experiences as they come.
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; On purpose, in the present moment, nonjudgmentally.” ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn

Being a board member is an opportunity to learn new skills and make a positive contribution to our community while at the same time sharing your own education, skills and talents. The role of the Board of Directors is to provide governance to our organization. They work quietly behind the scenes making decisions that result in positive and significant changes at the centre. These changes encourage growth and improvement in our programs and services. Board volunteers give a precious resource - their time. If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity please call Pam.

Everything I Need To Know I Learned From the Easter Bunny
Do you have a Family Care Plan?
The Family Care Plan (FCP) is designed to ensure that you have a plan in place to care for your family in
the event of an emergency callout, planned deployment or unforeseen situation. Share your plan with the caregivers identified in your FCP so that they are prepared to assist your family as quickly as possible in
times of emergency. At a lost on where to start? We can help.
If all else fails, be assured that the Emergency Child Care program will be there to provide immediate,
qualified and subsidized care to support your Family Care Plan. Our Emergency Child Care Program is designed to be a back up plan in case your FCP fails. Our program is accessible 24 hrs a day. For more
information about our Emergency Child Care policy (emergency child care, respite and casual care), please call Diane.
Don’t put all your eggs in the same basket.
Walk softly and carry a big carrot.
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
There’s no such thing as too much candy.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.
Some body parts should be floppy.
Keep your paws off other people’s jellybeans.
The grass is never greener in someone else’s basket.
An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare.
To show your true colours you have to come out of your shell.

ROAD TO MENTAL READINESS (R2MR) TRAINING An Educational Deployment Training Offered to Spouses
One-on-one training session
Road to Mental Readiness is a Deployment Educational Training Program to better equip members
and their families with Pre-deployments, Deployments, Post-Deployments and absences due to frequent trainings.
Deployment is a fact of military life. For most CAF personnel the opportunity to deploy around the
world, making a difference in lives of others is what prompted their desire to join in the first place. However, for military families, managing deployments can be particularly challenging: extended
separations, increased workloads, anxiety over the safety of their loved one, and managing transition and reintegration issues upon completion of the tour all amount to stress.
Overall Objectives of R2MR Training Better understand the familial challenges associated with deployment
Increase awareness about mental health
Learn new tools and approaches to manage familial stress of deployment
Recognize personal and external resources to foster mental health and well-being in the family.
Separations can be hard. Come on over to your Military Family Resource Centre and let’s get
together for approx. 2 hours and we’ll do the training program to better assist you and your family with the deployment of your loved one. For more information contact Linda.

We are excited to introduce you to Alexis!
This is 3 year old Alexis, her brother Kayden and her
mother Joleen. You could say that even before Alexis
was born, she knew what military life was all about!
Her mother served in the military while she was
pregnant with Alexis! Alexis was born in Victoria, B.C.
and didn’t experience her first real northern winter until
she was 2 years old when her Dad was posted to
Northern Ontario. Alexis’ brother Kayden is 6 years old,
was born in Belleville, ON and has already had 3
military family relocations! Joleen describes Alexis as
“someone who easily fits in and makes friends in any
situation, I think that is a benefit of being a military
child”. We loved having Alexis drop into the MFRC,
thank you for your service as a military child Alexis and
Kayden!
We are excited to introduce you to Alston and Kayla! This is 4 year old Alston and his sister Kayla. Alston did his first military move, to North Bay when he was10 months old! And what a move it was, all the way from San Antonio, Texas! Kayla has also experienced her fair share of military moves, from Virginia, across the southern United States and finally to CFB North Bay. This southern girl doesn't like the cold and snow, but finds North Bay summers fantastic! Alston has a lot of energy and loves school, going to the gym and playing outside! Sometimes shy, he warms up quickly and loves to tell jokes. Alston's mom Tracy says that travelling and staying in a hotel is very exciting to Alston. His excitement and positive outlook about travel makes the challenges of relocation easier for all of us!
April is the month of the Military Children
In celebrating we would like to recognize some of children at 22 Wing North Bay.

sionnantes.
