About Feature Pieces
Interior designer Sally Gardner was inspired to start her business Feature Pieces because of a desire to embrace colour in interior spaces. After completing her degree at the University of Technology Sydney, Sally observed the trend of using neutrals in residential interiors, almost as if people weren’t confident to use colour.
Sally upgraded her own skills through completing a colour diploma at the International School of Colour Design and
investigated ways that she could help clients to embrace colour. This birthed the idea of having a “Feature Piece” as the centerpiece of a room, and to use it to pull the elements of a room together. Inherent in this plan was the use of colour in lighting, to create ambiance and reflect itself in the other elements.
Feature Pieces provides many of these elements including custom made lampshades, cushions, chairs, bed heads, wall hangings and pouffes. Sally works with her clients to achieve their goal of having a beautiful space, coordinating colour schemes, floor coverings and furnishings. She enjoys helping her clients to make good interior decisions and saving the expense involved in bad decisions.
