Thanksgiving Day• This is Thanksgiving Day. The piligrims celebrated it in the fall of

1621 the first. The pilgrims sailed to America from Plymouth, England in 1620. they were among the first European settlers in America. The name of the ship was the “Mayflower”. They landed at Plymouth Rock . They were people living in America before the pilgrims arrived. The Indians came to America about 25, 000 years ago. They hunted, fished and farmed to survive. There were many tribes and they had their own customs.

• The pilgrims’ first winter was difficult. Some pilgrims died without fresh food. They had arrived too late to grow many crops. They had a great harvest in the fall of 1621 and invited the Indians to the feast. Indians brought food. Americans still celebrate Thanksgiving Day on the 4th Thursday in November. Turkey is still the main dish and pumpkin pie is the most popular dessert.
