A Budapest Business Journal elôször megjelenô
éves divatkiadványában igyekszünk az elsôk lenni
például abban, hogy egyszerre fókuszálunk a helyi
értékekre, a fi atal tehetségekre és a luxusra. Az állan-
dóan változó, sokszor felszínesnek tûnô, a mutatásról
Coco Chaneltôl tudjuk, a
divat megy, a stílus marad.
Ezért (is) legyünk inkább stílusosak,
mint divatosak. Megéri a befektetés, hiszen míg a
divatot minden évben újra kell vásárolni, a stílus egész
életünkben elkísér.
Tervezôinknek, újságírónknak és fotósainknak is meg-
van a saját, csak rájuk jellemzô stílusa. Mindannyiuk
lételeme az állandó inspirácó, ami megmozgatja az
alkotókedvet, mindannyiuk szeretne megmutatkozni,
mindannyian érzékenyek a szépségre, a harmóniára és
az arányokra. Keresik az útjukat, a tervezôk ezen túl
még piacot és befektetôket is. A kitüntetett fi gyel-
met már megkapták. Reméljük, a Fashion Issue is
Szeretnénk a következô számunkban több
meghódítják, ahol most a legnagyobbak, a luxusmár-
kák tanyáznak. Egy piaci rést is felfedeztünk: míg a
luxusra óriási kereslet van itthon, addig igazi hazai
luxustermék még mindig nem született. Izgatottan
várjuk az elsô befutót.
A Marie Claire vezetôszerkesztôjeként, a Fashion Issue
megbízott fôszerkesztôjeként mondhatom, nemcsak a
most megjelenô magazin számít elsônek a maga nemé-
ben, a benne megjelenôk között sokan a pályájuk elején
vannak, a divatvilág új generációjához tartoznak. Sze-
The fi rst one is forever memorable. The very fi rst issue of
“Fashion Issue” is published at the right place and time.
Local fashion life has never attracted such great attention
from so many people, neither has it received such huge
publicity than this year. In the annual fashion edition of
the Budapest Business Journal to appear for the fi rst
time, we are doing our best and be the fi rst to focus on lo-
cal values, young talents and luxury at the same time. We
are looking for meaningful thoughts and timeless values
in our ever-changing, seemingly superfi cial world that is
often about appearances and showing off.
Let us realise that we do have achievements and people to
be proud of. We have talented designers, great and lucky
skills and remarkable young people starting their career.
If the World were conscious of what we have here, we might
as well be envied. However, for the time being, it is not
known and the “World” might not even be eager to fi nd out.
Yet, there have been promising signs lately. Our young
designers have attracted the attention and interest of the
international world of fashion. Hopefully, as a result, a
simple introduction at a fashion week would be followed by
more genuine interest, exceeding the usual level of mere cu-
riosity. Thus, any Hungarian designer will be considered a
lot more than just another “exotic visitor” from the former
“Eastern block” behind the “Iron Curtain”.
Of course, fashion should probably not be taken too seri-
ously, all the more that by the time one would take it seri-
ously, it is bound to turn around completely. According
to Coco Chanel fashion goes, while style remains. Oscar
Wild believed fashion to be something horrible, if it was
changed every six months. That’s another reason to rather
have style, than be fashionable. The investment is clearly
worth it: While fashion must be purchased each year, style
sees one through life.
Our designers, journalist and photographers all have their
own, specifi c style. They thrive on constant inspiration
that facilitates creativity. They are all sensitive to beauty,
harmony and fi ne proportions and keen to show what
they have. They are both looking for their own ways, as
well as market and investors. They have already received
particular attention. We do hope that the Fashion Issue
will also help bring designers and investors together. We
would love to have the pleasure to report on a success story
in our following issue. We trust that there will be some
from Hungary to fi rst gain international reputation and
may even manage to conquer the highest peaks of fashion,
presently reserved for luxury brands. We have discovered
a market niche, too: while there seems to be high demand
for luxury in Hungary, a real local luxury brand is yet to
be born. We are looking forward to welcoming the winner.
As the deputy editor of Marie Claire and the editor in chief
of the Fashion Issue, I can say that it is not just the maga-
zine in its kind that is brand new. The career of many of
those introduced in the issue is just about to kick off: They
belong to a new generation of the world of fashion. We
would like to be with you for a long time, always notice the
beautiful, the new, the exciting , and be proud of anything
great- particularly if it happens to be ours.

“Je suis belle”, meaning “I am beautiful” is all about gracefulness, feminine stylishness and playfulness. According to
designer duo Dalma Dévényi and Tibi Kiss, the brand name they invented refl ects a happy thought that talks about self-
image, existence and beauty. The brand was established in 2005, but the creators only graduated from the garment design
department of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 2007. They have made debuts at several places worldwide,
including the Berlin Fashion Week. In August this year, Dalma won a New York fellowship for the label. When she returns
in 2012, she will have had 6 months of US experience to back her up. “My boyfriend, fashion photographer Marci Perlaki has
been presented with a great opportunity to work in New York. It was very lucky that we both earned a fellowship at the same
time.” Dalma and Tibi are launching an online shop this autumn. “We gave up the idea of maintaining a global presence as
a small-scale business because of the huge cost. A webshop will hopefully boost both brand awareness and sales.

A brand
maga 2005-ben született, kitalálóik 2007-ben diplomáztak a Moholy – Nagy Mûvészeti Egyetem öltözéktervezô szakán. A
a háta mögött folytathatja újra, itthon. „A barátom, Perlaki Marci divatfotós, óriási lehetôséget kapott New Yorkban. Szeren-
a kézzelfogható külföldi jelenlétnek.

Since launching her label under her own name two years ago, she has enjoyed success after
success. In addition to countless appearances abroad, she has also managed to prove that
there actually is demand for luxurious prêt-à-porter on the Hungarian market.

Photographer, blogger, art historian,
stylist and editor. We have reviewed the six
most exciting fi gures of the Hungarian fashion
scene. Whether new faces or old ones, they all go
about their work with passion and professionalism
and represent a new generation
of the fashion industry.
Fotós, blogger, mûvészettörténész, stylist vagy
magazinkészítô. A hazai divatélet hat
figyelemre méltó arcát gyûjtöttük össze, legyenek
akár új belépôk, akár régi motorosok, mindannyian
szenvedéllyel és professzionálisan végzik a dolgukat
és a divatszakma új generációjához tartoznak.

Fáradhatatlan és termékeny
fotográfus. A hazai divatszakma
egyik legnagyobb reménysé-
ge, karakteres egyénisége.
Mindössze egy éve diplomázott
a Moholy-Nagy Mûvészeti
Egyetem fotó szakán, de munkái
ugyanúgy megjelentek már
kortárs mûvészeti alkotásokat
bemutató múzeumok falain és
gyûjteményében, mint hazai és
nemzetközi divatlapokban. Nagy
visszhangot kiváltó diploma-
munkája, az új szépségideált
bemutató Új generáció a mai
napig beszédtéma. A Fashion
Issue arculatát az ô látásmódja
határozza meg, a címlap mellett
a Look the business és a Make
up art & deco összeállításokat kö-
szönhetjük neki. Itthon elsôként,
világviszonylatban az elsôk között
saját iPhone ésiPad – applikációt
fejlesztett, ahol nyomon követ-
hetjük különbözô art és fashion
projektjeit. Egyik vágya, hogy a
közeljövôben az olasz Vogue ma-
gazinnak készítsen divatanyagot,
de szerintünk ez csak az egyik
korai állomás lesz valószínûleg
nagy ívû pályáján.
Több hazai, már befutott stylist
kapott kedvet és inspirációt
a styling munkához csak
azért, mert egyszer látta ôt
munka közben. Stílus és trend
érzékeny, jellegzetesen fi nom
összeállításai már messzirôl,
akár óriásplakátokról is
felismerhetôek. A nôiességben
és az alapvetô értékekben hisz,
de idônként azért az is kiszalad
belôle, hogy „ez a divatvilág
azért egy vicc”. Az egyik
legfontosabb üzenete, hogy
ahhoz, hogy valaki stílusosan
és jól öltözzön, nem kell sokat
költeni, elég jól választani. „Van
abban egy fricska, amikor egy
designer darabot egy bizsuval
teszek még izgalmasabbá, de
a legkomolyabban gondolom,
hogy a divat és a legújabb tren-
dek bárki számára elérhetôek.”

She is a tireless and productive
photographer, one of the biggest
hopes and a prominent fi gure of
the Hungarian fashion industry.
She graduated from the photogra-
pher orientation of the Moholy-
Nagy University of Art and
Design just a year ago, but her
work has already been displayed
in museums among contemporary
art collections as well as in Hun-
garian and international fashion
magazines. Her highly praised
thesis work ‘New generation”
presented the new beauty ideal
and is a hot topic to this day. The
look of Fashion Issue is defi ned by
her vision. In addition to the cover
page, the columns Look the busi-
ness and Make up art & deco are
also her work. She was the fi rst
person in Hungary and among
the fi rst worldwide to develop a
special application for iPhone and
iPad to keep track of her various
art and fashion projects. It is her
greatest ambition to take fashion
photos for the Italian Vogue.
We are convinced this will only
represent an early stage in her
brilliant career.
Many Hungarian, already
successful stylists were
inspired by seeing her work.
Her style and trend-oriented,
characteristically refi ned
designs are recognisable from
afar, even on billboards. She
is a believer in femininity and
basic values and at the same
time cannot help remarking
that “this whole fashion world
is a joke”. One of her most im-
portant message is that everone
can dress well and stylish, and
it is not the question of money,
it is the question of taste and
know how to choose. “There is
titillating, when I use together a
designer piece with a cheap bijou,
I think it could be really exciting
fi nally, but I’m really belive in it,
everyone can reach the fashion
and can dress in style. “

Dress Code Guide
One of the most useful institutions in a civilised society is
dress code, since it answers questions such as
“What should I wear?” when standing puzzled in front
of the wardrobe. Therefore, if you see a one or two-word
expression on an invitation card you received recently,
you can be relieved to say “I know what I will wear!”
A civilizált társadalom kétségkívül legpraktikusabb dolgai
közé tartozik a dress code intézménye – hiszen a gardrób

– over 55 years of concepts and
dreams realised.
