A company supported by an experienced team

Originally made up of researchers who worked on the process in our laboratory, the team has since been restructured around process engineers and project managers to ensure the industrial and commercial development of the company. The team is currently composed of 5 employees based in Toulouse and 3 operational partners.

Management is assumed by an experienced Executive Committee:Strategic directions are defined by a Strategic Committee:

After a career in the Cesbron familycompany, specialized in the refrigerationsector, Christian chose to join COLDINNOVand bring in his experience of theindustrial market.

Thermochemical refrigeration through a reaction between ammonia and a reagent compound designed by COLDINNOV

Energy supplied by waste heat recovery ◦ Heat of industrial processes

◦ Combustion engines

◦ Alternative and renewable heat sources (solar heat, waste incineration, biogas, …)

COLDINNOV can be used:◦ To replace an existing refrigeration unit◦ In addition to an existing refrigeration unit◦ As a new refrigeration unit

Power characteristics of COLDINNOV technology ◦ Scalable power from 2 kW to more than 500 kW

COLDINNOV Technology - Description

Page 5: February 2019 - coldinnov.com€¦ · Prize for industrial development, Business Club UTC Prize winner of the ‘Investment for the Future’ program, 2015 & 2016 AFI Bpifrance Awards

Recovers residual heat as an energy source

Generates energy savings by over 80% compared with a compression system

Cooling effect to above or below-freezing as soon as it is turned on

Uses a natural refrigerant fluid with no Global Warming Potential (GWP=0), contrary to commonly used HFC

Reduces maintenance costs due to the absence of moving parts in the reactor

Allows for direct conversion of heat into cold or for its storage in chemical form

Insensitivity to sudden movements and inclination

Reduced Return on Investment Time Direct competition with compression systems

Heat/Cold Converter (HECO/C) Reactor

13

2 different technologies:

The HECO/S reactor is more suitable for heat/cold energy storage

The new HECO/C has been designed as an actual Heat/Cold Converter

High power density

Little ammonia amount needed: under 0.3 kg/kW

Modular architecture allowing for an easy industrialization

Low operating costs

The HECO/C is suitable for applications requiring both power and compactness, as well as a low embedded NH3 mass

The HECO/C is developed together with the CEA Liten (Commissariat à l’Énergie

Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives Grenoble)
