Fashion Spread Production Process (LO4)

Olivia Lewis-Brown

Stage 1 Colour Correction and ContrastWhen beginning editing this landscape spread I wanted to make the colours within the mise en scene and the models face bright and appealing so as to capture the attention of my target audience. I used the brightness bar in photoshop to brighten the natural lighting of this image and used a slight contrast feature to accentuate the natural brightness of colours such as greens and auburn's within the image as well as create slight shadow on the models face to give the image depth. The lighting was important in highlighting the halo effect around my models head which signifies her as being the main focal point whist also representing the aspects of summer being sunny. The lighting also helped define the models silhouetted against the shallow focus of the mise en scene background again all camera features and techniques meant to establish the model and her clothing as the main focal point.

Step 2Adding Titles. For this part of my editing I wanted to clearly establish the running genre throughout my photos being Spring Fashion. The double entendre ‘Spring Fever’ is used as a conventional stylistic of a fashion magazine to give the atmosphere of the fashion spread seem friendly and informal. The bold font clearly represents the theme to the audience while the style of the font being a retro style gives the look of the image a delicate look. The use of bright yellow conforms with the colour scheme of the image.

Step 3Adding BylinesBylines give relative information regarding the product such as the photographer and the relevance of the photoshoot being to showcase the ‘Style this season’ bylines conforming to the conventional layout of a fashion magazine spread. The text angled and outlined in a white box helps bring attention to the bottom of the image equalizing audience focus on different parts of the image. The style being roughly trimmed and slanted keeps with the informal stylistics established. The use of the pun “ Put some fun and sun” giving an overall positive message using the connotations of Spring

Final Cover Image Adding product information, models name and prices My final edit to this image was to include the relevant product information regarding what is displayed in the image. For this I included brand names, prices and detailed explanations of what the model is wearing and her makeup pick which has become a main feature through this medium close up focusing on her face as well as her clothes.
