October has been declared Filipino American History Month by the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS). The significance of the month of October was because historical evidence found that Filipinos accompanied Spanish explorers and landed in what is now California, in October 1587. Today colleges, universities, and communities celebrate and commemorate this month with various activities and events. October 12, 2012 Becoming Mexipino @ 6:30pm-Miramar College Rm I- 101 Dr. Rudy Guevarra is the Past Vice President of the San Diego Chapter of the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS). Rudy has written a new book titled “Becoming Mexipino”. NO Parking Permit Required for this event. Film Series Shown-FS 100 Class at SD Miramar College @ 8PM Rm H-104 – Parking Permit Required to Attend this Film Series.
