The Datadock-approved training service maintains this philosophy to offer its trainees appropriate and effective

modules with innovative learning tools.

A life-size test for sprayer drivers

The sprayer and synchronous chip spreader (SCS) simulator allows future machine users to test their features to better decide on which options to select. This means that an operator can try to drive their future machine in a virtual universe entirely representative of reality. Of course, this simulation is in a secure, learning-friendly environment.

Decision support for equipment managers

The simulator also makes it possible to take the place of a spreader or synchronous chip spreader driver to precisely measure the work to be done. In this case, it provides irreplaceable decision support for business owners or equipment managers looking to invest in a machine. They can specifically assess the options they will need based on their site setups.

Adaptation of machines to the field»

Equipment manufacturers’ design offices are often criticised for not heading out into the field to take on board client needs in their daily applications. The Secmair simulator is placed at the heart of the business, as close as possible to the design office. This strategic position allows machine users to pass their comments on directly to the designers of the machines. Also, when creating new equipment variants and options, Secmair’s design office can use simulators to green-light features in an operating environment.

SECMAIRvirtual simulatorSecmair is the first road

maintenance equipment

manufacturer to offer its

clients and partners a

driving simulator for its

equipment. This simulator

has multiple uses. It is used

not only by Secmair teams

for new developments

but also by user or non-

user clients. Secmair has

always innovated both in

the design and production

of increasingly avant-garde

products.

A driver learning tool

The simulator is above all intended to train operators. To handle a vehicle of this type, you need very precise training. On request from owners and operators, machines are increasingly equipped with a range of features. In particular, site traceability tools must be explained in detail to make sure they are used properly and appropriately. Many specific features directly requested by users are fitted on our machines. By using the simulator, Secmair’s engineering teams can try features virtually before adding them to the machine. The different computer setups can be presented. In addition to practical training, the simulator allows the release of more theoretical content. Binder systems, whether pneumatic or hydraulic, can be explained very visually and intuitively for the future operator or mechanics set to work on the machine.Driver training can also be provided, particularly for synchronous chip spreader drivers. Clearly, for this type of machine, the operator cannot simply open and close binder jets and chip chutes: they must be capable of carrying out localised treatment work while driving the machine. The Chipsealer simulator allows recreation

of real conditions on different types of sites. Using this tool, the driver can get to grips with driving their machine in complete safety.

On-site fault detection

The simulator is also used by our hotline after-sales service teams to detect and reproduce faults occurring on site. Clearly, as the simulator is equipped with the same components as the actual machines, the hotliner can instantly explain to the driver on site the methodology required to solve the problem.

Simulators are real communication and training tools

The simulator is transportable. The simulator is used in simplified mode at trade fairs and exhibitions to present the in-cabin environment of our equipment. Secmair also uses augmented reality tools to help sales teams to present the products. This makes it possible to clearly explain the potential uses of a spreader or synchronous chip spreader with these new tools that allow simulation or explanation of key technical points.

TECHNOLOGIEs

Bomag will present cutting edge technologies: Today, as leader in compaction technology, Bomag

offers many types and sizes of machines which are in use worldwide for road and pavement construction. This is due to the company’s power of innovation which has produced many proven technologies for diverse markets and requirements, such as the Bomag Economizer which monitors compaction progress. In the Di-gital Corner, Bomag will demonstrate the technologies which are integrated into the famous yellow and black machines, ranging from light equipment to the heavy-duty asphalt paver model with 10 m paving width, and will show how digi-tisation is shaping the evolution of smart Construction Machine 4.

New innovations at Intermat

The feature-highlight of the new RS 500 stabilizer/recycler on show at Intermat is the milling rotor which can be moved beyond the wheel edge. This allows the machine to operate up to the outermost edge of a road carriageway and still remain safe to manoeuvre. The gradeability, off-road performance and twin-amplitude compaction power is outstanding: the new generation, compact BW 124-5 single drum roller featuring smooth or padfoot drum features safe 4-post Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS/FOPS), travel lever operation for the optional dozer blade, and engine unit

complying with exhaust classification IV/Tier 4. This single drum roller is also available with Economizer. As part of the 360° technology concept, Bomag will present new Tango4 technology for tandem rollers with pivot steering. For the first time, oscillation has been successfully combined with a split drum. Tango4 produces sensitive compaction where needed and is particularly impressive on bends due to lower shearing forces; providing the basis for high quality surface compaction, e.g. on roundabouts.

Immerse yourself in the digital world of road construction

The Bomag range is leading the way with digital high-tech. The company will show its technologies and innovations in reality and virtually at the Digital Corner on the stand. In a virtual reality simulation, visitors will find out exactly how the Asphalt Manager, Vibration and TanGO (tangential oscillation) compaction technologies work and where their strengths lie. Now users can choose from three exciter systems on the latest generation of asphalt rollers. This 360° technology concept makes compaction flexible and universally applicable. With technologies for asphalt construction and earthworks, at the Digital Corner visitors will see Bomag’s ground-breaking solutions in action. for asphalt pavers, as much as 25 percent faster than standard heating systems? How does Variocontrol automatically control the transfer of optimal power on single drum rollers, and prevent over-compaction? How does the proven Bomag Economizer ensure perfect results on soil and asphalt with vibratory plates, trench compactors, single drum rollers or asphalt rollers? Bomag supplies the answer to these questions at Digital Corner with fascinating virtual insights into digital construction machinery – the machines will of course be on show in reality on the stand.

Service 4.0 in augmented reality

There is great potential with the digitisation and networking of construction plant to make processes more efficient and transparent in future. Bomag has been a pioneer in this area; one example being networking tandem rollers with the display and documentation of compaction, temperature and number of passes generated by GPS measuring technology. This system has been successfully been used for five years. The servicing of construction machinery can also greatly benefit from digitisation. So Bomag will be launching its new Digital Field Service at the Digital Corner for the first time. Using augmented reality glasses visitors to the stand will experience the way in which smart service concepts simplify servicing, maintenance and

repair of construction plant. The focus here is not digitisation for its own sake, rather networking information from highly automated machines being put to practical use. The digital service concept also includes the Bomag service app for iOS or Android. With technical data, operating and maintenance instructions, spare parts lists and videos with quick guides, the user has everything to hand – including addresses of Bomag dealers nearby. At the Digital Corner, visitors can find out more about the app and its benefits. The new TanGO4 system uses oscillation in

the split drum for the first time (BW 154 APO tandem roller)

With its highly diverse areas of application, Bomag’s RS 500 recycler/stabiliser is a reliable machine for every construction site

BOMAG 360° technology: The right solution for every task

Every construction site

is different and places

different demands on

people and machines.

To factor this in and to

provide options for all

applications, Bomag offers

a choice of three different

compaction systems. After

all, the optimum results

in asphalt compaction are

achieved by using the right

technology.

The Bomag 360° technology approach provides fitting technology for every application

Double vibration, standard at Bomag, already covers a wide range of applications with its two

amplitudes and individually switchable drums. For special requirements, Bomag offers another alternative, the TanGO system. TanGO stands for tangential oscillation and is used wherever gentle compaction is required. Whether on seams, bridges or close to structures, with its effective direction tangential to the surface, TanGO is always a gentle solution. When compacting with two co-rotating excitation shafts, torque is generated around the drum axis causing it to rapidly alternate its effective direction tangential to its contact surface. The surface is thus compacted at practically double its normal frequency. In addition, with TanGO the unbalanced masses are right at the edge, i.e. tangentially arranged to the circumference. Greater leverage means the eccentric weights can be smaller, meaning that TanGO requires considerably less output power than standard oscillation systems. The Asphalt Manager (AM), which is available exclusively at Bomag, offers even greater flexibility. The operator simply selects the layer thickness and the rest is automatically handled by the AM: subsurface, degree of compaction, temperature or adjustment of the compaction direction.

With the variable amplitude, work can be performed both very powerfully and also very sensitively. This ensures fastest compaction progress, especially on material that can only be compacted with great difficulty. Towards the end of compaction and when the asphalt has cooled down, the amplitude is reduced, which automatically prevents the roller from crushing aggregates as well as drum bounce. Furthermore, for work in sensitive areas, the amplitude can be switched to “oscillation”, which means the AM also includes the TanGO functions and is therefore better able to adapt to the individual requirements of each site.So with its compaction systems, Bomag offers all-round support for the entire compaction process. This 360° approach guarantees that the right technology is available for every application - one source for everything, because Bomag knows what professionals require.

ECOLOGY

- Blending into the surrounding environment: acoustic reduction and visual harmony;

- Ample reduction in gas emissions to comply with the toughest legal limits;

- Management and treatment of emissions (patented), which are fed through a tunnel to the discharge of the mixer and storage bin.

Fumes collectionAsphalt production sites impact the environment with two types of emissions:

1. Conveyed emissions: caused by the drying and mixing phases; 2. Diffuse emissions: generated during loading and unloading

the materials and during other secondary stages of plant operations.

In order to further reduce the diffuse emissions, special exhaust systems can be fitted to convey the emissions into the stack, the site’s single exhaust point. To make the exhaust effective, it must be effected at the moment the fumes are generated and as near as possible to the emission points, special care being taken to limit the exhaust area and protect it from external air flow. The vapours exhausted from the bitumen tanks and those generated during asphalt discharge onto trucks can be collected and treated through special collection systems.

Cleaning systems and fumes treatmentFor eliminating the polluting emissions and odours produced by the plant, a capturing system for diffuse emissions is provided at the discharge points at the truck, skip and mixer, together with an oil separating filter. Finally a further phase can be added which involves the heating of the fumes by feeding them into the hottest part of the plant i.e. the dryer burner. The technical solution that MARINI proposes is covered by International patent and can boast surprising results. And it’s hardly surprising that the system bears the name ZEROVOC.

RECYCLING

Over the years there has been a growing interest in the use of recycling. Throughout the world the trend for professionals to work towards an increase in:- Reuse of raw materials: the lack of aggregates due to

the reduction in quarries operating at both national and international level;

- Energy savings: energy consumption is lowered due to the reduction in aggregate quarrying, transportation and traffic delays;

- Bitumen recycling: not just aggregates are recycled, but also, and above all, the bitumen binder contained in the RAP.

PRODUCTs

TRX 100% 3D view

On average, road construction and maintenance in France use 17% asphalt aggregates in the new asphalt produced. This low rate of reuse of materials is particularly due to technological limits that currently prevent mobile plants from incorporating more than 50% asphalt aggregates. In addition, asphalt formulation methods with these kinds of rates must be specifically studied (reuse of old bitumen, oxidation, etc.) to be proposed with the same durability.

Eurovia (Vinci group), leader in its industry in terms of recycling, set itself the goal of pushing the current technical limit by aiming for excellence, i.e. 100% recycling. With this in mind, Eurovia combined the skills of its Technical & Research Department, and its Equipment Department, with the capabilities of its partner, Marini-Ermont, to reinvent the process and create the world’s first continuous mobile asphalt plant, enabling recycling of up to 100% of asphalt aggregates.

The TRX 100% enables recycling of 0 to 100% asphalt aggregates, with extended production and temperature ranges. The TRX 100% is exceptionally mobile and can be set up quickly and in close proximity to sites. This means that most supplies, i.e. asphalt aggregates, can be produced from site milling products, partially or totally preserving natural resources, but also reducing transport logistics to a minimum and, as a result, the site’s carbon footprint.

TRX 100%’s patented technology, based on low-temperature drying of asphalt aggregates, reuses and preserves binder from asphalt aggregates Longer mixing times, combined with a unique heating system, means «recycled» asphalt, where old binder is completely reused, is guaranteed. The TRX 100% has become the world’s most effective and environmentally-friendly mobile recycling solution.

Eurovia’s «100%-recycled road» project is supported by the French Environment & Energy Management Agency. The aim is to develop techniques and equipment to produce road infrastructure containing only recycled products and achieve the exact same mechanical performance as new materials, in the long-term, at a competitive price. Begun in April 2017, the programme includes study and design, prototyping and demonstration plant phases, a real on-site testing phase, as well as an «optimal» setup approval phase with 100% asphalt aggregates. In parallel, studies and tests will be carried out on the materials produced to check their performance with far stricter requirements than usual.

This will involve a demonstration on a very busy road, a motorway (ASF network), of this new recycling know-how: production of the entire road foundation with a recycling rate of nearly 100%. Once the «100%-recycled» solution’s economic model has been approved, the plant developed should be duplicated in France and internationally for major sites.

eTANKs are a family of high-performance storage tanks, in seaworthy container format - offering flexibility, security, and water tightness. They’re cheap to transport, no civil engineering is required, and they’re quick to both commission and disassemble.

eTANKs have three main applications: • Either storing bitumen – 48m3 version — generally combined with a hot-mix asphalt plant, a modified bitumen or emulsion production plant;

• Or storing emulsion – 48m3 — that can be installed: - either on a separate site as a refill point for spreaders

and other maintenance equipment — the term «autonomous satellite warehouse» is also used;

- or with an emulsion plant, or a hot- or cold-mix asphalt plant;

• Or storing and transporting emulsion - 20m3 version for short-term applications.

eTANKS perfectly meet the needs and expectations of clients looking for a solution with the following advantages:• Negligible transfer costs: transport in approved containers, easy setup with no civil engineering;

• Low energy consumption: increased insulation and full breaking of thermal bridges;

• Respect for the environment: possible integration of a containment tray and 100% electric heating (no heating oil)

• Fits into surroundings due to horizontal format; container colour can be customised.

eTANKS can be backed up, according to client needs, with modular equipment such as built-in unloading, metering, or loading groups, loading arms, etc.

ETRAXX SECMAIR-BREInIng

Digitising road maintenance

Synchronous chip spreader (SCS) driving assistance

The first component of the ETRAXX system is artificial intelligence to detect cracks in the road automatically. Don’t forget that this work, previously carried out by two operators (a truck driver and an operator), is now very often performed by a single truck driver. Much more is therefore demanded of them in terms of concentration as they have to simultaneously drive safely on a road open to traffic and select localised treatment zones.Sensors located at the front of the truck are used to detect the zones to treat (cracking). ETRAXX’s artificial intelligence analyses damage and automatically triggers the opening of the SCS’s jets and chutes to patch the road.

Site traceability

The second innovation is analysis of the site itself. Sensors have already been available for several years on machines to control the quality of work on sites (temperatures, quantities applied, surfaces treated, etc.).GPS allows real-time or subsequent monitoring of the progress of the site and geolocation of problems. However, at a time when energy and fuel savings and machine payload optimisation are decision-making criteria for owners, ETRAXX is an essential tool.By using this technology, the operator knows precisely the spreading machine’s actual working time. Logistics times can be analysed and optimised (binder heating time, transport time, etc.)

The technology can be used on all road maintenance equipment.- Binder spreader,- Synchronous Chip Spreaders (SCS),- Cold-mix bituminous material (CMBM) spreading machine,- Chip spreaders.

Secmair-Breining’s road maintenance equipment can now be considered a

complete success in terms of application quality. The design office’s collaboration with the brand’s client partners saw the

development of a range of machines meeting precision, safety, and easy

maintenance requirements.

sECMAIR-BREINING CEPIA

A one-of-a-kind versatile machine

Secmair’s Cepia is a unique machine intended for all configurations and types of manual work:

- Digging trenches,- Work on pavements, cycle lanes- Work on courtyards, car parks, private driveways.

Simplicity The best innovations are very often the simplest. CEPIA is the clearest illustration of this.Cepia is a power barrow that provides the two features needed to work on these specific sites.

- Moving from the storage truck to the place of application,- Spreading materials.

Effectiveness against MSDThis work is both hard and often the cause of a lot of time off work due to Musculo-Skeletal Disorders (MSD).Cepia eliminates all carrying of heavy loads when handling materials in wheelbarrows. Application with a rake or spade, which is very hard on the back and lower limbs, is also replaced by 100% mechanised work.

High-quality resultsIn addition to user well-being, Cepia clearly improves the quality of the results achieved.

- Chip spreading feature: the quality and precision of chip spreading are identical to working with a surface dressing chip spreader. Its consumption can be considered 30% lower, compared to manual spreading with a spade. The chippings fall approximately 10cm, which guarantees spreading with no risk of chippings rebounding or rolling in the emulsion.

- Asphalt spreading feature (hot- or cold-mix): The Cepia machine enables regular gravity-based application without creating the «hard points» caused by tipping traditional wheelbarrows. Setting of the application table is precise and enables a guaranteed constant height, whatever the banking (trenches, banks, etc.).

Productivity and efficiencyCepia has four times the capacity of a standard wheelbarrow. This means that handling of materials from storage truck to site is divided in four.Furthermore, the pace of work, particularly for chip spreading, means application time can be divided in six.In terms of application of hot- and cold-mix asphalt, productivity is the same, but the number of staff on site is considerably reduced.

Versatile and economical:

BOMAg tandem rollers with two amplitudes

A rotary switch allows the operator to simply switch between the low and large amplitude. On a variety of typical earthworks and asphalt applications, the high amplitude of 0.5 mm provides fast and economical compaction. The lower amplitude provides more sensitive compaction of thinner layers and minimises the risk of crushing aggregates. This results in uniform compaction and an excellent surface finish, leaving the earthworks and subgrade unaffected. In turn, this increases the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of compaction work. Tandem models with this new feature are particularly suitable for work on seams or joints in maintenance and repair work in towns and cities.

As in the past, the advanced tandem models BW 135 AD-5 and BW 138 AD-5 and the combination roller BW 138 AC-5 also provide low operating costs and high compaction power. The powerful 4-cylinder Kubota engine drives these tandem rollers which have a working width of 1,300 mm or 1,380 mm. The integrated measuring technology - the well-known Bomag Economizer - ensures perfect compaction control. The popular ergonomic driver’s stand with a clear all-round view and the intuitive controls allow the operator to work quickly and safely. These versatile models with double amplitude are available worldwide.

Bomag is equipping its light tandem rollers in the 3 to 5-ton class with a smaller amplitude of 0.2 mm in the front and rear drum. This new feature allows the best all-round tandem rollers models BW 135 AD-5

and BW 138 AD/AC-5 to be used on an even wider range of applications. From January 2018, the machines with optional double

amplitude are available worldwide.

Optional dozer blade with tilt function

BW 124-5 single drum roller: outstanding gradeability and off-road performance, a choice of two amplitudes

The BW 124-5 single drum roller is available with a smooth or padfoot drum and is ideal for a range of earthworks compaction applications, such as backfill to structures, landscaping, or trench and pipeline construction. With its compact design and high manoeuvrability, the BW 124-5 is also ideal for inner-city work. For surface or in-depth compaction, there is a choice of two amplitudes (0.85 and 1.7 mm), providing perfect alignment of compaction force to the soil type. This results in high-quality and cost-effective compaction. With significantly larger surface coverage, single drum rollers are a serious alternative to vibratory plates. This is the only single drum model in this weight class, and the BW 124-5 features double pump drive and a limited slip differential axle. The high torque drive provides excellent gradeability and off-road performance: This roller readily handles gradients of up to 55 percent or 29 degrees. The powerful 34 kW Kubota drive meets Stage IV/Tier 4 emissions standards.

Safety and easy operation on the driver’s platform

The driver’s platform has been redesigned and improved: The new 4-post ROPS/FOPS provides the operator with a perfect all-round view for fast and safe handling. Use of the optional dozer blade has been simplified. Instead of operation with the foot pedal, the driver now activates the blade using the multi-functional travel lever. The optional dozer blade is available with up/down function (standard) and float position or with tilt function. This has extended the range of applications to include distribution, profiling and levelling – work commonplace in horticulture and landscaping.

Compaction control with the Economizer option

In addition, users now benefit from the proven Bomag Economizer system on this model. An optional feature, the system provides optimal and intuitive control of compaction. The Economizer is a cost-effective method to measure soil compaction on Bomag single drum rollers. The operator knows how compaction has progressed by means of an illuminated strip; Economizer also alerts the operator to the risk of overcompaction.

Bomag will launch the BW 124-5 single drum roller in Europe in June 2018.

Recycling and stabilizing

with higher outputs and quality

The new double-SCR system has helped to improve the environmental benefits of the RS 650. The two cascaded systems ensure that the latest Tier-4 final emission standards are met. This means this model is suitable for use in Europe and North America.

The operator has an excellent 360-degree view thanks to the central, high working position and the large-scale windows of the ROPS/FOPS cab, even without camera systems. Complemented by intuitive control, safety is also enhanced by this cab design because the clear view of the working edges allows the machine to manoeuvre safely. Also, the rotation of the seat by 2x45 degrees offers stress-free working even on long shifts. In addition to the diesel engine, the travel system, electrics and assistance systems have been upgraded. By way of example, another new feature is the four camera system, which allows an excellent all-round view up to the milled edges, while the eight LED lights and two working head lights provide good visibility at night. Modern safety regulations are met with no compromise in efficiency.

Depending on site requirements, the output of the RS 650 can be adjusted to milling widths of 2.40 m and 2.60 m. This gives significantly higher surface coverage. The RS 650 is designed to mix soil with binders to a depth of 60 cm. Additives include water, bitumen emulsion, foamed bitumen or cement slurry, as specified. In addition, the Flexmix technology developed by Bomag allows infinitely variable crushing of materials. The stabiliser is used in South America in this way for road recycling and soil improvement. First of all, the old road is pulverised and then mixed with cement, water, emulsion and bitumen to produce a new, load-bearing sub-base. The mixed-in-place method using the RS 650 has proved cost-effective and efficient, as locally available materials can be used, and only the binders need to be shipped in. In this way, both transportation and logistical costs can be cut. Additionally, the reduced number of trucks and the resulting lower fuel consumption means lower CO2 emissions, and this also improves the overall environmental footprint.

With the expansion and restructuring of this product range, «RS» is now the established

designation at Bomag for recyclers/stabilizers. The latest model in the range is the RS 650, launched in October 2017; this unit is suitable for stabilizing

and recycling within the scope of medium and large-scale construction projects. This model has

10% more power than the previous version.

The Dynapac city paver is ideal for use on city streets and road construction. It is also perfect for repair jobs, thanks to paving widths from 0.70 m to 4.70 m and an impressive laying capacity of 350 tonnes per hour. The City Paver is a cost-conscious choice of equipment that enables our customers to increase their competitiveness in the industry and improve their efficiency on the job-site.

“In a highly competitive market, Dynapac customers are increasingly seeking ways to maximize their operating profit and reduce their costs of operations through a conscious choice of equipment. That is when Dynapac’s City Pavers show their great advantage,” explains Thiberio Tanus, Marketing Product Manager for Compact and City Pavers. “The City Pavers achieve their cost saving elements that range from the initial investment to the cost of maintenance. These savings are reached by the reduction in scale compared to our larger pavers without compromising functionality or the quality of the results.”

Maximize on investment

Thanks to the SD1800’s smaller scale compared to Dynapac’s larger range of pavers, the cost of investment for our customers is less, resulting in reduced cost of capital without compromising functionality or quality in any way. A wise choice for equipment with a perfect fit to the application will maximize the operating profit by bringing the costs down to a minimum. The Dynapac City Paver is a safe choice because it delivers the same results as the large pavers within its working width capability with remarkable cost benefits. The savings range from fuel economy, cheaper wear parts and, of course, a lower cost of capital.

Optimized performance and mobility

Since City Pavers are often used on multiple job sites on the same day, inefficient set-up and transport times can be costly. For this reason, Dynapac has created features and functions to optimize transport and set-up times. With SetAssist, exclusive for Dynapac Pavers, paving parameters can be stored from one job site and can be replicated on the next job site without any start-up time. Other time-saving functions include patented quick coupling screed extension boxes and foldable auger tunnel plates, which do not need to be removed during transportation. All designed to save time and increase efficiency.

DyNAPAC introduces its Generation VI of

tandem asphalt rollers

“While the CC1100 VI – 1200 VI and the CC4000 VI to the CC6200 VI asphalt rollers vary in both size and functionality, they are all designed with the operator in mind”, says Lars Lundahl, Product Marketing Manager for asphalt rollers.

The small tandem asphalt rollers comfortable and modern driver´s environment has been made even better. The spacious and vibration-damped operator platform enables great operator comfort even during long working days. A new comfort seat that can be adjusted to the operator’s weight is now available. The forward and reverse lever follows the sliding seat for better ergonomics and better control. Furthermore, an optional dual forward and reverse lever provides improved control of the compaction process. A canopy protecting the driver from different weather conditions also facilitates the operator´s comfort and efficiency.

For the large asphalt rollers, Dynapac has, for some time now, utilized offset steering that is a unique combination of articulated steering with a steerable rear drum. For Dynapac’s CC4000 VI - CC5200 VI rollers, this concept has been taken one step further. The offset is increased to 520 mm and uses the front drum for offset steering. This enables for a very small turning radius and superior control of the front drum edges. This, when used in combination with the steering hitch, makes it possible to move a larger portion of the machine mass inwards on the road when compacting weak road edges. Jeanette Karlsson, Product Marketing for Small Asphalt Rollers, proudly explains that “We have managed to successfully create a new generation of rollers that provide unmatchable visibility with an optimal view of the drum, resulting in robust, comfortable and modern machines for best compaction results”.

The Generation VI asphalt rollers, with their robust design and newly-branded Dynapac colors, have been well-received on the market.

JOB REPORTsTarget achieved: 1 million tons in 1 year in Qatar with the MARINI Top Tower 3000 P

1,000,000 tons in one year! it might seem like something out of the wildest of dreams, especially in view of the difficult times the asphalt world is currently experiencing, but what we are talking about is something truly real. Alcat contracting company, one of the most important asphalt producers and sellers, based in doha, qatar, has achieved this impressive result with an almost unbelievable ease.

Marini TT 3000 P

MARINI TOP TOWER 3000 P

Performance and reliability: the key to a centennial success

Several reasons explain this target, the first one being the effective commercial policy recently pursued by the Company and its widespread

presence reached on the Qatari market, combined with the choice of an extremely high performance and reliable partner: Marini Top Tower 3000 P asphalt plant.

Alcat’s Top Tower 3000 P is a batch plant capable of achieving a 240tph production rate, with a storage capacity of 100 tons. Despite its age (it was set up in 2013, sharing the same job site with a previously acquired Marini MAP155, and is still in perfect working order), thanks to its compact and innovative design, with the filter installed on top of the dryer, this plant continues to represent the best in state of the art asphalt production. The proof? The ease with which the asphalt plant has matched all the targets required by recent Qatari standard

QCS2014, one of the strictest and most rigorous specifications currently found in the road construction field.

The increasing market demand, together with the finalization of the asphalt supply for the Orbital Highway, one of the strategic infrastructural works launched by local government in preparation for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Championship, has pushed Alcat to run their Top Tower 3000 P at its maximum pace for more than 300 days in 2017, with production peaks of uninterrupted activity for 24 hours per day, 6 days per week.

An unconceivable effort for any other asphalt plant, considering all the problems of wear and tear that could result from such high usage, in particular in such a difficult environment as the Gulf area. Figures talk better than anything else: from October 2016 to November 2017, approximately 980,000 tons were produced, at a monthly rate of 70,000 tons, peaking at a maximum of 110,000 tons in the months of January and February 2017.

This undeniable successful story is expressed through the words of the client, starting from the plant operator right up to the G.M., which illustrate not only satisfaction with the results achieved, but also wareness of being able to count on machinery that will support all staff in all circumstances, even the most difficult. To combine performance and reliability has always been the Marini way and the key to its centennial success.

Faithful to its slogan «Any Asphalt. Anywhere», the RM 120 Allroad, the latest member of the Roadmaster family, could imagine nothing better

than to participate in the development and maintenance of one of the world’s most beautiful islands, Tahiti.

The RM 120 Allroad, developed through collaboration with our clients and partners worldwide, is aimed at:

- Either new clients starting up a hot-mix asphalt production activity, on the lookout for an easy-to-use asphalt plant, to achieve a perfect finished product at a lower cost;

- Or expert clients looking for a strategic tool, combining the very latest technologies and extreme mobility suited to all types of sites, including airports.

In the case of the Boyer group, a major player in Polynesia on the special foundations, construction, and civil engineering markets, who wanted to also launch its road asphalt activity, the RM 120 Allroad proved the perfect tool. The client also backed up their investment by acquiring several items of top-of-the-range equipment from the Fayat Group Road Equipment division (SAE emulsion plant, Bomag paver and compactors).

The RM 120 Allroad naturally meets all the client’s expectations. This asphalt plant’s low site coverage meant it could be installed on a cramped site, and fully fitted into its surroundings, as its maximum height does not exceed 5m.

In addition, equipped with the same metering and automation technologies as all

Marini-Ermont plants, the RM 120 Allroad produces irreproachable quality asphalt, while optimising energy consumption, and guaranteeing production with extremely low emissions, thanks to the Retroflux drum and compressed air-assisted atomizing burner. The RM 120 Allroad is also highly advantageous due of its extreme mobility, which makes for significantly reduced transport costs, and its high ground clearance, which means it can be used on production sites anywhere in the world.

With the RM 120 Allroad, Boyer acquired the most effective and efficient asphalt plant in Tahiti. After 6 months’ use, 13,000 tonnes of asphalt have already been produced!

Fiedler GmbH & Co KG from Röhrnbach has wide expertise in removing concrete and asphalt pavments in layers or, as in the case of the B 85,

full depth removal. Fiedler uses Bomag equipment including the BM 600/15 and BM 1300/35 cold planers and is extremely pleased

with the performance of these models. As cold milling is an important initial step in the structural maintenance and upgrade of road and traffic areas, milling specialist Fiedler takes no risks with equipment or staff, using only proven machines and highly qualified machine operators. These Bomag cold planers remove asphalt or concrete surfaces rapidly to create a true-to-profile base for the construction of new layers.Due to the tight construction schedule, full removal had to be completed before the first frosts at the end of 2017 to allow the subsequent stage of construction to proceed on schedule. Using a risk-avoidance Fiedler has chosen Bomag again, this time with the new BM 2200/75 model. Some of the factors Georg Fiedler, company owner, and Hans Kraft, Managing Director, appreciate about these Bomag planers are their power, reliability, and low operating costs; for example, the low fuel consumption and longer service life of components. Highway contractors depend

on easy, straightforward transportation of their equipment from site to site. The design engineers at Bomag have come up with a novel solution for the largest cold planer in the range. The entire milling box with drum is equipped with a quick change system. Georg Fiedler and Hans Kraft were impressed by the efficiency of this system. The complete removal for the extension of the B 85 is carried out in two stages, extending it to 22,00m². Firstly, the surface course was removed with an average thickness of 4 cm; in the second milling step, the bearing course was removed with an average layer thickness of 26 cm. Although mixed materials and differing layer thicknesses were found in the course of milling work on the B 85, the BM 2200/75 readily handled these variable materials and thicknesses, in readiness for the new road.

The BOMAG cold planer clearing the way for a four-lane expansion

As elsewhere in Germany, the redevelopment of a federal highway is currently underway on the b 85 section between Amberg and pittersberg. The new bm 2200/75 cold planer from bomAG has certainly demonstrated its capabilities on a total removal of the old pavement structure. Roadworks began in mid-June 2017. To ensure that the high flow of traffic on this important section of the route is guaranteed in future, long-term traffic planning for the industrial area and the A 6 includes a cloverleaf junction, a familiar sight on motorways.

As a contractor close to the Czech Republic and

Austrian borders, I have to pay close attention to competitive advantages, which BOMAG

machines deliver every time for me.

“ ”

Wille’s grandfather started the company in 1970, originally renting oil-driven energy generators for local

needs. Shortly thereafter, Norrköping Byggmaskiner AB started focusing on the construction and road building industries. They have stayed there ever since.“We rent and service construction equipment for compacting, digging, and transporting of construction material. That is what we do. Our passion is for compaction machinery, in particular Dynapac”, explains Wille. “I have 31 different types of compactors in my fleet, all of which are Dynapac machines. We have a fantastic history with Dynapac. The machines are reliable, easy to serve and are appreciated by our rental customers.”

What are the key factors? What makes Dynapac so great?Wille explains that reliability of Dynapac’s quality and service are key factors. “When I rent a machine to a customer, there is no room for disruptions. These are costly, for both my customers and my company. Another key factor that keeps me coming back to Dynapac when it is time for me to purchase a compactor, I want great service, easy access to spare parts and short delivery times. If I am kept waiting, then my customers are kept waiting. Every second matters”.

Are there any particular features that you like on Dynapac rollers?“The greatest feature for me is most definitely Dyn@Link. Dynapac’s well-renowned telematics GPS communication

system. With Dyn@Link, I can sit at my desk and monitor my fleet. I can see exactly where my machines are geographically. I can also see vital information such as engine running hours. Dyn@Link also sends out notifications for service intervals that helps me run at a high efficiency and utilize my facilities and personnel to a maximum”.Wille has his personnel training at Scandinavian’s Customer Service Center in Karlskrona, Sweden. “It is important for my team to know our Dynapac machines, inside and out. Thanks to the great customer care program and training opportunities provided in Scandinavia, my team knows our Dynapac fleet, and we have a great relationship with the Scandinavian sales and service team as well.”

So what will your next Dynapac purchase be?“I can proudly say that I have just purchased one of the newest CC1200 generation VI asphalt rollers. It is of a robust design, and we will be the first company in our area in with the new Dynapac branding colours.”Who wants to come second? Not Byggmaskiner-gruppen Sverige AB, that is for sure.

At every demonstration, Cepia passed the test for one good and simple reason: the machine was designed by operators, for

operators.

Two Cepias are better than one!The demonstration campaign revealed a major change to how manual work is organised.Previously, traditional teams divided the work up among themselves; one team of operators to transport material and another to apply it.Cepia is a two-in-one machine, meaning it’s best to use 2 machines in parallel to optimise profitability and increase the rate of work on site.

Cepia meets new safety requirements on hot-mix asphalt sites.Recent events have sadly shown the danger of refilling an asphalt wheelbarrow behind a tipper truck using a coal chute. These cases of burial, due to failure to lock the truck’s tailgate, forced the profession to take a fresh look at how to fill wheelbarrows.Secmair now proposes a range of solutions to meet safety requirements:

- Cepia with extended arm. Cepia can now be equipped with telescopic handlebars allowing the operator to be more than three meters from the truck’s tailgate.

- The PV280 gate enables loading of materials via the sides of the truck. Its large-diameter auger guarantees filling of a standard barrow in fewer than five seconds.

Cepia rolls onSince the start of 2018, Cepia’s demonstrations have resumed all over France on request from numerous clients. As demand for this type of manual application

is global, plans are already in place to extend this experiment outside Europe.

Cepia was recognised by the Innovations Awards jury with a nomination in the public works machines category.

SECMAIR Cepia: Trying it is adopting it!

Since the launch of cepia in July 2017, more than 80 demonstrations have been organised in France,

belgium, and Germany. This demo tour has proved a real success. it’s offered the opportunity for each

application team to test cepia with their own site setups. operators and spreaders, the only people

capable of judging the machine, were able to try it out, manoeuvre it on very demanding sites, and

finally compare it with their current way of working.

Taking account of these changes to the market, Secmair has gone even further by proposing a never-before-seen solution

with Greenswift, which enables not only corrective but also preventive treatment.Launched 3 years ago at Intermat, we can now confirm the quality of work done with Greenswift based on a certain amount of experience.

Three years of sites with GreenswiftSecmair assisted it «pioneering» clients through the whole first three years of testing of the solution. The results are undeniable, the work done confirms the quality of the technology. According to users and instructing parties, Greenswift also offers an incomparable advantage.

- It can treat serious issues such as potholes or flash-type deformations with its jet patching system.

- It can also do the job of a synchronous chip spreader (SCS) for surface treatment, which is obviously not really possible with a simple jet patcher.

Secmair keeps its users safe and healthyHealth and safety are central to all Secmair’s developments. Operators involved in road maintenance work are among the most exposed to the dangers of traffic and most affected by musculo-skeletal disorders Work in open traffic, inhalation of bitumen fumes and dust, and exposure to UV are a few examples of the many risks for the health and safety of operators.Working from the truck cabin solves all these problems while maintaining extremely high-quality mechanised work.

Greenswift is the stealthiest road maintenance vehicleTraffic disruption, particularly in city centres, is not an issue to be ignored.

Traditional teams comprised of at least two machines (jet patcher + roller compactor) and an operator on foot cannot move fast. Road maintenance work requires permanent movement from repair to repair.Greenswift, equipped with its pneumatic roller compactor, is a unique and compact machine, perfectly suited to this type of work.

SECMAIR Greenswift, for environmentally-friendly preservation of road systems

For several years now, sprayed asphalt – i.e. in situ spraying of chippings pre-coated with emulsion – has established itself

in France as an alternative solution for corrective road maintenance. This technology has a large number of advantages:

durability, reasonable quantity of materials used, low energy consumption, stealthy sites are among the arguments that

saw this technology become essential.
