Organiser:Green Institute for Research and Development, New DelhiGIRD was established by a few like minded social and environmental activists as a non-profit voluntary organization to work for the protection of environment and promotion of environment-friendly products and practices. The GIRD was registered under the Societies Registration Act (Act No. XXI of 1860) in 1996.

GIRD was set up in the background of rising concern all over the world for the conservation and improvement of the natural environment in order to achieve ‘sustainable development’ of the human kind.

Means of payment:  Contributions from within India may be sent in favour of “Green Institute for Research and Development” (A/c No. 0994002100014608) to the Punjab National Bank, Moti Bagh, New Delhi – 110021.

Contributions from outside India may be sent  in favour of “Green Institute for Research and Development (A/c No. 13900200002778)” to the Federal Bank Limited, Overseas Branch, E-13-29, Harsha Bhavan, Connaught Place, New Delhi–110001. 

GIRD has been registered under the Government of India’s Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976.  The Registration No. is 231660777.

Rahman received two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for “Jai Ho.” He also became the first Indian artist to win a Golden Globe®, for Best Original Score and took home the Critics Choice Award, Los Angeles Film Critics Award and a BAFTA for his Slumdog Millionaire score. two Academy Awards for Best Original Music Score and Best Original Song at the 2009 Oscars. He has also won two Grammy Awards, for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album and Best Song Written for a Visual Media. Rahman was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honor, in 2010.

AR Rahman Jai Ho – The Journey Home Concert

The concert will include acrobatics from Cirque Du Soleil, new technologies, fascinating dance arrangements, changing sets, LED screens, and a global cast of dancers and musicians.

It is termed as a “virtual journey through beauty, culture, spirituality” and a “theatrical experience” utilizing “new technologies.”

On the Jai Ho tour, Rahman will collaborate with creative director Amy Tinkham who is known for creating live musical concerts for a variety of pop-music icons including Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and Mariah Carey.

"A.R. Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home Tour" will be a theatrical experience that will blend new technologies with powerful dance arrangements and acrobatics. The concert will keep intact the heritage and traditions of India with a new modern presentation. The show will feature changing sets, large images on LED screens and a spectacular cast of musicians and dancers from across the globe.

"Through the vast tapestry of music that is A.R. Rahman, he takes us on a virtual journey through beauty, culture, and spirituality," said Tinkham. "This is uniquely Indian - both ancient and modern."

The material spans throughout AR's prolific career, including songs from Slumdog Millionaire as well as landmark Indian films Lagaan, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Dil Se, Rang De Basanti and Roja'. Roja' was a run-away success and brought nationwide fame and acclaim to the Rahman. TIME Magazine rated the soundtrack of 'Roja' in the Top 10 of their all time best movie soundtracks of the world; the movie also won Rahman the Indian National Award for the best music composer, the first time ever by a debutant. Since then, Rahman has gone on to win the National Award 3 more times, the most ever by any music composer.
