Stephen   Ministers   are   available  immediately   following   all  services   to   offer   communion   to  anyone   who   wishes   and   for  prayer  requests.  Nursery   and   The   Vineyard  Sunday   School   for   children   are  available  at  9:30am  and  11am   in  the   GrowZONE   at   the   Northlake  Campus.  Youth   Sunday   School   meets   at  11am   in   the   Youth   Cellar   at  Northlake  Campus.

Are  you  interested  in  hearing  more  about  membership  at  Assurance?  Want  to  find  ways  to  get  involved  in  our  missions  and  ministries?  Please  join  us  for  the  monthly  BEGINNINGS   Gathering.   This   is   an   intimate   setting   to  ask   questions,   hear   the   story   of   Assurance,   and   even  become  members   if  desired.  Next  Sunday,  February  8,  12:30pm   in   the  Basement  at  Northlake  Campus.  RSVP  to  info@assuranceumc.org  or  call  the  church  office.  The   GGs   Valentines   Mystery   Trip   is   right   around   the  corner.  The  trip’s  details  are  a  surprise,  but  the  date   is  February   13   and   the   departure   from   Assurance  Northlake   is   10am.   Please   register   by   February   10   by  calling  704  596-­‐0735  (leave  a  message).  

 

Assurance’s   Annual   Fat   Tuesday   Supper   is   coming   soon…Tuesday,  February   17,   5pm-­‐7pm.   This   year   this   event  will   be   at   the   Connections  Campus   (6729  Old  Mount  Holly   Road,   Charlotte,   NC  28214).   Bring   your  appetite   and   a   friend   to   this   free,   all-­‐you-­‐can-­‐eat,   fun   community  fellowship   event.   In   addition   to   being   a   roaring   good   time,   this   event  feeds  the  community  by  offering  any  donations  received  to  go  directly  to  the  missions  and  ministries  serving  our  community.  As   we   launch   our   Lenten   sermon   series   today,   don’t   forget   that   Ash  Wednesday   is   the   true   beginning   of   this   season.  We  will   host   a   special  service   on   Wednesday,   February   18   at   7pm.   All   are   invited   to   this  powerful   service   of   reflection   and   repentance   at   Assurance   Northlake  Campus.  

We   are   excited   to   announce   that   the   next   Mission  Guatemala  trip  will  be  August  8-­‐16.  Save  the  date  and  stay  tuned  for  more  details!   Information  sessions  (no  commitment  required)  will  be  held  today,  February  1,  at  12:30pm  and  Wednesday,  February  4  at  6:30pm  in  the  Media  Center  at  Northlake.  Who  wants   to  help  bring   the  bagels  back!?  We  need  you   to   help   us   share   our   delicious   Gathering   Place  bagels  and  juice.   If  you  are   interested  in  being  a  part  of  a  team  effort  to  support  this  ministry  of  hospitality,  please  contact  Greg  Tosi  at  gregorytosi@gmail.com.  

Assurance   is  discerning  a  call   to  begin  a  backpack  ministry.  The  Backpack  ministry  will  provide  meals  and  snacks  for  children  in  our  area  during  the  school  year  who  would  otherwise  be  hungry  during  the  weekends.  We  are  looking   to   serve   five   children   at   each   of   the   two   partner   schools,   Long  Creek  and  Allenbrook   Elementary  Schools.  We  need  a  core  Hunger  Team  to   help   make   this   possible.   The   Hunger   Team   will   be   writing   requests  letters  for  support  from  local  businesses,  organizing  volunteers  to  pack  and  deliver   backpacks,   and   arranging   for   pick   up   of   food   donations   and  delivering  them  to  the  church.  If  you  feel  God  is  leading  you  to  serve  in  this  area   or   have   questions,   please   contact   Pastor   Daniel   at  daniel@assuranceumc.org  or  Sherry  Webb  at  webbsh97@gmail.com.    

Assurance   is   a   church   whose  singular  mission  is  to  GROW  and  GO.   Assurance   is   Growing  Disciples   of   Jesus   Christ   so   that  we   can   Go   serve   Christ   in   the  world.   In  GROWING  and  GOING,  we   emphasize   three   things:  Spirit,  Serve,  and  Share.  We  grow  our  Spirit  in  worship,  prayer,  and  small   group   connections.   We  grow   by   Serving   others   inside  and   outside   the   walls   of   our  church.   And   we   Share   our   gifts  and   the   Good   News   that   God  loves  us  all.  

 

Current  Sermon  Series:  

REDIRECT  For   years,   the   church   has  picked   on   7   sins   that   tend   to  be  the  most  destructive  to  the  human  spirit.    

Interestingly   enough,   we   find  the   opposite   of   these   sins  revealed  in  God’s  character.        

A   new   learning   opportunity   is   happening   each  Wednesday   after   the   ON  THE   WAY   meal   (around   7pm).   myAssurance   workshops   are   held   in   the  church  office  for  anyone  that  would   like  some  assistance  getting  to  know  this  system.  Come  by  and  feel  free  to  bring  your  laptop  or  other  device  to  get  connected.
