Target sells itself as an "upscale discount retailer providing high-quality, on-trend merchandise at attractive prices in clean, spacious and guest-friendly stores." For the most part I would agree with this. It is a good decision to use the word "attractive" instead of "cheap" to describe the prices. Cheap stores attract cheap people. Target attracts a variety of people and you can find almost anything there from groceries, storage, fashion, outdoor and indoor design, and music and television products. The Target store in Northbrook has had the same layout for years until they recently added a grocery section. I thought it was a little strange to have food place right across the walking way from the young women's department and hosiery department. I feel like it would have been better to divide that up with a traditional element like housing decor, but that is placed in the back of the store. The men's department is in the back left by the bikes and sports section. At the front left side of the store is the electronic section and in-between those is usually school and office supplies. Target is a one-stop-shop and that is why it is popular for families to go to together. Their clothing lines have a variety of colors and patterns that reach a wide audience. Target's designers are usually inspired by larger fashion brands and then are knocked off too look like a higher priced item at an "attractive price. The target women's section always has jeans, sweaters, and a sale rack. Other aspects change by what is popular at the time. Most fabrics used are cottons. I think target is a great place to shop for little things and accessories that you can just run and pick up and you know that they will have exactly what you are looking for. Department stores are known for consistency and reliability.
