PRIORITY SCHOOLS TRAIN-THE-TRAINER: FEA LEADS (LEADING EXCITED ADVOCATES DEDICATED TO OUR STUDENTS) (5 days, Monday - Friday)

FEA Summer AcademyNEW PRIORITY SCHOOLS OFFERING

This five day course for FEA LEADS (Leading Excited Advocates Dedicated to our Students) is a course designed to prepare local teams of trainers to assist early career educators, especially those in high needs schools.

The course will cover topics such as Culturally Responsive Teaching, Student Motivation and Engage-ment, Teaching Tolerance, Effective Feedback and additional skills and sup-ports, which our early career teachers indicated they wished they knew before they started teaching.

Locals should select a team con-sisting of 2-to-5 culturally and ethnically diverse mid-career teachers and para-professionals — such as classroom teacher aides — who have between 5 and 20 years of class-room experience.

Participants are expected to attend all of the sessions and participate in follow-up activities in their local — including delivering training at least two times in the next year — and participating in the EdCommunities Network. The local must commit to facilitating at least three trainings in the next two years.

• Participants’ expenses for attending this training will be paid by FEA, this includes their hotel room, meals, registration fee and materials.

• Participants will earn a stipend upon completion of the follow-up activities during the next school year.

• Space is limited, so send your team nomination early.

This training requires prior approval.

Interested locals must apply by Monday, May 15, 2017.

Local presidents or authorized staff should complete the online application at www.surveymonkey.com/r/fealeads.
