Thank You Chamber Members! What an awesome year at your local Chamber of Commerce! I am so proud of the many accomplishments we have achieved together as a Membership. We’re excited to have 40 new members join this ever expanding organization. These wonderful additions grew our membership to 275 total members at the end of our fiscal year, July 31, 2014.

Not only did your Chamber expand in numbers, but also in activity this past year. The 1st Annual Holiday Awards Reception was received very well by all in December. Over 150 members & guests attended to help celebrate the inaugural year of these special awards for Member, Citizen, Business, New Business & Board Member of the Year. An awesome shopping experience via Silent Auction helped pay for the Party and allowed us to keep it free to members with a nominal fee for guests. A strong Membership Committee was formed to help plan and execute this event, which helped secure its great success.

In April, we welcomed the addition of the annual Small Business Community Showcase. Longwood Small Business Development Center invited the Chamber to partner with them in this Business Expo, and it turned out even greater than any of us expected. Vendors and attendees received an action-packed informative day, full of new leads, great speakers, increased business, and good times networking.

At the Chamber, we are continually striving to enhance “Member Value”. To encourage members to shop locally with one another, we revived the Member2Member program. This revival boasted over 31 participants, which was a great increase from the 9 the Chamber had during its last issue of the valuable discount card. More and more members are reaping the benefits this growing Chamber has to offer.

The Chamber also added the Member of the Week program, offering three great ways to advertise your business and “own the Chamber’s media” for one week. This extremely affordable means of promotion was a sell out every week because of the huge value and reward it offers our members.

The Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce truly fulfilled its core mission of Promoting Business & Community this fiscal year. We have an open door and an open mind. We encourage you to give input, get involved and help sustain your strong local Chamber, which is a vital advocate here in this thriving community. Thank you for your continued support & membership!

The 8th Annual Farmville Area Chamber-Centra Southside Golf Tournament was held at The Manor Golf Course on May 15, 2014. Due to the weather, the tournament was pushed to an earlier start time. The day was filled with fun and great networking opportunities with 26 teams, some of whom finished all 18 holes in spite of the downpour. We congratulate the winning team Luck Stone: Allen Beasley, Harry Bryant, David Perkins, and Tim Swain. This annual event continues to be the Chamber’s main fundraiser. Also, due to the weather, the Chamber had to post-pone the 2nd Annual Closest to the Pin Ball Drop. This was held on July 1st at the Manor Golf Club. Preceded by a Mini-Tourney, the Ball Drop was incorporated into a Chamber-After-Hours. Congratulations to Tim Swain, winner of the 2nd Annual Closest to the Pin Ball Drop!
