FCE Public Lecture The Added Value of Facilities Management: Models for Mapping and Concepts for Managing by Prof. Per Anker Jensen Abstract The lecture will present main results of the comprehensive research that the speaker and other European researchers have conducted on the theme of ”The Added Value of FM” in recent years. This will include the presentation of the so-called FM Value Map, which the speaker has developed based on a large number of case studies in Scandinavia. The FM Value Map will be compared with other models, which have been developed in The Netherlands and Finland based on the disciplin of Corporate Real Estate Management. These models can be used to analyse and demonstrate the different ways that FM and real estate can create added value to organisations and society. Furthermore, the lecture will presents management concepts, which can guide facilities managers to develop strategies and relationships that enhances the implementation of value adding activities. This includes the concepts of Value Adding Management and FM Value Network. The lecture will mainly be based on the anthology: ”The Added Value of Facilities Management: Concepts, Findings and Perspectives”, published in May 2012 with results of the work in a EuroFM research group, which the speaker is leading. About the Speaker Prof. Per Anker Jensen is professor in Facilities Management at The Technical University of Denmark and head of the externally funded Centre for Facilities Management – Realdania Research. He holds the degrees of MSc in Civil Engineering, PhD and MBA. Besides research and teaching he has 20 years of experience from practice as consultant, project manager and facilities manager. He was member of the board of EuroFM and chairman of EuroFM’s Research Network Group in 2007 and 2008. He is currently project manager on a joint EuroFM research project on The Added Value of FM, which started January 2009. Abstract

The lecture will present main results of the comprehensive research that the speaker and other European researchers have conducted on the theme of ”The Added Value of FM” in recent years. About the Speaker

Prof. Per Anker Jensen is professor in Facilities Management at The Technical University of Denmark and head of the externally funded Centre for Facilities Management – Realdania Research.
