Предмет: английский язык, 6 класс, УМК Spotlight 6Тема: «Прекрасная Шотландия».Тип урока: комбинированный.Цель: познакомить учащихся с географией, традициями, персонажами фольклора, символами и основными достопримечательностями Шотландии.Задачи:обучающие:— создание условий для формирования образовательных компетенций (коммуникативной, социокультурной);— освоение в различных видах речевой деятельности знакомых и новых лексических единиц по теме;— помочь учащимся расширить знания об местоположении, основных символах, традициях, достопримечательностях, выдающихся людях Шотландии, познакомиться с фольклором и мифическими персонажами страны;развивающие:— развитие умений аудирования (извлекать из прослушанного нужную информацию);— развитие навыков поискового чтения;— развитие умений распознавать интернациональную лексику в английском языке и сопоставлять ее с аналогами в родном языке;воспитательные:— воспитание уважения к традициям и обычаям как части культуры разных стран.Материально-техническое оснащение: доска, интерактивная доска, компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, видео материал, раздаточный материал, карта Британских островов.

Ход урока.

I. Организационный момент.

T: Good morning, dear students!

P: Good morning, teacher!

T: I’m glad to see you. Let’s begin our lesson. Sit down, please!

II. Формулировка темы и цели урока.

T: I hope you all know we are having a week devoted to English speaking countries. What English speaking countries do you know?

P: the USA, the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand.

T: You are right, thank you. Have a look at the map and answer my question: What is the name of the group of islands that you can see on the map?

P: The British Isles.

T: What countries are situated on these islands?

P: The UK and Ireland.

T: Right. Today we are going to speak about one of these countries – the UK , and to be exact only about one part of this country. The full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Do you know how many parts this country consists of.

P: Four parts.

T: What are they?

P: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

T: And now we are going to have a wonderful virtual trip to one of these countries. You will watch a video, guess what country we are speaking about and after that you will have to answer some questions in teams.

Then you will get acquainted with mysterious creatures that live in this country and read a fairy-tale about them. You will also have to complete a few tasks after reading it.

You will work in teams. The team which gets the most points wins.

Now please divide into 4 teams. Each team gets a quiz with 20 questions. Be attentive. Make notes while watching the video.

And before you start I would like you to learn some new words ( have a look at the blackboard):

(lake)

(monster, Nessie)

19. Describe Nessie.

( green or grey body, snake-like head, the length of 15m)

20. What is the oil capital of the country?

(Aberdeen)

V. Актуализация знаний о Шотландии. Шотландский фольклор.

Now listen to me, please. Scotland is interesting not only for it’s beautiful nature and national traditions but also for it’s folklore. Scotland is rich in fairy-tales, myths and legends. They are full of mysterious creatures. You have already heard about one of them in the video. It’s monster Nessie. I’m going to tell you about one more interesting character of Scottish fairy-tales, who lives in Scottish houses. Have a look at the picture. Can you guess who it is?

P. It’s a brownie (домовой).

T. Right.

A brownie is a legendary creature popular in folklore around Scotland and England. Brownies are said to live in the houses and help people around the house. However, they do not like to be seen and work only at night, traditionally they like to get some small gifts of food. They usually leave the house if their gifts are called payments, or if the owners of the house misuse them. Brownies make their homes in an unused part of the house.
