UABOUT THE LIFE OF USHRI SIDDHARTH RAI JAIN

(1857 – 1907)

Our fore fathers are from the small town of Chota Chakrata, Distt.

Dehradun, Uttranchal. Our grand father Shri Siddharth Rai Jain was born in

1857 (see FAMILY TREE). He was the Zamindar owner of the entire Chota

Chakrata. In earlier years, children born to Siddharth Rai used to die soon

after the birth. Later a Sanyasi (Holy person) advised him to keep the

name of his new borns after some God. That is how his eldest child got the

name of Hari Narain and second child Hari Krishan.

Our grand mother died soon after the birth of third son Shri Balwant

Rai Jain in 1899. As learnt, he went to Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1902 to

try his luck in silver satta bazar. He lost very heavily and as a result he had

to sell his entire property at Chota Chakrata to pay off the debts. He left

Chota Chakrata and shifted to Deoband Distt. Saharanpur (U.P.), where his

uncle Shri Murli Dhar Jain used to reside. In Deoband Shri Siddharth Rai

owned a very large haveli in mohalla Kanungoyan along with certain other

properties & gardens. The agricultural land was in the village “Telhari

Bujurg” next to the railway station towards Saharanpur. The agricultural

land was with tillers and was being managed from Deoband. The Mumbai

episode gave him a great shock and he died in 1907 when his eldest child

Hari Narain was only of 13 years of age. He had three children as under:-

(A) ABOUT THE LIFE OF

SHRI HARI NARAIN DAS JAIN

(1894 -1980)

Shri Hari Narain Das Jain was born in 1894. He was only of 13 years

of age when his father died in 1907. There being no other elderly member

in the family, the entire responsibility of looking after the Estate and his

two younger brothers fell on his young shoulders. He had to give up his

studies and concentrate on the education of his two younger brothers and

also manage the estate.

Both his younger brothers were educated up to the level of diploma

in civil engineering and were married thereafter. He himself was married in

1909 when he was only 15 years old to Bugli Devi Jain who was elder to

him. She assisted him in bringing up the two younger brothers. His first

child was born when he was just 17 years old. The Zamindari which was a

seasonal affair, was being looked after with the assistance of Patwari Ji

(Shri Mool Raj). After he got over from the responsibility of his two

younger brothers, he started spending most of his time in company of

other zamindars of Deoband. Wife of Late Shri Murlidhar Ji (grand mother

in relation) who was living in the same compound, one day scolded him for

whiling away his time in company of other zamindars & doing nothing.

These remarks hurt him and he took up an appointment of a cashier in the

Imperial Bank of India at Simla in 1927. In winters, the family used to shift

to Deoband. In 1940, he got himself transferred to Meerut on health

grounds and retired from the Bank in 1958. He continued to live with his

eldest son Shri Om Prakash Jain in Meerut till his death on 26P

1980. They had six children.

Late. Shakuntala Jain Om Prakash Prakashwati Anand Prakash Sarla Jain Shashi Prakash

(A-1 ) DAUGHTER :- LATE SHAKUNTALA DEVI JAIN

She was born in 1911 at Deoband. She was married in 1926 to Late

Shri Padam Prasad Jain, resident of Ambala City. She died in 1931 after

she gave birth to son Hukum Chand Jain. Shri Padam Prasad died a few

years back at Bhilai.

(A-1-A) Son :- Hukum Chand Jain

Hukum Chand Jain was born on 27P

thP October 1930 and was married to

Veena Jain of Rohtak on 21P

stP November 1958. They have two children.

Shakun is married to Samir Gupta, settled in the U.S.A. They have

two children

Both Children are studying in the U.S.A.

(A-1-A-2) Son: Raju Jain

Raju is married to Seema, daughter of Shri Narain Dass Khandelwal

of Akola (Maharastra). Raju has his own workshop/factory mostly

doing casting work in Nagpur.

They have two children.

(A-1-A-2-B) Daughter: Urjita

Both are studying in Nagpur.

(A-2) SON :- OM PRAKASH JAIN

Shri Om Prakash Jain was born in 1914 in Deoband (Distt.

Saharanpur U.P). After primary education in Deoband, he completed his

matriculation from SIMLA in 1932. He joined the Central Textile Institute at

Kanpur and took diploma in printing and designing in 1935. He was

married to Kiran Lata Jain d/o Shri Beni Prasad of Chilkana Distt

Saharanpur. He started his business in Meerut and undertook a wide

variety of businesses. Finally he retired from business in 1980. His wife

died in 1970, and since then he is living with elder son Mahesh in Prem

Puri, Meerut City. Even now at the age of 93 he is actively engaged in

social work. He is the President of Vardman Academy which he has raised

from scratch to the level of higher secondary. He is now managing the

affairs of Jain boarding house in Meerut. He has also constructed a Jain

temple in the same complex.

He has four Children.

(A-2-A) Son: Mahesh Chand Jain

Mahesh Chand Jain was born in 1938. He has done his A.M.E. from

Calcutta. He married Manju Jain d/o (Late) Hari Chand Jain of Daryaganj

Delhi. Mahesh Chand has been managing his workshop for the

manufacture of transformers parts and is settled at 235 new Prem Puri

Merrut City with his father. They have three children.

(A-2-A-1) Son: Vipul Kumar Jain

Vipul has done his M.S. in two subjects from U.S.A. and he is

currently managing director of SIEMENS MEDICAL SOLUTIONS USA,

a multinational company with head quarters in Germany. Vipul is a

divorcee. He has two children.

(A-2-A-1-A) Son : Rishi age 11 years

(A-2-A-1-B) Daughter : Malika age 6 years,

both studying in USA.

(A-2-A-2) Daughter: Deepti Mittal

Deepti did her graduation & MBA from Meerut. She is married

to Dr. Suneet Mittal. Suneet, is a renowned heart surgeon (M.D. D.M)

and is serving as director in St. Lukes Hospital, New York, USA. They

live in New York.

They have 2 Children.

(A-2-A-2-A) Daughter : Sonia Mittal, 11 years.

(A-2-A-2-B) Daughter : Priya Mittal, 7 years.

(A-2-A-3) Son: Sachin Jain

Sachin is married to Bhumika d/o Girdhari Lal of Meerut.

Sachin did his MBA from IPM Institute Meerut and is currently

engaged with a multinational Swiss company (Tissot), a company of

the Swatch Group of Switzerland. Bhumika qualified as a physio-

therapist and she is working in Kailash hospital at Noida. They have

one daughter.

(A-2-A-3-A) Daughter : Suhani born on 9P

(A-2-B) Son :- Air Cmde Naresh Chand Jain, VSM (Retd.)

Naresh Chand was born in 1939 and married Kumkum Jain D/o Shri

Ram Kishore of Mirchi Tola, Barielly, in 1968. After obtaining a degree in

B.E. (Mechanical) from Aligarh University in 1961, he joined Indian Air

Force in 1962 & retired as Air Commodore in 1994. Naresh is leading a

retired life in Gurgaon. They have two children,

(A-2-B-1) Son: Gaurav Jain

Gaurav is married to Swati d/o Shri Vijay Kumar Gupta of

Bareilly. Gaurav, after completing B.E and MBA from IIM, is currently

working in a multinational company and posted in Seoul, South

Korea.

They have 2 children.

(A-2-B-2) Son: Akash Jain

Akash is married to Ranjita D/o Shri Poonam Chand Jain

resident of Mulund, Mumbai. Both Akash & Ranjita have done M.S.

in computer science from USA and worked in multinational

companies in USA. Currently Akash is in India to pursue Exec MBA at

I.I.M. (A).

(A-2-C) Daughter: Renu Jain

Renu was born in the year 1944, she got married to Shri Prakash

Chand Jain, IAS, resident of Panipat (Haryana). After his retirement as

secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Defence, they are now

settled in Noida (UP). They have three children.

(A-2-C-1) Daughter: Charu Jain

Charu is married to Sushant Jain of Delhi. Charu is working

with United Airlines in USA and Sushant is working as an engineer

with a multinational company in USA.

(A-2-C-2) Son: Rahul Jain

Rahul is married to Hemani d/o Shri Girish Goel of Pilibhit

(U.P). Rahul is currently working with Air India posted in China.

They have two Children.

(A-2-C-2-A) Son: Ribhav, age 8 years.

(A-2-C-2-B) Daughter: Maniya, age 4 years.

(A-2-C-3) Son: Rohit Jain

Rohit is married to Neena d/o Shri H.S. Chorasia resident of

Delhi. Both Rohit & Neena are officers in Reserve Bank of India and

are currently posted in Mumbai. They have one child

(A-2-C-3-A) Son: Anirudh Jain age 6 Yrs.

(A-2-D) Son: Rakesh Chand Jain

Rakesh Chand was born in the year 1948. He is married to Raj Jain

D/o Shri Ajit Prasad Jain of Delhi. Rakesh graduated with a degree in

Chemical Engineering from Roorkee University. He has his own business,

and is lives in Prem Puri Meerut City. They have two children.

(A-2-D-1) Daughter: Shivani

Shivani did her MBA from Somaya College Mumbai. Shivani is

married to Vikram Singh S/o B.K. Singh of Bhubaneshwar. Vikram

has also done an MBA from Somaya college Mumbai. Both Shivani &

Vikram are working in multinational companies at Mumbai.

(A-2-D-2) Son: Shashank Jain

Shashank Jain did his MBA from Meerut and married Tina D/o Shri

Virendra Kumar Jain of Muradabad. Shashank is doing his own

business and has settled in Prem Puri Meerut City with his parents.

They have one child.

(A-2-D-2-A) Daughter: Tirushi age 2 years.

(A-3) DAUGHTER :- PRAKASH WATI JAIN

Prakash Wati was born in 1918 in Deoband (Distt. Saharanpur). She

had her primary education in Deoband. Later she studied at Arya Samaj

school for girls at Simla up to class X. She married Shri Lakshmi Chand

Jain, resident of erstwhile Tehri (Garhwal) in 1934. His firm was official

caterers to his Highness Raja of Tehri Garwal and he also had a jewellery

shop. He has now handed the jewellery shop to his youngest son, Vinay

Kumar, after retirement. They are new permanently settled is New Tehri,

the new township when Tehri was submerged after the construction of

Tehri dam. They have six children.

Suresh Chand, an advocate by profession, is married to Urmilla of

Meerut. He is a practicing lawyer in New Tehri Courts and permanently

settled in township of Chamba (Distt. Garwal). They have three daughters

& one Son.

(A-3-A-1) Daughter: Geetali Patial

Geetali Patial is head of department of Sociology – Garhwal

University. She is married to Narendra Patial who is a company

secretary. They are permanently settled in Burari, New Tehri. They

have two children.

(A-3-A-1-A) Son - Varun Pratap, 14 years old.

(A-3-A-1-B) Daughter – Pinki, 11 years old.

(A-3-A-2) Daughter: Manisha Mittal

Manisha is married to Anil Mittal. He holds a Senior Position

with Indian AIR LINES at Delhi. They have two children.

(A-3-A-2-A) Son: Prateek

(A-3-A-2-B) Daughter: Priyanka.

Shivani is married to Mahipal Sajwani. Shivani runs a Curio Shop at

Rishikesh and Mahipal Sajwani is a lecturer in Inter College. They

have one Child.

(A-3-A-4) Son : Parag Jain

Parag, an advocate by profession, is married to Meghna Jain

D/o Ashok Kumar Jain of Meerut. Parag is a practicing lawyer in New

Tehri courts. Meghna is looking after a gas agency. They have 2

children.

(A-3-A-4-A) Son: Astiav Age 8

(A-3-A-4-B) Daughter: Ananya Age 6 years.

(A-3-B) Son :- Sudhir Kumar Jain

Sudhir is married to Sudesh Jain d/o Shri Praduman Kumar Jain of Ambala.

Sudhir Jain has a degree in mechanical engineering from London. He was

running his own workshop in Delhi. Since his retirement, they now live in

Rohini, New Delhi. They have three children.

Ritu is married to Amitabh Jain I.A.S., S/o Shri Shikhar Chand

Jain of Bhilai. Amitabh is currently posted in Delhi. They have two

children.

(A-3-B-2) Son: Ravi Jain

Ravi is married to Ekta Jain d/o Prof. P.K. Jain of Ajmer. Ravi

is a senior railway officer, currently posted in railway workshop at

Jagadhri (Haryana). Ekta is direct recruit in IRS, currently posted as

asst. commissioner of Income tax at Jagadhri. They have two

children.

Ruchi is married to Sanjay Jain of Delhi. Ruchi studied law and

practiced in Delhi. Sanjay Jain is an IPS officer and is currently

posted in Arunachal Pradesh.

(A-3-C) Daughter: Sudha Jain

Sudha finished her education in Tehri. She was married to (late)

Surendra Kumar Jain of Saharanpur. Surendra Kumar Jain retired as

director of forensic unit of police department in Hydrabad. After retirement

they had settled in New Delhi. He expired in 1995. They had two children.

(A-3-C-1) Daughter: Anju Gupta

Anju is married to Suneel Gupta. He is working with a

multinational company at Hyderabad. They have one child.

(A-3-C-2) Son: Rahul Jain

Rahul Jain joined the railway department as IRSE. He is

married to Shobha d/o Shri S.K. Sangal of Noida. He is currently

posted as a deputy divisional railway manager in Jaipur. They have

one daughter.

(A-3-D) Son :- Arun Kumar Jain

After schooling in Nainital, Arun graduated from Jodhpur

Engineering college. He is married to Alka d/o Late Shri Budh Sen Jain of

Prempuri Meerut. He is currently working in USA. They had one son, but

he unfortunately died of Leukemia in 1988.

(A-3-E) Son:- Vipin Kumar Jain

Vipin Kumar is married to Suman Jain d/o Late Shri Mahendra

Kumar Jain of Delhi. Vipin is a deputy manager with State Bank of India ,

currently posted in Dehradun. They have one child.

(A-3-E-1) Son:- Puneet Jain

Puneet is married to Ruchi D/o Shri ML Garg of Muradabad.

Ruchi is currently working as a lecturer in Graphic Era Institute of

Technology Dehradun. Puneet is working with Bharti Airtel Ltd.,

currently posted in Dehradun. They have one child.

(A-3-E-1-A) Son :- Avi born in 2003.

(A-3-F) Son:- Vinay Kumar Jain

Vinay married Abha D/o Shri Mohan Lal Jain of Ambala. Vinay has

his own Jewellry shop in New Tehri. They have two children.

(A-3-F-1) Daughter:- Ila

Ila married Ankur of Meerut. Ankur is working in merchant

navy and has made Meerut as his base.

(A-3-F-2) Son:- Madhur

Madhur has qualified as a chartered accountant and is

working in Mumbai.

(A-4) SON :- ANAND PRAKASH JAIN

Anand Prakash was born on 26P

thP June 1921 in Deoband. After his

matriculation from Simla in 1937, he did his intermediate from Meerut

College in 1939. He earned a diploma in civil engineering with merit from

Thomason College of engineering at Roorkee in 1941. He joined CPWD in

the January 1942 and worked on the camp for prisoners of war in Village

Deoli (Rajasthan). Thereafter he worked at Nasirabad and lived in a village

(Distt Beawar) for the repairs of the irrigation tanks that had breached due

to floods.

He married Kiran Lata Jain in 1943 and was transferred to New Delhi

in 1945. By the year 1948 he qualified as a graduate from the Institution

of Engineers and after promotion as Assistant Engineer in 1949 got posted

to refugee camp at Kurukshetra,.. From 1954 to 1957 he worked on

deputation with Himachal Govt. at Chamba. In 1957 he was posted on the

construction of the Dhar Udhampur Road, a second line of defense for

(J&K). In 1959 while he was posted at Udhamur, he was promoted to an

executive engineer and was posted on Jawahar tunnel with headquarters

at Verinag. He came back to Delhi in the early 1960 and was posted at

President Estate division from 1962 to May 1965.

In May 1965 he was sent on deputation to the Ministry of External

Affair to Kathmandu (Nepal). In 1968 he returned to Delhi. In year 1973

he was transferred to Srinagar (J&K). He returned back to Delhi in 1976

and got promotion as superintending engineer from July 1977 and finally

retired in 1979. Kiran Lata was born in 1925 in Titron (U.P.) and is

renowned for her cooking. Her book, “Dadi’s Cookbook” has been

distributed internationally. They have four children.

(A-4-A) Son:- Arvind Kumar Jain

Arvind was born on 1P

stP March 1945. After his graduation from I.I.T.

Mumbai in 1966, he received a diploma in management from Indian

Institute of Science, Bangalore. He continued his studies in U.S.A., first at

Carnegie-Mellon University and then at the University of Michigan,

culminating in a doctorate in international finance. He joined McGill

University in Montreal in Canada in 1979 and later shifted to Concordia

University, where he is currently an associate professor. He married Aida

(from Maxico) in 1974 with whom he has a daughter. After their divorce,

he was briefly married to Annamma. He is presently living in Montreal. He

has one daughter.

(A-4-A-1) Daughter:- Gitanjali

Gitanjali was born on 13P

thP March 1977. After her studies in

Montreal, Mexico, Sackville, France and India, she worked in Hawaii

(USA). She married Jonathan in 2005. She splits her time between

Montreal and Hawaii.

(A-4-B) Son :- Maj Gen Anil Kumar Jain, VSM (Retd.)

Maj Gen Anil Kumar Jain (Retd.) was born on 23P

rdP September 1946 in

Dehradun. After a brief stint at Banaras Hindu University, he joined

National Defence Academy in January 1963 and was commissioned into

the Corps of Engineers in December 1966. He switched over to DRDO in

1979. He has served in Balasore for the launch of “AGNI” missile, and was

director of two organisations till his retirement in October 2005. He is

married to Vandana D/o Late Shri U C Rastogi of Midlands Kanpur, on 4P

February 1973. They have two children.

(A-4-B-1) Daughter:- Malavika

Malavika was born on 10P

thP July 1976 in Kanpur. She did her

Economics (Hons) from Stephans College, Delhi, M.B.A. from MICA

Ahmedabad in 1998 and her second Ex-MBA in 2004 from INSEAD

France. She is working with McKinsey & Co in UK. She has traveled

extensively around the world during her assignments. She married

Siddharth Bambawale on 25P

thP December 2001. Siddharth is a CA

and MBA from London Business School. He works for British

Petroleum in UK. They have one child,

(A-4-B-1-A) daughter: Diya Jyoti born on 18P

thP October 2006.

(A-4-B-2) Daughter:- Smita Jain

Smita was born on 31P

stP August 1977 in Pune. She did her

B.Com (Hons) from Sri Ram college of Commerce Delhi in 1996,

thereafter she completed her CA(inter) in 2000 and MBA from

Melbourne Business School Australia in 2004. She is currently

working with a multinational bank in Mumbai. She is a good painter

and has traveled worldwide.

(A-4-C) Son:- Atul Kumar Jain

Atul Kumar was born on 1st May 1948. He did his B.E. civil in 1970

from IIT Kanpur. He was married to Renu d/o of Shri Kishore of Agra on

thP December 1975. After initial service, he became a builder and did his

own construction work till 2004. He has now started cultivation of

medicinal herbs at Dehradun and also involved in the work of real estate.

They have two children.

(A-4-C-1) Daughter:- Shikha Garg

Shikha was born on 9P

thP November 1976. She did her

graduation from Lady Irwin College Delhi. She was married in 2002

to Amit Garg who has completed his engineering from Pilani and an

MBA from I.I.M (A). Amit is a practicing consultant in Bangalore

where they are permanently settled. Shikha is a freelance graphic

designer.

(A-4-C-2) Son:- Shri Rajat Jain

Rajat was born on 26P

thP August 1979. He did his graduation

from Delhi. He has done his M.B.A. from Melbourne Business School

Australia. He is currently working in Delhi.

(A-4-D) Daughter:- Nirupa Jain

Nirupa was born on 1P

stP May 1955. She has done her graduation from

college of Fine Arts at Delhi. She was married to Shri Kapil Jain S/o Late

Shri J.P. Jain in 1980. Kapil Jain is vice president of the multinational firm

HP dealing in computers worldwide. They are presently based in

Bangalore. They have two children.

(A-4-D-1) Daughter:- Ketaki Jain

Ketaki was born on 10P

thP July 1981. After doing her primary

education in Bangalore, She did graduation from USA. She then

worked for the World Bank in Washington. Presently she is doing

M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in USA.

(A-4-D-2) Son:- Mr. Nikhil Jain

Nikhil was born on 10P

thP July 1985. After his graduation from

NIT Karnataka in Information Technology, he is now working in

Bangalore with VERSATA, TRILOGY.

(A-5) DAUGHTER :- SARLA DEVI JAIN

Sarla Devi was born in 1925 in Deoband. She was educated in DAV

School for girls in Simla. She was married in 1946 to Late Shri Mahavir

Prashad Jain of Meerut who had graduated in glass technology from

Banaras Hindu University. Initially he worked with private firms engaged in

manufacture of glass articles & bangles at Ferozabad. He joined the Govt.

of India as a glass technologist from where he retired and has finally

settled in his own house in Prem Puri Meerut City. He expired in Jan 2008

They had three daughters and one son.

(A-5-A) Daughter:- Manju Gupta

Manju was married to Late Shri Ramesh Chand Gupta, an Architect.

She is now settled in her own house in Vivek Vihar, New Delhi. She has

two children.

(A-5-A-1) Daughter:- Nimisha Bansal

Nimisha is married to Niraj Bansal. Niraj is working with

N.I.I.T. and settled in Delhi. They have one son named Siddharth

(Tarun). Nimisha has now joined her brother Samit in his

consultancy work in Interior Decorations.

(A-5-A-2) Son:- Samit Gupta

Samit Gupta is an Architect by profession. He is now running

his own consultancy firm in Interior Decorations. He is settled in

Delhi in Vivek Vihar with his mother.

(A-5-B) Daughter:- Neera Jain

Neera is married to Ashok Kumar Jain. After his retirement from Hindustan

Zinc Ltd., they have settled in Udaipur (Rajasthan).

They have two children.

(A-5-B-1) Son:- Abhinav Jain working in Pune.

(A-5-C) Daughter:- Parul Jain

Parul is married to P.K. Jain working with meteorological deptt. of

Govt. of India in senior position and currently posted in Delhi. They have

two children.

(A-5-C-1) Daughter:- Surbhi studying in MSc Final.

(A-5-C-2) Son:- Swati Jain.

(A-5-D) Son :- Sanjay Jain

Sanjay is married to Renuka Jain D/o Shri. Naresh Chand Jain of

Delhi. Sanjay is working as a financial consultant and resides with his

parents in Meerut. They have two children.

(A-5-D-1) Son:- Abhishek studying for B.B.A.

(A-5-D-2) Daughter:- Anubha studying in XP

(A-6) SON :- SHASHI PRAKASH JAIN

Shashi was born in 1931 at Balrampur. After primary education at

Simla, he joined his uncle Shri Balwant Rai Jain at Bhilai in his contract

business. After working for about 2 years at Bhilai, he returned back to

Meerut. He was married to Rajesh Jain D/o Shri Deep Chand Jain of

Udhampur (J&K) in 1958 and took up civil contracts. Later he also worked

in Tehri Garwhal. In 1966 he joined a Transport Company in Nepal and

after some times started his own business in Kathmandu. He is now

settled in Kathmandu with elder son Sanjay Jain. They have three children.

(B) ABOUT THE LIFE OF

SHRI HARI KRISHAN DAS JAIN

(1897-1980)

Shri Hari Krishan Das Jain was born on 31P

stP July 1897. He was

married to Gunmala Jain in 1916. She was the daughter of Lala Bishamber

Sahai Jain of Sardhana district Meerut. She died at a young age on 14P

thP

November 1938. Shri Hari Krishan Das Jain joined U.P. State P.W.D. after

obtaining a diploma in Civil Engineering from Roorkee in 1916. He resigned

from Govt. service in 1933 and settled in Meerut. He then started his own

business of hardware merchant and a brick kiln. He made his own house in

Prem Puri Meerut in 1935. He had a liking for Homeopathy. He took

training of Homeopathy from an eminent doctor in Meerut. Besides his

business, he started practicing Homeopathy in morning and evening time

from his house and had huge collection of books.

After the death of his wife in 1938, his younger brother Balwant Rai

Jain invited him to Mumbai for a change. He liked Mumbai and settled

there. He started civil engineering construction works and joined a reputed

firm, M/s Tejoo Kaya & Co. After break out of 2P

ndP World war in 1940, he

alongwith Shri Mangal Das Verma formed an oral partnership, and

contracts were taken in the name of M/s Mangal Das Verma. They made

huge profits in 1941-42. After the marriage of his two daughters, Shanti &

Kanti in 1942, he wanted to retire from the partnership but Shri Mangaldas

did not give him his half share but a small amount of Rs. 80,000/- only,

which he accepted and then started his own construction business in the

name of “Hari Krishan Das & Sons”. By the end of World War in 1946, he

made a huge fortune and purchased immoveable property in Mumbai.

After the war, he was seriously ill for about two years but came out of it.

From 1950 onwards, he started taking interest in social activities. He

established several charitable Homeopathy Dispensaries in Mumbai. He

suffered from Leukemia disease early in the 1980 and passed away on 4P

thP

December 1980. After his death, his vast treasure of Homeopathic books

were donated to various charitable Homeopathic Dispensaries. He had

Vijay Kumar Jain was born on 20P

thP September 1920 at Meerut and

was named Bhagwandas, which was later on changed to Vijay Kumar

during his admission in primary class of Devnagri High School at Meerut.

Due to illness of his mother who died on 14P

thP November 1938, he could

not concentrate on his studies beyond class IX. In 1939 he joined gold

smithy course in school of Arts and Crafts at Lucknow. But due to

differences with his class teacher he left the institution in 1941 and joined

his father in his construction business. His uncle Shri Balwant Rai Jain

appointed him as a supervisor in his military contract at ADEN. He

narrowly escaped death by a hair’s breath during an air attack on Aden by

the Italians.

He returned to Mumbai in 1942 and joined his father in his military

contract works. He married Muktamala Jain (born 22P

ndP December 1924)

D/o Jhabban Lal Jain of Chilkana on 26P

thP January 1943. His father

discontinued his construction works in 1950. There after Vijay got himself

registered as a civil contractor with various Govt. departments and started

the Works on his own and carried out many challenging works such as

R.C.C Jetteys, light houses in the western coast of Ratnagiri Distt. His two

younger brothers, Rajendra and Mahendra joined him in 1956. From 1962

to 1971 he constructed several R.C.C. bridges with well sinking

foundations and balanced cantilever slabs. In 1973, he gave up

construction work & shifted to Plastics. He started a company by the name

of “OM AGRO INDUSTRIAL PLASTICS Pvt. Ltd” with his son Ashok Jain,

manufacturing rigid PVC pipes, PVC water stops etc.

He retired from the business activities in 2003. He is now leading a

retired life. He had three children as under:-

education in Meerut City, he left for England and returned with a degree in

mechanical engineering. Initially he served the Firm “BOSCH” as a sales

representative. He was married to Usha d/o Late Shri Hukam Chand Jain

(Raja Din Dayal family) of Hyderabad. He left the firm in 1972 and joined

his brother Virendra who had formed a Pvt. Ltd firm for manufacture of

telephone components. In 1988 the firm was liquidated and factory at

Bangalore was being run in an individual capacity. In later years he

handed over the business to his son-in-law Ajay Verma. He is now leading

a retired life in Bangalore. They have one child.

Married to Ajay Verma, he looks after the business of father-in-law

and is settled in Bangalore with in laws. They have two children.

Virendra H. Jain was born on 9P

thP November 1928 at Balrampur. After

primary education in Meerut, left for USA and returned with a degree in

plastic techonology in 1948. After his return, he served with NELCO till

1951 and then joined Telephone Industries Ltd., at Bangalore (a Govt. of

India undertaking) where he served till year 1966. He was married to

Satvir in 1956. He left I.T.I in 1966 and started his own industry in Mumbai

for the manufacture of the spare parts required in telephone Industry. He

made the firm into a Pvt. Ltd. Company in 1972 and set up another factory

at Bangalore where his two brothers namely Shri S.H. Jain & Shri M.H. Jain

worked as directors. The firm was liquidated in 1988. Since then he is

leading a retired life in Mumbai.

They have two children.

Rajendra H. Jain was born in Meerut on 10P

thP December 1961 to Kusum of Agra. His mother died in 1938 when

he was only 4 years of age. He & his younger brother Mahendra stayed for

a year & half with Tauji (Late. Lala Hari Narindas Jain) at Simla. Thereafter

they shifted to Bhavnagar(Gujrat), & stayed with Chachaji (Late. Lala

Balwant Rai Jain) till 1942 when his father shifted to Mumbai. He

graduated (B.Sc Agriculture) in 1955 from Pune university and then did

dairy training in Aarey milk colony till 1956. He wanted to start milk diary

but that didn’t materialize. In 1956 his father took a contract, in the name

of M/s Vijay Kumar Jain & Co., of light houses in remote places like

Devgad Dist. Ratnagiri, infected by deadly reptiles & snakes named

‘PHURSA’. The work was taken in remote places as his father had suffered

heavy losses in Goa project in year 1950 and was heavily indebted.

He started real estate business in 1963 by taking a loan from the

market. In 1972 he produced a picture “MANZILEIN AUR BHI HAIN”, a full

length film starring Kabir Bedi, Prema Narayan and directed by the famous

director Mahesh Bhatt (his 1P

stP film). He suffered heavy loss & was in debt

of market loans. But he cleared all the loans in 1976 and started real

estate in name of M/s RAJBIR BUILDER in partnership with Shri Girdarilal

S. Asudani. Established a 80 rooms hotel at hill station Mahableshwar in

Maharastra. Sold the hotel in 1996 & again concentrated on real estate. He

is now leading a peaceful, comfortable and contended life. They have four

children.

from 1980 he started his own trading in parts of telephone industry. He

shifted to Pune and finally retired in 1998 and is leading a retired life in

Pune. They have three children.

Seperated, working with a BPO centre in Pune & residing with her

parents at Pune. She has one daughter.

(C ) ABOUT THE LIFE OF

SHRI BALWANT RAI JAIN

(1899 – 1996)

Balwant Rai was born in 1899. His mother died soon after his birth

and father also died in 1907 when he was only 8 yrs of age. He was

brought up by his elder brother Shri Hari Narain Dass Jain, who himself

was only 13 years old at that time. After primary education in Deoband, he

qualified as civil engineer from Thompson Engineering College at Roorkee.

Soon after passing out of college he was picked up by a renouned civil

engineering firm of India namely M/s Tejoo Kaya & Co. of Bombay. He

worked in various capacities in that firm. Later on he became a partner in

the same firm. He was responsible for constructing prestigious works such

as “Palace of Maharaja of Chota Udaipur”, dam for the lake of Maharaja of

Bhavnagar etc. there was a division of the Firm in 1935 into M/s Tejoo

Kaya & Co. and M/s Devji Dharsi & Sons. He joined M/s Devji Dharsi &

Sons as a partner and constructed Central Govt. Building in Bombay. He

was in charge of M/s Devji Dharsi & Sons military works in Eden.

In about 1942, he left this firm and started a construction firm in his

own name. He made Mumbai his base, while he was undertaking civil

contacts mostly in Bhilai. He built his own house on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai

road in Mumbai. He married Lajwanti Jain in 1919. Shri Balwant Rai Jain

while she was with her daughter in U.S.A. They had two children.

(C-1-A) Son :- Vikash Jain

Married to Linda and settled permanently in USA. They have three

children.

(C-1-A-1) Daughter : Amy

Married to Mr. Russ, a US citizen. They have a daughter born in

2007

(C-1-A-2) Son :- Aroon

Age-25 years, studying in USA.

(C-1-A-3) Daughter : Andrea

Married to Mr. Andrews, settled in USA.

Neeta was born on 06P

thP September 1956 and was married to Shri

Lalit Mulchandani of Mumbai. The marriage was not successful and they

divorced on 21P

stP November 1983. They had one son.

Neeta later married Mr. Jim Edward of Keylabro Florida (USA) on 3P

July 1993. Both husband & wife are is real estate business. Jim Edward

had two sons from the first wife, named James & Reed, both settled in

USA.

rdP Mar 1980, currently studying in USA.

(C-2) SON :- LATE SATENDRA KUMAR JAIN

Satendra Kumar Jain was married to Dr. Savitri Jain d/o Late Shri

Padam Chand Gupta of Happy School Daryaganj Delhi. Dr. Satendra Jain,

after graduation from Mumbai, did his doctorate from USA and after

working for some time in India, permanently shifted to St. Louis USA. He

died on 5P

thP May 2004. Dr. Savitri Jain, a cardiologist is now living in St.

Louis (USA). They had three children.

(C-2-A) Son:- Sanjay Jain

A lawyer by training, is married to Brooks Critchfield and lives in St. Louis,

USA. They have three children,

(C-2-A-2) Son:- Harrison Conner.

(C-2-A-3) Daughter:- Isabella Victoria.

(C-2-B) Daughter:- Monica

Monica is married to Ramy Garderet and lives in California. They have two

children.

(C-2-B-1) Son :- Dante

(C-2-B-2) Daughter :- Zoe

(C-2-C) Daughter :- Neena

A Doctor, married to Bill Rohs and lives in Colorado USA.

(C-3) DAUGHTER:- LATE SAROJ JAIN

She was married to Shri Roop Chand Jain of Mumbai who was doing

his own flourishing business. Saroj Jain died on 13P

thP Mar 1981. Shri Roop

Chand Jain is living alone now. They had four children.

(C-3-A) Son:- Shri Vikram

Married to Neeta of Mumbai doing own consultancy settled in

Nairobi. They have two children.

(C-3-A-1) Daughter:- Shivani age 8 yrs.

(C-3-A-2) Daughter:- Tanya age 5 yrs.

Both studying in Nairobi.

(C-3-B) Daughter:- Alka

Alka Jain was born as a normal child but had fever at the age of 5

years due to which she derailed mentally and suffered from frequent fits.

She finally died at the age of 32 years on 21P

stP September 1987.

(C-3-C) Daughter:- Preeti

Married to Shri Anil Mittal of Delhi. They have wholesale business in

Paper. They have two children.

(C-3-C-1) Son:- Ashish married and have one daughter.

(C-3-C-2) Daughter:- Priyanka

(C-3-D) Daughter:- Smita

Married to Shri Shekher of Ranchi. He deals in share market & is

permanently settled on Mumbai. They have moved into the residence of

Late Shri Balwant Rai Jain at Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road.
