BOSC,
Happy New Year! I
hope that everyone had
a joyous holiday season.
It seems like a week ago
it was Christmas but
here we are looking at
February and Valen-
tine's Day. Soon it will
be time for our annual
charity auction. We are
already well into the
planning stages. Mark
your calendars for April
11th. It is sure to be a
fun filled evening. If
you are interested in get-
ting involved, let us
know! You can email
Becca Denton
at charitable.bosc@gmai
l.com. There are lots of
volunteer opportunities
with the auction.
What a blast last
month's social was! The
fabulous ladies of 2nd
MSG did an amazing
job performing the
"Basic Black Dress"
skit. There were lots of
laughs. Our charity of
the month for January
will be the same for
February so if you for-
got your non-parishable
food items bring them to
the February social.
There is also a collec-
tion box located at the
club where donations
can be dropped off at
any time.
Our February social is
just a couple weeks
away! The Associate
Spouses are planning a
Valentine themed social.
We hope to see you
there. Be sure to check
out our community hap-
penings section of the
newsletter. You will
find lots of useful infor-
mation about what is
happening on and
off base for the
month of February.
A special congratu-
lations to our Vol-
unteer of the Quar-
ter nominee for this
quarter: Emily Meister.
Emily has donated
countless hours to
BOSC activities. Very
well deserved. Do you
volunteer in the com-
munity or on base? If
so, keep a log of your
volunteer hours and
they can be turned into
Maria McKenna, our
Volunteer Coordina-
tor, volunteer.bosc@gm
ail.com. Volunteer
hours is how we deter-
mine our nominee so let
us know if you are vol-
unteering within the
community or on base.
Happy Valentine's Day!

to enter for and if you weren't able to check on the table in January, we have lots of Mardi Gras decorations. If you are out shopping and
see something I may want on the table, just email me! Happy shopping!

Volunteer Opportunity
Hello BOSC Members: With Spring right around the corner, it’s time to start working on our annual Spring Charity Auction. If you would like to be on this committee please email Rebecca Denton at [email protected]. This is our biggest event of the year and many hands and talents are needed to make it a success!
FEBRUARY Volunteers are needed as LEAP tutors for 4th and 8th graders in Shreveport, LA. Tutoring begins Tues, Feb. 17 and will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays until Thursday, April 30. We will not have tu-toring during the first LEAP testing week (March 16th- 20th) and Spring Break week (April 6th- 10th). Volunteers can choose to tutor at one of the following places: . Lakeshore Middle School (1807 San Jacinto Avenue)- 3:00 - 4:00 PM; tutors needed for 8th grade students . Forest Hill Elementary (2005 Francais Drive)- 3:30 - 4:30 PM; tutors needed for 4th grade students . Travis Street Downtown LightHouse (802 Travis Street)- any hour between 4:00 - 5:30 PM; tutors needed for 4th and 8th graders. Because the testing format is new this year, we are requiring all interested tutors to attend a one hour LEAP training on Thursday, Feb. 12, at either noon OR 5:15 PM - 6:15 p.m. at the Highland Center- Large Conference Room, 520 Olive Street, Shreveport LA 71104 (parking is available in the back park-ing lot of Stephens Street). Please RSVP to Tricia Jowell at [email protected] or call 318-221-2669 to attend.

Another volunteer need is in answering phones at the front desk. To sign apply as a volunteer and the local American Red Cross Chapter: http://www.redcross.org/find-your-local-chapter 1. Enter your zip code 2. Click "Northwest Louisiana Chapter" under "Your Local Red Corss" at the top of the screen 3.
