SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The V.L.F. EM surveys in Farakel Company's Paint and Kaby
Lake claim blocks has resulted in the selection of 38 conductive
areas considered as valid targets for possible gold-bearing mine
ralization. These targets were selected, based on the criteria that
conductors that cross or intersect regional trends of strike, faulting
or the contact between the granodiorite and the volcanics are the
most likely to be of significance.
It is the contention that most, if not all, the east-west
or east-northeast trending linear anomalies are caused by regional
structures and that these can be downgraded or disregarded as
targets of gold mineralization.
The erratic magnetic intensity patterns resulting from the
contouring the magnetometer survey data are considered to be incon
clusive with respect to indicating target areas for possible gold
mineralization or use as adjuncts to interpret or rate the V.L.F.
anomalies.
Follow-up detailed V.L.F. coverage of the selected zones
of interest with lines at approximately 35 to 50 metre spacings and
readings at 12.5 m intervals is recommended to better define the
individual conductors by fixing their locations by their juxta
position to the maximum field strengths obtained. Diamond drill
investigations would be greatly facilitated by this work for posi
tioning the drill more accurately with respect to the conductors.
Diamond drilling of targets of considered merit is recommended.

LOCATION AND ACCESS
The Farakel Company ground comprises two large claim
blocks, one in Elmhirst and Walters Townships and one in Rickaby
Township and the adjoining Kaby Lake Area, in the Jellicoe region of
Ontario.
Most of the claims can be reached by logging roads from
Highway No. 11 which runs in a general east-west direction through
Jellicoe which lies to the south. A provincial highway, No. 801,
traverses the west end of the Paint Lake grid and a major logging
road traverses the southern part of the Kaby Lake grid. These two
roads are the only local ones kept open throughout the winter season.
Other disused logging roads throughout the claim blocks can be
driven by truck in the summer months or snowmobile in winter.
Paint Lake in Walters Township provides good access to the
claims in that area by boat in summer and snomobile in winter.

INTRODUCTION
The ground geophysical surveys covering approximately two-
thirds of the claims held by Farakel Company in the Jellicoe Area of
Ontario were done by Hill, Goettler, de Laporte Limited whose address
is Suite 904, 80 Richmond Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 2C7.
The field work completed was done in two separate periods,
one with winter and the other with summer conditions being from
March 4 to April 10 and June 3 to August 14, 1982 respectively.
V.L.F. electromagnetic and proton magnetometer surveys
were run over almost all of the Paint Lake grid and much of the Kaby
Lake grid and the total line-kilometers surveyed were 510.9 V.L.F.
and 363.1 magnetometer respectively.

GENERAL GEOLOGY
The general areas containing the claim blocks under dis
cussion here have been mapped at a scale of one inch equals a half
mile by the Ontario Geological Survey, specifically maps No. 2373
and 2356. A broader perspective of the general geology can be
obtained from the Tashota-Geraldton Sheet of the geological compila
tion series, Map No. 2102.
The main geologic feature of considered interest pertinent
to the claims is the presence of mapped granodiorite intrusions in
intermediate to felsic metavolcanics. Widespread gold mineraliza
tions are known in the area and both the intrusive and their peri
pheral areas are considered to present prime exploration targets as
per the Balmoral Mine model, in the Bourlamaque Batholith in the Val
d'Or area of Quebec where gold mineralization of economic signifi
cance was discovered based on V.L.F. electromagnetic investigations.

GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS
Grid control on each survey grid, ie, the Paint Lake grid
and the Kaby Lake grid, was established by cutting a transit con
trolled east-west baseline from which a north-south line designated
as line 0+00 was cut and chained. Further baselines were turned off
and cut from lines 0+00 with their locations established by aerial
photographs and by cut and chained north-south tie lines.
The baselines were cut and picketed along a direct line of
sight and chained horizontally to 40-metre intervals. North-south
cut lines were chained and picketed at 25-metre intervals.
The Paint Lake grid has three baselines, A, B and C
aggregating 21.1 km. Tie lines were 0+00, 24+00 west and 48+00 west
aggregating 9.2 km.
The Kaby Lake grid has three cut baselines, U, V and W for
a total of 23.3 km as well as two additional baselines X and Y which
were chained and flagged east-west for a total of 6.4 km. Tie lines
were 0+00, 40+00 west and 36+00 west for a total of 9.7 km.
The geophysical instrument surveys were run north-south on
a compass lines of 120 metre separation turned off 90 0 from th base
lines with reading stations marked by flagging at 25 metre intervals.
Chaining was by hip chainers and the location of the lines was
controlled by their location at the baselines.

V.L.F. ELECTROMAGNETICS
The V.L.F. surveys were carried out with Crone Radem
V.L.F. instruments employing Seattle Washington as the primary
transmitter station. (24.8 KHZ). This station was selected as
being on an azimuth roughly parallel to the regional strike of the
volcanic rocks in the area and also for having the least disruptive
schedule of shutdowns. An alternate transmitter sources, at Cutler
Maine was occasionally used with the filed strength being tied in to
known stations read on Seattle.
The V.L.F. surveying was carried out in closed loops to
enable each loop to be corrected for diurnal variations of field
strengths. Individual lines were not tied together as field strengths
were presented in profile rather than contoured form. The dip angles
were recorded and also presented in profile form.
Stations were read at 25-metre intervals on lines of 120-
metre separation with total distances surveyed of 241.7 km and 269.2
km on the Paint and Kaby Lake grids respectively.
The Paint Lake grid has been more or less completely
covered excepting several small swampy areas and part of the south-
east corner of the grid where summer access was poor.
Approximately 67% of the Kaby Lake grid has been covered
with essentially the northeast and northwest corners to be completed.
The winter surveying was concentrated in the lake areas to
take advantage of the ice conditions prevailings.
l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l
Page 8.
MAGNETOMETER SURVEY
The magnetometer used was a Geometrics G816 proton precession
instrument with readings taken at the same stations as in the
V.L.F. survey.
Principal base stations for the Paint and Kaby Lake grids
were established at 0+00 on baseline B and at 0+00 on baseline V
(12+00 south) respectively. Subsidiary base stations were set up
along each baseline where survey lines extended both north and south
by reading a few selected stations at approximate 4-line intervals,
then returning to the base station for diurnal correction. This
procedure was repeated for successive loops to the limit of the
baseline. These subsidiary base stations were used to check diurnal
variations during the surveys.
Individual lines were tied in to base stations. Lines
were run as closed loops to provide diurnal variation control.
After corrections for diurnal variation and base station tie-in, a
background value (59,000 gammas for Paint Lake and 60,000 gammas for
Kaby Lake) was subtracted from the total field readings. The residual
values were then plotted and contoured.

Page 9.
INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS
All dip angle crossovers except those showing weak field
strength and dip angle changes are considered to be probably caused
by bedrock features. Those areas showing weak responses are considered
probably caused by conductive overburden.
The varying intensity of the conductor responses may be
due in part to the sulphide content (the instrument responding to at
least 3!?) and also due to the depth of overburden.
The survey has resulted in a multitude of anomalous
V.L.F. responses of varying intensity and interpreted with. Many of
the anomalies are oriented compatible with the regional trends of
the greenstones in a general east-northeast direction and being long
and linear are not considered to be significant as indicators to
possible gold-bearing mineralization. However, conductors displaying
cross-cutting or converging trends, many of which are relatively
short and flexed and more discreet are considered to be of possible
significance for gold-bearing mineralizations by reflecting inter
secting structures such as shear and fault zones. Such anomalies,
especially when located close to the map inferred contact between
the granodiorite and the valcanics are especially considered to be
of interest.
In total, 38 anomalous areas have been selected for
follow-up ground investigation, 18 in the Paint Lake Area (P1-P18)
and 20 in the Kaby Lake Area (K1-K20).
The overall magnetic intensity relief encountered in the
magnetometer surveying completed is in the range of 3000 gammas.

l l l l l l l l l l
l l l lll l l
Page 10.
However, there is apparently insufficient magnetic contrast
either between or within the two main intrusive and metavolcanic
rock groups to provide much clear distinction and generally confused
patterns of small localized features are indicated. It is generally
possible, however, to locate the general granodiorite-volcanic
contact zone on each pluton although the area immediately south of
Kaby Lake is the only section where the contact is clearly delineated.
There appears to be no direct correlation or coincidence
between anomalous magnetics and the V.L.F. conductive zones selected,
such that there is no corroborative support for rating areas of
interesting conductivity.
All of which is respectfully submitted,

Dear Madam:
Enclosed are two copies of a Notice of Intent with statements listing a reduced rate of assessment work credits to be allowed for a technical survey. Please forward one copy to the recorded holder of the claims and retain the other. In approximately fifteen days from the above date, a final letter of approval of these credits will be sent to you. On receipt of the approval letter, you may then change the work entries on the claim record sheets.
For further information, if required, please contact Mr. F.W. Matthews at 416/965-1380.

Notice of Intent
for Technical ReportsOntario
1983 09 14
2.5415
An examination of your survey report indicates that the requirements of The Ontario Mining Act have not been fully met to warrant maximum assessment work credits. This notice is merely a warning that you will not be allowed the number of assessment work days credits that you expected and also that in approximately 15 days from the above date, the mining recorder will be authorized to change the entries on his record sheets to agree with the enclosed statement. Please note that until such time as the recorder actually changes the entry on the record sheet, the status of the claim remains unchanged.
If you are of the opinion that these changes by the mining recorder will jeopardize your claims, you may during the next fifteen days apply to the Mining and Lands Commissioner for an extension of time. Abstracts should be sent with your application.
If the reduced rate of credits does not jeopardize the status of the claims then you need not seek relief from the Mining and Lands Commissioner and this Notice of Intent may be disregarded.
If your survey was submitted and assessed under the "Special Provision-Performance and Coverage" method and you are of the opinion that a re-appraisal under the "Man-days" method would result in the approval of a greater number of days credit per claim, you may, within the said fifteen day period, submit assessment work breakdowns listing the employees names, addresses and the dates and hours they worked. The new work breakdowns should be submitted direct to the Lands Management Branch, Toronto. The report will be re-assessed and a new statement of credits based on actual days worked will be issued.
