Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) San Diego Chapter celebrates Filipino American History Month in 2012.TRANSCRIPT
October has been declared Filipino American History Month by the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS). The significance of the month of October was because historical evidence found that Filipinos accompanied Spanish explorers and landed in what is now California, in October 1587. Today colleges, universities, and communities celebrate and commemorate this month with various activities and events.

Presentation by Professor Felix Tuyay and Dr. Judy Patacsil which will highlight the Filipino American Experience and History of Filipino Americans in the United States for 425 years, as well as the national and state legislative designation of October being Filipino American History Month.
