ADORATION “Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament has been the fervent devotion of the Saints. Their adoration lasted for hours and hours, sometimes whole days or nights. There ‘at Jesus’ feet’ like Mary of Bethany (Luke 10:39), keeping Him fond and intimate company, absorbed in contemplating Him, they surrendered their hearts to a pure and fragrant offering of adoring love.”

-Fr. Stefano Manelli (1933 to Present)

PRAYING TOGETHER Families can sign up in the Narthex to take the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima home and to pray the rosary as during the week. One day during the week, one of our priests or deacons will come to your house to pray the rosary with your family!

WEEKLY REFLECTION ON THE READINGSFEBRUARY 16, 2020 | SIXTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIMECALL TO PRAYER: We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.FIRST READING: Sir 15:15-20RESPONSORIAL PSALM: Ps 119:1-2, 4-5, 17-18, 33-34SECOND READING: 1 Cor 2:6-10GOSPEL: Mt 5:17-37 | Jesus said to his disciples: “I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

“You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment. But I say to you, whoever is angry with brother will be liable to judgment.

“You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery. But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

“Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors, Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow. But I say to you, do not swear at all. Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one.”

REFLECTION:Adults/Teens: Let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No.” How often do we bend the truth just enough for it to not get us in trouble with others? Jesus challenges us today to be honest with ourselves in our weaknesses and strengths. He tells us that our intention is just as important as our actions and that we need to strive for Holiness in all we do. We know we will slip up and fail at times, but the worst thing we can do is lie to ourselves and say that what we are doing is “not that bad.” We should be honest and ask for forgiveness while looking to the future with our hope in CHrist fulfilling not only the prophecies, but also the desires of our hearts. Children: Jesus tells us today that we need to be honest and direct with others. He says that when we hurt others or lie to them, we hurt ourselves, too. God has given us commandments to live by and it is up to us to do all we can and obey him. God loves us and wants us to live a happy life and when we love others, we will be happy and close to Him.

Take a moment to reflect on Jesus and His presence in your life.

Pray together, aloud, the Our Father.

RESPECT LIFEWORD OF LIFE REFLECTIONS“Prayer is the foundation of all that we do in defense of human life. Our efforts—whether educational, pastoral, or legislative—will be less than fully fruitful if we do not change hearts and if we do not ourselves overcome our own spiritual blindness. Only with prayer—prayer that storms the heavens for justice and mercy, prayer that cleanses our hearts and our souls—will the culture of death that surrounds us today be replaced with a culture of life.”

LIFE TEEN SPRING SERIES- “2”Sundays6:30pm - 8:00pmLife Teen Center“Who am I?” While we all wrestle with this question to a certain extent, the current discussion regarding gender makes the answer even more difficult to figure out. In this series, 2 (Two), we discuss the human person as created in the image and likeness of God, body and soul, as male and female. We hope to offer clarity to this sensitive topic while inspiring teens to accept and live out their God-given sexual identity, which is rooted in their biological sex.
