be interested in meeting for a coffee morning. If this is of interest to any of you guys could you please give me a call. A weekend away has been arranged in March which will suit caravaners, campers and members who prefer cabins or motels. This a chance to for members to get together and enjoy a casual weekend away which is reasonably priced and not too far. I would welcome any new ideas that members have regarding venues or weekends away, so don’t be shy in putting forward suggestions I am all EARS!! Patricia Bickell, Activities Co-ordinator.

Club Carer: To all our members who have been unwell, we send you our best wishes and hope that you are feeling better soon. Please let me know if you know someone on the sick list. Thank you. Margaret Young 0407 737 978

Every member should now have received a Vial of Life pack. Please ensure that it is completed with your details

and keep it with you whenever you attend an activity. In fact, it should be with you at all times to ensure important

information is available in the event of an accident.
