2010-2011 District VII Officer Team Susan Wik – Chairperson

FaulktonAdviser – Nikki Melius

Susan Wik is the daughter of Steve and Janet Wik. She attends Faulkton High School,

where she is a senior. Susan serves as South Dakota’s First Vice President and Faulkton

Chapter’s Vice President of National Programs. Susan has organized various

community service projects, served on two peer education teams, and chaired several fundraisers. Besides FCCLA, she is involved

in oral interpretation, school plays, golf, cheerleading, National Honor Society, band,

chorus, annual staff, and is serving as Student Body President. Susan would like to

thank her family, friends, advisors, and teachers for being so supportive throughout

her FCCLA officer term.

Jardy Wasmoen – Co-ChairpersonRedfield

Adviser – Cindy Brace

Jardy Wasmoen is the daughter of Brian and LeAnn Wasmoen. A fifteen year old sophomore, she attends Redfield High

School. In her four years of FCCLA, Jardy has been a District VII Officer twice, a local officer twice, a Community Peer

Educator once, and has attended National Meeting with her Parliamentary

Procedure team. She is also very involved with SADD, dance, theatre, music, and many other opportunities

that come her way. In her small amount of spare time, Jardy loves to dance

randomly and play Ninja with friends.

Hi my name is Kalin Miller and I am your district VII FCCLA secretary. I am a

senior at Highmore High School. I am the son of Jay and Jackie Miller. I have one sibling. Her name is Kendra Miller and she is a senior at Northern State University. Other then FCCLA, I am involved in FBLA, Basketball, Golf,

Drama, and local church and volunteer groups. My goal as your District VII

secretary is to make your district meeting experience as great as possible.

Erika Roeber – TreasurerHitchcock – Tulare

Adviser – Kathy Olsen

Erika Roeber is the seventeen year old daughter of Scott and Kim Roeber.

She is a junior at Hitchcock-Tulare High School. She has been involved in FCCLA for four years. In her chapter, she has held the office of Secretary and is currently Treasurer. She also helps with fundraisers, Santa Day,

and the Blood Drive every year. She is also involved in volleyball, softball, FFA, and 4-H in which she serves in

multiple officer roles.

Emma Gruenwald – Jr. High Representative

RedfieldAdviser – Cindy Brace

Emma Gruenwald is your District VII Junior High Representative. Thirteen years ago,

she became the daughter of Marie Kimlicka. Emma is a resident of Redfield,

South Dakota and is an 8th grader at Redfield Public School. Emma is involved in Competition and Sports Cheerleading. She

is also involved in Students Against Destructive Decisions, Band, and Chorus.

Outside of school, Emma likes to go to sporting events, listen to music, and be with her friends and family. Emma loves working with her fellow FCCLA chapter members in accomplishing something

great. From working in the Haunted House to working concession stands, Emma’s

there!

Opening CeremonyPresident: Gives a rap with the gavel signaling the officers and members to stand, then begins the meeting by stating, “We are members of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. Our mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences Education.”Officers: “Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.”Members:

Junior High RepresentativeBrittany Hinkle

Highmore

Brittany Hinkle is the daughter of Darrel and Kristi Hinkle. She

attends Highmore High School, where she is an 8th grader. Brittany serves as her 4-H club's president and takes part in all 4-H activities.

She is on all local committees in her chapter and participates in several

fundraisers. Other than FCCLA, Brittany is involved in FFA, band,

choir, volleyball, 4-H, and BB-Gun. She would like to thank her family

and her FCCLA group for supporting her and giving her luck.

Junior High RepresentativeBrendan Roth

Redfield

Brendan Roth is the son of Michael and Terri Roth. He is currently an 8th grader at Redfield Junior High School. Besides FCCLA, Brendan is actively

involved in various community service projects, FFA, golf, basketball, soccer, band, chorus, 4-H, and is serving as 8th grade secretary/treasurer. In his

spare time, Brendan enjoys being with family and friends, along with hunting, fishing, participating in and watching sports, and helping out on the family

farm. He would like to thank his family, friends, teachers, and his

advisor, Cindy Brace, for all they have done to help him.

District ChairpersonSamantha Joy

Miller

Samantha Joy is the daughter of Kurt Joy and Tiffiany Moser. She attends Miller

High School, where she is a junior. Sammy or Sam as many people call, she currently serves the Miller Chapter Vice President of Public Relations and Chapter History. Past offices she has held are; Junior High Rep,

part of the leadership team, and also Chairperson. Sammy is currently serving

on the Career Peer Education team. Besides FCCLA, she has been a basketball

cheerleader for 3 years and a football cheerleader for 2 years. She is also in

band and is a dancer in marching band, chorus, and FFA. In her free time she

enjoys babysitting, participating in the local dance program “For the Love of

Dance”, and she also works at the local Dairy Queen.

Samantha has withdrawn her application for candidacy

because of illness.

Redfield

Gabrielle Gruenwald is the daughter of Marie Kimlicka and Jaime Gruenwald.

She attends Redfield High School, where she is a sophomore. Gabby

currently serves as the chapter Vice President and is on the Community Peer Education team. Gabby has

competed at nationals for Entrepreneurship and Parli Pro. She has held the offices as District Junior High Representative and the District

and State Junior High Representative. Besides FCCLA,

Gabby is involved in oral interpretation, cheerleading, band,

jazz band, chorus, FBLA, and Student Council.

Faulkton

Katie Elizabeth Redden is the daughter of Roger and Dawn Redden. She is a

junior at Faulkton High School. She has been participating in FCCLA for four years. She has filled the positions of

Secretary/ Treasurer, Vice President of Peer Education, and Vice President Public Relations throughout her four

years in FCCLA. Katie’s hobbies include quilting, reading, being

outside, dancing, and watching her nephew, Sean. She participates in

softball during the summer. Katie is also a wrestling and football

statistician at FHS.

Highmore

Hayden Houdek is the son of Randy & Deb Houdek. Hayden is a 9th

Grader at the Highmore-Harrold School District. Hayden has

completed Power of One, Step One, attended Rookie Camp, is a local officer, and has participated in

chapter events such as the Going Green Campaign, Character Counts

Commercials, and participated in the “Trick or Treat for a Cause” to collect food items for the local food pantry. Hayden also participates in football, basketball, track, golf, band, drama

club, and is a member of the Lutheran Youth Organization. When Hayden isn’t busy he likes to play video games and spend time with

his friends.
