FROM THE PRINCIPAL Well Term 3 has reached a conclusion—how did that happen so quickly? The last few weeks have included our Open Night, Principal’s Lunch and visits from Constable Care! Principal’s Lunch Last Tuesday, we hosted our Term 3 Principal’s Lunch. Two students from each class were invited to a special lunch with Mrs Nash and Mr Davis. The children enjoyed being served some yummy food, whilst we heard all about why they were chosen by their teacher. They told us about their great listening skills, showing kindness to others and being able to count to 20!! Following lunch, the children were able to enjoy some special play time also. I would like to thank the children for making our day with their lovely manners and great attitude!

Open Evening Wednesday 12 September was our open evening, where our families had the opportunity to see all of the wonderful things our little Oakwooders have been learning this year. The classrooms looked fantastic and I would like to acknowledge the work of our wonderful staff! The P & C provided food for sale and enabled our families to enjoy dinner whilst attending the open night. We are so grateful to the volunteers who made this happen, they are such a supportive team! A big thank you to Candice Morrison, who arranged a donation of a light tower from Coates Hire Kwinana. We are so lucky to receive this support for our events. With Kendra Hayes providing fun activities for kids and the glow sticks being sold to raise money for a family in need, it was truly a community event and we thank you all for joining us on the night.

Growing Together Winners Last Thursday turned out to be a great day for our school as we came away with the $10 000 first prize in the Mandurah Forum Growing Together competition. Mrs Nash and I attended the announcement having no idea that Oakwood would be receiving a big cheque. We were delighted and this money will be used to help us complete the nature play area later this year. A big thank you to all of our community who collected tokens for us and to the Mandurah Forum for running this initiative!

P & C Update Our P & C raised $500 by selling food at our open evening, which was a great re-turn for their efforts. On Thursday 20 and Friday 21 September, we will be holding free dress days with a gold coin donation to raise funds for sports carnival shades. The winning class in the ‘Small Change for Big Change’ coin collection will be announced this Friday - thank you for your support with this! The next big event will be the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Sunday 14 October. If you can help on the day, please add your name to the list on the door of the toilet next door to the office. You are also welcome to come down and buy a sausage sizzle to support us on the day! Thank you for all of your support and to all our volunteers.

Pre Primary Swimming

Lessons

All Pre-Primary students will participate in an 8-session series of swimming lessons at the beginning of Term 4 at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre as part of the Physical Education curriculum. Permission and information notes went home a few weeks ago and we ask that these be returned to school at your earliest convenience along with the payment to cover transportation.
