Cinco De MayoCinco de Mayo commemorates the triumph of a small

Mexican army over French forces in an 1862 battle. It is often a weekend-long or even a week-long

celebration. Cinco de Mayo parties are focused on music, dancing, food and fun with the underlying

message of freedom and liberty. The kids will celebrate the day by designing their own

sombrero and dance to Mexican influenced music.

Korean Children’s DayThis South Korean Holiday, founded by the Korean children’s writer and storyteller Bang Jung-hwan, in

1923 as a way to instill in the children a sense of independence and national pride.

Traditionally, children and parents will enjoy the day together at zoos and amusement parks

of the child's choice. USAG-Humphreys CDC is fondly named after Dr. Bang

and they will celebrate the day by playing Korean Childrens games.

May Technology TipIn this digital world most, if not all, of our photograph memories

and important documents are stored on our computers hard drive. Do you have a backup in case of failure?

One of the facts about technology is that electronics can be unpredictable, and devices can fail at anytime for a variety of reasons. Take the time to backup all of your important data now to prevent a disaster.

External storage devices, optical media and even online storage solutions can be used to back up data you don’t want to lose. The idea is to be able to say “I’m glad I did” instead of “I wish I had”.

Army Family Covenant: Keeping the Promise

CAPTAINS JAMES AND MICHELLE MEDWICK, DUAL MILITARY FAMILY

For James and I to be successful in our Army careers, we have had to ask for a lot from our Family members. The Army Family Covenant recognizes the sacrifice and

commitment that our son and Family have made to support our careers and has established programs

to overcome this adversity. The Strong Bonds retreats are one program that

has allowed our Family the opportunity to mitigate the effects of deployment.

Humphreys Youth Receives Personal Message from White House

USAG-Humphreys fourth grader, Joel Tinsley, received a personal package directly from the White House last month. Mr. Burkket, Tinsley’s teacher, gave the class an art

assignment and Joel chose to draw President Obama. His teacher liked the picture so much that he suggested they send it to the White House. Much to their surprise, they received a package in the mail thanking them for the picture and an autographed picture of the President, First Lady and their dog Bo.

Tinsley is the son of proud parents Meyer and Dong Mi Ragin.
