Q: What are Pio Fair and the Spring Activities Fair?

A: Pio Fair is the official kick-off to the academic year and it is held on the Friday at the end of the first week of classes. In addition to all of L&Cʼs student clubs and organizations (and some departments) having information tables, there is also a fantastic dinner and live entertainment. Pio Fair also features some fun activities and its a great chance to get the know your fellow students as well as L&C faculty and staff.

The Spring Activities Fair takes place on the first Monday after classes start for the Spring Semester. The Spring Activities Fair is another opportunity for you to check-out L&Cʼs student clubs and organizations and get involved!

These are the events to go to if you want to get involved!

Q: How are student clubs and organizations funded?

A: Most student clubs and organizations are funded through the Student Activities Fee, which is administered by ASLC. Some clubs and organizations are funded by academic or administrative departments or in collaboration with students, academic and administrative areas. Student clubs and organizations are also ale to apply to the ASLC Finance Committee for additional funding for a specific activity, event or program. In addition to these funding sources, clubs and organizations are always welcome to have their own fund-raising projects.

Q: Is the Office of Student Activities the same thing as the Campus Activities Board?

A: No. The Office of Student Activities is an administrative office reporting to the Dean of Students. The Campus Activities Board is a part of the Associated Students of Lewis & Clark College (our student government). The relationship between the two is that the Office of Student Activities advises the Campus Activities Board (along with student government).

Q: How do I get involved in student activities at Lewis & Clark?

A: There are countless ways to get involved in any of the different student activities at Lewis & Clark! Youʼre always welcome to attend any event or program, take part in the planning process, or actually lead a program from start to finish. The important thing is to get involved!

Q: How do I find out whatʼs happening on-campus?

A: The best way to find out about meetings, programs and events is the calendar on the L&C website (www.lclark.edu). Student activities are also promoted through Opportunities & Announcements from the Dean of Students Office, The Pioneer Log, KLC, flyers, posters, table tents, banners, your RA, word of mouth and special e-mail announcements and mailings.

Q: What if I have an idea for a program? How do I make that program a reality?

A: Student Activities is here to help you make your program a reality! Just stop by the office and we can discuss your idea and develop a time line for scheduling, event logistics and publicity. Please do not directly negotiate any performance details or sign a contract. The Director of Student Activities is the only person authorized to negotiate, request and sign a contract on behalf of the College for a student program.
