Chiran- born interior designer Shinichi Nakamori launched the cafe in Jan. 2015 to spread the word about Chiran tea—the leading tea of Kagoshima, Japan’s second largest tea producer. Come enjoy the elegant interior and the mellow flavor of the tea. Using seasonal ingredients, the chef makes healthy, vegetable-heavy dishes that are full of flavor. 애트모스피어 치란사료카고시마의 치란차와 프렌치 베이스 퀴진을 제공하는 카페. 카고시마 출신의 공간 디자이너 나카모리씨가 가족이 재배하는 치란차를 많은 사람들이 여유롭게 즐겨 주었으면 하는 마음에서 2015년 1월에 시작한 곳이다. 치란차는 차 생산량 일본 내 2위를 자랑하는 카고시마의 대표적인 차로 아름다운 녹색과 단맛이 감도는 깊은 맛이 특징이다. 차와 함께 즐길 수 있는 보기에도, 먹기에도 좋은 요리에는 신선한 채소를 주로 사용한다. 낮은 온도에서 추출해 감칠맛과 단맛이 잘 우러난 치란차와 함께 여유로운 한때를 즐기자.

카마도 신사연인, 가족, 친구, 일 등 다양한 인연을 이어준다고 하는 카마도 신사. 호만잔 산기슭에 1350년 전부터 자리해 온 이곳에 2012년, 현대적인 디자인의 부적 판매소가 신축되며 참배객들을 시공을 초월한 공간으로 이끌고 있다. 전망대 테라스에 놓인 재스퍼 모리슨이 제작한 의자에 앉으면 다자이후 거리를 한눈에 내려다볼 수 있다. 이곳에서 판매되는 멋진 부적은 선물하기에도 제격이다. 교통편은 다자이후역에서 도보 40분, 또는 마을버스로 약 10분 소요.

KAMADO JINJA SHRINE For over 1,350 years, people have been coming to Kamado Jinja Shrine on Mt. Homan to pray to the god of en-musubi (roughly, “matchmaking”) for good relationships, romantic or otherwise. In 2012, the juyosho (shrine office) was renovated—juxtapos-ing modern design with ancient tradition. On the observation deck, you can sit in Jasper Morrison-designed chairs as you take in vistas of Dazaifu. Why not pick up some stylish ofuda and omamori (good luck charms)? This shrine is a 40-minute walk or 10-minute local bus ride from Dazaifu Station.

코우노토리최근 떠오르는 라멘이 바로 토리파이탄. 닭을 푹 고아 만든 우윳빛 스프를 사용하는데 이곳 코우노토리에서는 일본산 영계와 콜라겐이 풍부한 부위인 닭발을 8~10시간 정도 고아내 한층 더 진한 맛을 자랑한다. 이 스프에 가다랑어 베이스의 일본풍 스프를 추가하여 깔끔한 맛을 낸 토리파이탄 소바, 진한 스프 맛을 제대로 느낄 수 있는 진한 토리파이탄 소바, 진한 츠케멘 중에서 원하는 메뉴를 고르자. 진한 스프는 시오(소금), 쇼유(간장) 두 가지 맛 중에서 고를 수 있다. 토핑은 파, 멘마(말린 죽순), 닭고기 경단과 닭고기 챠슈 등. 옵션 아지타마(삶은 달걀) 추가 시 +100엔. 발권기를 이용해 주문해야 하나 잘 모를 경우 언제든 직원에게 물어볼 수 있다.

KONOTORIRamen soup comes in many flavors, from pork bone and soy sauce to miso and seafood, but one flavor that has recently come into vogue is tori paitan, or chicken broth. Tori paitan is a rich, milky white broth made from whole chickens and chicken bones which are stewed for 8~10 hours until the soup reaches a porridge- like consistency. You can choose from three types of noodles: tori paitan soba (mellow broth, ¥650), noko tori paitan soba (rich broth, ¥700) or noko tori tsuke men (rich broth with noodles served on the side for dip-ping, ¥750). Enjoy the tsukemen with flat noodles, and the soba with chijire (curly noodles). Flavor your dish with either salt or soy sauce, and then garnish it with green onions and bamboo shoots, or, if you want the full poultry experience, chicken meatballs or chicken char siu. Or how about an egg boiled in Japanese dashi (¥100)? Don’t forget to purchase your tickets from the vending machine in advance - the staff can help you.

Teppanyaki Mitaki takes its name from an old inn in Hiroshima, one which used to host shogi and go tour-

naments back in the day. This restaurant, located in a renovated house in upscale Sakurazaka, features a counter overlook-ing a small garden as well as private rooms; but you'll want a counter seat for the “tep-panyaki show.” As the chefs deftly prepare locally sourced veggies and Kyushu beef on the gleaming griddle, savor the mouth- watering aromas and the sound of sizzling beef. Why not enjoy a drink as you wait for your elegantly presented meal to be brought your way? If you want to enjoy steak the Japanese way, we suggest wasabi and soy sauce. Place a dash of the green stuff on a bite -sized morsel of steak, dip in soy sauce and voilà: Japanese teppanyaki! And nothing ends a Japanese meal better than rice, so don’t forget to try the garlic rice—it's prepared right on the griddle with garlic, soy sauce, and any juices remaining from your delectable meal.

한적한 주택가에 위치한 철판구이집 미타키. 히로시마에 위치한 같은 이름의 한 유명 여관의 브랜드를 계승하여 사쿠라자카에 있는 개인 저택을 개조한 후 자리 잡게 되었다. 철판을 둘러싼 카 운터석과 테이블 석이 준비되어 있는데 그중에서도 철판구이 쇼를 볼 수 있는 카운터석을 추천한다. 자리에 앉아 음료로 목을 축이며 천천히 철판구이의 세계로 빠져보자. 번쩍번쩍 빛나는 철판 위에서 셰프의 화려한 손놀림에 맞춰 신선한 채소와 큐슈산 소고기가 고소한 향기를 풍기며 입맛을 돋운다. 맛있게 구워지면 잘 드는 칼로 깔끔히 잘라 보기 좋게 담아낸 후 서빙된다. 일본식 철판구이 스테이크는 고추냉이 간장과 잘 어울린다. 한입 크기로 잘려 나오는 스테이크 위에 고추냉이를 소량 얹은 뒤 간장 소스를 살짝 찍어 입으로 가져가면 와규의 부드럽고 풍부한 맛과 고추냉이, 간장의 깔끔한 맛이 어우러지며 진정한 철판구이의 맛을 즐길 수 있다. 일본 요리하면 마지막 코스에서 밥을 빼놓을 수 없다. 고기를 구워낸 철판 위에서 마늘과 간장으로 맛을 내 볶아내는 볶음밥은 철판구이 스테이크의 숨은 주인공이니 꼭 잊지 말고 드셔 보시길 바란다.

KUSHIDA SHRINE SETSUBUN FESTIVAL 2016On the day before the first day of spring, beans are tossed to shouts of “oniwa soto, fukuwa uchi” (Demons out! Luck in!) in a ritual that wards off evil. The path to the shrine is lined with stalls, and Japan’s biggest Otafuku mask (a good luck talisman) greets you at the shrine’s entrance. Expect big crowds!

YOSHIDA BROTHERS’ RECITAL 2016The Yoshida Brothers have been bringing their modern take on tsugaru shamisen (traditional Japanese lute) to local and overseas audiences since 1999. At this special performance, they play their quick-paced melodies while Kyushu Danji Shinsengumi, the breakdance team who won World of Dance 2015, performs.

吉田兄弟三味線だけの世界 2016

櫛田神社節分祭始於江戶時代末期是由撒豆趕鬼，變成為祈願淨化自己消災解厄，受到歡迎的節分。櫛田神社的鳥居張開大口迎接日本最大的阿多福面具。可以看到男女老少與名人撒福豆。為了提高公眾參與的人氣，在豆子中混入糖果和親筆簽名球等等，讓活動每年都擠滿了人潮。

2016 吉田兄弟三味線的世界超越日本傳統表演藝術的框架，吉田兄弟從 1999 開始以津輕三味線和不同的演出家與樂器合作吸引海內外的觀眾。今年的特別來賓是剛獲得街舞大賽冠軍的「九州男兒新鮮組」，以日本樂器和新潮舞蹈的結合，體驗年輕文化帶來的節奏與日本音色激盪的火花。

쿠시다 신사 세츠분사이콩 을 뿌 려 귀신을 쫓고 몸 을 정화 하 는 세츠분 (입춘 전날 밤) . 쿠시다 신사에서는 일본에서 가장 큰 오타후쿠 가면이 입을 벌리고 방문객들을 맞이한다. 마메마키 행사는 콩과 함께 던져지는 과자와 사인볼 등을 차지하기 위해 매년 많은 사람으로 붐빈다.

요시다 형제 리사이틀 2016일본 전통 음악의 틀 을 뛰어넘어 츠가루 샤미센으 로 전 세계를 사로잡아온 지난 16년. 바로 그 요시다 형제가 힘찬 연주로 후쿠오카에 선풍을 일으킬 예정. 스페셜 게스트는 브레이크 댄스팀 큐슈단지 신센구미. 이들과 함께 이색적인 콜라보레이션을 선보인다.

NAGASAKI LANTERN FESTIVAL 2016Nagasaki celebrates its historical ties with China with 15,000 lanterns used in displays throughout the city; including lanterns shaped like Chinese historical figures, astrological symbols and more. Parades, acrobats, lion dancers and festival food too. Just a day trip from Fukuoka and runs for two full weeks.

SHIRAITO SHUZO SAKE BARREL OPENINGTaste sake fresh out the barrel! The Shiraito Sake Brewery is one of only a few in Japan still brewing with the traditional method of hanegi shibori. This barrel opening event includes tastings of the new brews, and you can buy amazake (sweet sake made from fermented rice) and sake-infused breads and sweets.

白糸酒廠酒蔵開倉1855 年起在雷山麓的糸島釀酒商的開倉。使用糸島水稻生產“山田錦”，採用日本少見的傳統釀法 hanegi shibori，做出純度卓越的酒。販賣當日有限定的甜酒和酒廠紅豆麵包，也可試喝新酒、參加酒窖之旅。筑前前原站南口有付費接駁車可搭乘。

In addition to the Startup Visa, another benefit of Fukuoka City’s National Strate-gic Special Zone Initia-tive is the plan to offer a national corporate tax break for startups. Eligible startups in Na-tional Strategic Special Zones will qualify for a 20% (approximate) tax benefit (details on the City’s website).

Fukuoka Mayor Soichiro Takashima, presents the first applicants for the Startup Visa, Thomas Pouplin and Yasmine Djoudi, with their Confirmation Letters of NBIP.

Got a business idea you want to bring to life? Well, starting a busi-ness in Fukuoka just got easier,

thanks to the new foreigner-friendly Start-up Visa. The visa gives entrepreneurs six months to simultaneously begin launching their business and to prepare an applica-tion for longer term resident status, such as a Business Manager visa. As one of the National Strategic Special Zone Initiatives, Fukuoka City has been chosen to imple-ment this exciting new visa, giving budding entrepreneurs a great opportunity to kick-start a business.

Normally, entrepreneurs require Busi-ness Manager resident status to start and operate a business here; but the require-ments for that status are demanding. Ap-plicants must already have an office space, and either capital/investments exceeding ¥5,000,000 or at least two full-time staff who are either Japanese nationals, per-manent residents, spouses or children of a permanent resident or foreign nationals with certain long-term visas.

With a Startup Visa, however, success-ful applicants receive Business Manager resident status for six months without hav-ing to fulfil the requirements listed above. To get the Startup Visa, entrepreneurs submit a New Business Implementation Plan (NBIP). That is reviewed by Fukuoka City Council and, if the plan is deemed viable, a Confirmation Letter of NBIP is issued. With that in hand, the applicants can formally apply for a Startup Visa.

Applications must be made in Japanese but in Fukuoka, help is at hand. Tenjin’s Startup Café supports foreign entrepre-neurs with the various stages of building a business, and can be utilised by any en-trepreneur to ensure the smooth-running of both their venture and their Startup Visa application.

When applications opened in early December 2015, Thomas Pouplin and Yasmine Djoudi, the partners behind Ikkai,

an online platform which crowdsources everyday tasks to students, were the first to apply. On Jan. 15, they received their

Mayor Takashima’s New Year’s Pledge Since ancient times, Fukuoka has been an important gateway between Asia and Japan, but the city’s presence is now stronger than it has ever been. This is due to two reasons: 1) our geographi-cal proximity to the global engines of growth in Asia, and 2) the growing need for a city on the Sea of Japan side of Japan to sustain government functions in the event of a massive earthquake on the Pacific Ocean side, where most of Japan’s urban centers are concentrated. I believe Fukuoka is the only city that fits this bill since it has the lowest disaster risk in Japan, can provide sufficient urban services, and has excellent transportation connections with other parts of Japan and the outside world.

While Japan’s population dwindles, Fukuoka’s continues to grow, and oppor-tunities to create an even more vibrant community abound, as evidenced by the redevelopment projects in Tenjin and the Waterfront. As a designated city with prefecture-level authority, Fukuoka must serve as a model of speedy and effective governance, not just for Japan but for the whole world. This year, I look forward to working with you to further elevate Fukuoka’s presence both at home and abroad.

Are You Prepared for Tax Time?The deadline to file income tax returns for 2015 is Mar. 15, and sole proprietors must pay consumption taxes by Mar. 31. Make sure you file and pay your taxes on time, and contact your nearest tax office if you have questions. You can file your taxes at one of the following filing venues during the designated time frame: Fukuoka/Hakata District: Solaria Stage Bldg. 6F Nishitetsu Hall; West Fukuoka District: Fukuoka Tower Hall; Kashii District: Kashii Tax Office.

95.3% on Opinion Poll Say Fukuoka is “Livable”Every year, City Hall conducts an opinion poll on city government with 4,500 adults to generate basic data for policymaking. In the June 2015 survey, 2,507 citizens, or 55.7% of the target group, answered the survey. The results of the survey have been compiled into a pamphlet that will be available online, at the Information Plaza (City Hall, 1F), and the Information Corners in each ward office on Feb. 1.

Outdoor Advertising Permits Centralized at City HallStarting on Apr. 1, if you would like to apply for an outdoor advertising permit, you will need to visit the City Design Section on the 4th floor of the City Hall main building. To alleviate illegal posting around the city, operations have been streamlined at City Hall; you can no longer file for permits at ward offices. Remember: advertising on signal posts and utility poles is generally prohibited.

Fukuoka Yoruhaku 2016Fukuoka Yoruhaku (“Night Expo”) 2016 is a series of nighttime events, featuring everything from dining to music, held dur-ing the month of February. Other activities include a "stamp rally” and new sake tast-ing. For details, visit a tourist information center (Hakata Station or Tenjin) or the Information Plaza (City Hall, 1F) to pick up a leaflet.
