What inspired your dancehall track Murderer?

links:e-mail: [email protected]: http://www.gandanga.com

“Just felt like doing something a little different to what people usually hear from me and Murderer was the outcome”

The title of the new joint is “Murderer” and is poised to be a crossover hit for radio, clubs and digital devices. The song has already been embraced by the street and heads are nodding to the killer joint. Metaphysics went even further and utilised the track a proper visual representation through video and came down to Zimbabwe and shoot a video. The video was shot as a tribute to the late Chiwoniso Maraire at the same location that “A Peace of Ebony” shot their video “Vuka” almost 21 years ago.

We managed to catch up to the music genius who has worked with dancehall legends like Buju Baton, Mr Vegas, Jah Thunder, Patrice and local heroes like Winky-D, Mickey Inity, Laygwansharkie to name a few. We did an online interview with Metaphysics and we were finding out what 2014 has in store for his fans and the inspiration behind his new hit single “Murderer”.

The Miami based musician has dropped a killer track with Gandanga Records. The music veteran who is not new to the Regge/Dancehall movement and has consistently dropped heavy hits which have got club and Regge/Dancehall lovers moving to the tunes.

What can the ZiMbabWean public be looking out froM your albuM?“Good Music”

is gandanga Music signing up any local artists and assisting theM to go international like yourself?“Yeah started looking at a few new artists but at this point really just trying to build the brand Gandanga.”

Acer made headlines in the last year putting a new spin on the laptop/tablet debate with their Iconia W7 and A5.

Need a touchscreen laptop? You’ve got it.

ACER ICONICA A1

Joining that fast growing category of 7-8” tablets which we here at Coolest Gadgets got a chance to preview. Launching in the next month, the Acer Iconia A1 should successfully vault them into the midst of the small tablet race with a 8GB version expected at $169 and 16GB version at $199. Affordability will certainly be the first point that will make the A1 stand out.

the A1 will run Android Jelly Bean 4.2 and offer a quad core processor. Jelly Bean enables the owner to create multiple users for one device – each being able to customize their tablet experience. No wor-ries about the kids accessing your private

“assets” when they want to play Candy Crush. The quad core also gave a speedy experience. The microSD slot will expand another 32GB so you can take your movies and music with you too.

Design : Design-wise the A1 offers a healthy 7.9” screen and .43” (11.1mm) profile. One of those points of differentiation for Acer will be the 4:3 1024×768 XGA display. Some of you may consider a non 16:9 aspect ratio a deal breaker. OK, if video is your primary purpose for a small tablet we get it. But after playing with the unit we were pleasantly surprised at the 4:3 browsing, reading and gaming experi-ence. Of course the physical drawback is that going with a larger 4:3 screen in a 7-8”

tablet means a wider unit (145.7mm) versus say the Nexus 7 (16:9 and 120mm wide). So get ready to stretch your hand out to hold the unit. Another physical features worth a mention are a mini-HDMI port so you can plug in to your big screen. And as you would expect the A1 comes with cam-eras on either side including 5MP, 1080p capable version on the back.

The actual user experience definitely gives a few more points of differentiation. With our on-the-go society, instant access to your top apps becomes a necessity. Acer’s Touch Wakeup function will enable direct passage to the app of your choosing from a locked screen by either double thumb touch or five finger twisting motion. Personally this would be a great feature to always have your email literally at your fingertips. Like with competing units, the navigation buttons are always present on-screen, taking up a little space but always readily available. Video screen quality was adequate, giving a decent picture and handling motion fairly well. The 170 degree viewing angle via the IPS screen was definitely a big plus. Touch responsiveness certainly wasn’t that of a unit twice the price. For those that need a unit on-the-go and have interest in sharing the device with other users take a look at the A1 when it launches in June. It will get you the mobility the masses are seeking in a small tablet at an affordable price.

Scribe Called TswaA

Working in

literature,

theatre and

film, the

productions

to my name

are my vision

from this

background.

The multitalented artist “A Scribed Called Tswa” is a creative and artistic individual who describes himself with these words. “My being is the coming together of the many ‘what I am’s’ that have been my experience”. Like the Buntu concept of ‘a village raising a child,’ it is that which is around me that inspires my definition. Creativity, purpose, love, beauty, knowl-edge, respect, etc. This is the community with which I have chosen to raise myself.

We profile the artist “A Scribe Called Tswa” as is currently working on a film project that is set to be released in the first quarter of 2014. Tswa is reluctant to divulge the details of his film but promising a story of visual art and creativity of the most highest standard.

I was born Tswarelo Mothobe, a Sotho boy in a Ndebele society that houses many other tribes, i.e. Xhosa, Kalanga, Rozvi, Zulu, Tonga, etc. Already at my birth and growing, I was a convergence of a diversity of cultures. The last of my kind, my last name means ‘the Healer’ A tribe central to the practice and pres-ervation of the heritage and conscious-ness of the African. It is this that propels the attitude of my spirit in that which I write, perform and direct. Working in literature, theatre and film, the produc-tions to my name are my vision from this background.

Art for me has been, first, my only means of education, considering my level of schooling, has been my vocation and my means of communication with the rest of humanity. Through it I express that which I am.

Scribe Called Tswa

The Writer

Since those days that township streets were my definition, their dust dress-ing the energy that was this African boy, the creative my only companion, I was always creating worlds in my mind. Seeking to understand the creations of others, I loved to learn; reading everything I could, I loved to listen and explore. The writer is my beginning; it is what I am first. I write because it is all that I have, what I came with into this existence, that which God placed directly in my hands… this ability to play God with my mind and pen things into being. Every other aspect of my being begins in the writer and evolves to suit the necessity, be it theatre, film, music, the ears of an excited sweetheart, the elated expressions of children by fire light or just mere talk; I write…

The Poet

I believe poetry is what we feel and what we think, and because everyone has feelings and thoughts, I believe each of us are poets in a way or another. It is left to each of us to realize this and our means of expressing it… My yearning for an existence better than that which we have defined for ourselves invokes the poet in me… my belief is rooted in the idea that change towards the better begins within the self… so through my

words, I challenge myself towards positive growth, tolerance, respect, definition; of myself first and a beauti-ful realization of the world and all of its inhabitants. Because I have become this person, I begin to see every other being in this way and as epitomes of this in our various ways.

The unfolding of history and time in Africa and its people has fragmented the definitions, beliefs and being of our peo-ple. My work is an attempt at reminding ourselves of ourselves. Because some-where in the nooks of time and space, we have been great people and even greater as a people.

The house music label Chife09 has dropped a new hot single called “higher”, the company just shot a video with NAMA award nominated Andy Cutta. The video is out and they are working on putting it out on local TV channels also international ones like Channel O. The single is coming of their upcoming album called “Leap of Faith”. The album got its name from all the hard work the producers put in Khan Master they said were going forward with a new and different marketing strategy which he said was a top down one. We caught up with part of the crew and had an interview with Khan Master and he filled us in what Chief09 Music was up to for 2014.

We met at a local restaurant in Bulawayo and Khan Master came through and the interview began

How would you describe the house music Chief09 produces? Our house music is emotional, mature, deep and one can listen to the music at any time of the day.

Well also as the “Kanye West of House Music” our sound does not follow the con-ventional styles and techniques.

How Many tracks does your album have?We worked on a lot of tracks which are over 30 songs and selected 12 tracks that made it on the album as we were develop-ing what we think is great house music also catering for all times and all ages. The tracks are also in Zulu, Shona, Ndebele and English.

Who have you worked with on the upcoming Album?Well we have tried to work with some of the local artists but we have failed because of a lack of commitment and some of the artists are just busy thus they could not work with us on this album we will see in the future.

Which vocalists are on your album? We took our time to select the best vocal-ists that were committed and had what it took to make our beats sound good. So we worked with Snook , Cake, Mack, Glen K, Kirkiy, Prim and Raster K. Snook and Cake are featured in the single “higher” that is part of the Chief09 label.

When is the album out?We are dropping the album within the first quarter of this year and latest is in April.

What inspired the name of the label?Chief09 comes from the name of our city

‘City of Kings’ and we are chiefs here and also the 09 is the telephone code for the city those are the two elements we put together to come up with chief09.

How can people get your music? At the moment we have not released the album but people can get the singles on soundcloud and contact us on facebook.

We are looking to hear more from Khan Master and the Chief09 record label as they are working on more house hits in the near future. The interview was an interesting one as we had laughs and cockles during it, Khan Master a well rounded, focused individual pushing local music to higher heights with his creative team and setting new levels for others to follow.

Working on over 30 tracks to come up with one album is no easy achievement the creativity and hard work put in is now showing results with the new video they have just put out. The single Higher is going to take this new record company to higher levels within Zimbabwe and Africa.

For more about the label follow them on facebook and soundcloud where you are bound to get a better look and feel of what Chief09 is all about.

Rebelious Klothing has dressed the reality program host for Zimbabwe Ine Styra, Mbo Mahocs for the Jewel Magazine Cover, and show cased his designs at the Design Indaba. We sat down with the talented designer to find out more of his inspiration and how he goes through his design process.

We asked him how he got in to fashion and he says it was by coincidence that as a young man he wished to go into Graphic Design and when he was looking for a

local college to study Graphic Design-ing he was failed to find an institution that offered a comprehensive course he would be interested in and was then told of Fashion Design and how it was similar to Graphic Design. He says he reluctantly enrolled and the love of fashion grew from there.

MC Tytoh has just shoot an amazing video for his single next in line, working with a multitalented Music Producer and Video Director King Krude.

The multitalented King Krude a hit making music producer has out done the current trend and shoot a video for MC Tytoh which has got all music lovers in the country talking of the new standard that he has set for Zimbabwe and Bula-wayo artists. King Krude who is also part of the international Nafunasages. We spoke to Enqoe the founder of Nafuna TV to find out more of what Nafuna sages is and this is what he had to say “NafunaSages are elitist artists on all multimedia fronts. It’s a thing we do where we acknowledge people in our ecosystem.”

“NafunaSages are elitist artists on all multimedia fronts”

We paid a visit to this creative master at his musical studio just to get him to shed some light on his work. We asked King krude what MC Tytoh had in store for 2014 he said the single Next in line was taken from the album “Micgnificent” which is dropping any time this month. King Krude said the album was going to get all hip-hop lovers on their feet and nodding their heads.

We had to ask king Krude what it took to work with him and develop amazing videos and he had this to say. We have to

sit down and work on the scrip, get the idea down assemble all the resources that it would need to bring the concept alive. The most important thing is the budget and keeping to the schedule that we would have set up and the budget is the limit not any of our abilities.

“sit down and work on the scrip, get the idea down

assemble all the resources”

Before we left the busy maestro we had to find out what we and the public had to look out for and he said “ we have a lot of projects that are about to drop but all I can say is look out for Prozac and Orthodox we are working on some dope stuff.” We thanked King Krude for his time and cannot wait for him to drop some more good music and lovely creative and innovative videos.
