Bernhardt Once again, Team Orlando parcipated in the Orlando Science Center’s Otronicon event. Otronicon is a four-day technology experience and is one of the largest events of the year for the Orlando Science Center. Team Orlando’s parcipaon demonstrates their ongoing collaborave outreach efforts in the Greater Orlando area. PM TRASYS’ Bushika Always Wanted to Serve By Dolly Rairigh Glass A nave of the small town of Florida, in the mountains of northwestern Massachuses, Marn Bushika said it must have been his desny that he would one day make the move to Florida, the state. As his school’s Valedictorian, Bushika was excited to be accepted to the Naval Academy, where he studied Electrical Engineering with the ‘great class of 1978,’ and graduated top in his class, giving him first choice on Service Selecon, which for Bushika was the submarine community. Industry Capability Day Great Benefit For All Pares By Dolly Rairigh Glass Looking at addional opportunies to bring industry and Team Orlando members together to share in clever innovaons and new partnerships, twelve companies parcipated in the first ever Team Orlando Industry Capability Day hosted by the Naonal Center for Simulaon (NCS) on Jan. 30. The half-day event allowed these companies to showcase any new and excing capabilies for acquision and professional personnel from all Team Orlando commands in an environment that was inving and comfortable, and a venue right in their backyard. Team Orlando Supports Future Sciensts and Engineers Volunteers from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory’s Human Research Directorate, Simulaon and Training Technology Center (ARL-HRED STTC), the Army Program Execuve Office for Simulaon, Training and Instrumentaon (PEO STRI) and the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWC‐TSD) served as judges at the Seminole County Regional Science Fair. Invited speakers to the Symposium are the Secretary of the Air Force, the Honorable Deborah Lee James; Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General Mark A. Welsh III; Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James Cody; and other top Air Force leaders. The Hall of Fame will be a part of the M&S Center of Excellence that will be permanently housed at the OCCC in space that was donated by Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, in partnership with OCCC leadership. Wagner, PEO STRI’s Deputy for Small Business Programs, said they weren’t but it got the wheels turning. PEO STRI Takes Home The Gold By Rick Gregory, APEO Business Operaons Support Staff PEO STRI was recognized recently with the top award (Gold) in the large organizaon (more than 500 employees) category in the annual 2013 Defense Acquision Workforce Development Award Program. The Department of Defense-wide compeon was started in 2004, with the entries being judged by senior government and private sector leaders in workforce training, development and talent management. PEO STRI’s workforce development iniaves have previously been acknowledged with the Bronze Award. DAU’s Senior Service College Fellowship Program Visits Team Orlando By Terri M. Bernhardt In late January, the DAU Senior Service College Fellowship (SSCF) program returned to Team Orlando with a new class of senior civilian acquision leaders to introduce them to Team Orlando’s military organizaons and capabilies surrounding modeling, simulaon and training. According to sources at UCF, the Partnership III building was built to meet the silver level of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. LEED is aimed at improving energy savings, water efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions reducon and indoor environmental quality. To meet these standards, the Partnership III building had to include T-5 fluorescent lighng, occupancy sensors, and enhanced wall, roof and window insulaon. In addion it has to install an energy-efficient chilled water air-condioning system, and a demand-control approach to venlaon, which brings more outside air into a space when many people are inside and less when there are few people present. Team Orlando at Otronicon

Looking at additional opportunities to bring industry and Team Orlando members together to share in clever innovations and new partnerships, twelve companies participated in the first ever Team Orlando Industry Capability Day hosted by the National Center for Simulation (NCS) on Jan. 30.
