Family Life Ministries is growing and would like to find out how we can best serve your

parish. We've created a blog, are hosting workshops and seminars, and are in the

process of creating modules, but we’d like to have your input. We are inviting each

parish to help develop this ministry as a grass roots effort so we can better serve your

needs.

At this time, we are seeking representatives in each parish that will act as a liaison be-

tween the ministry and the parish. Representatives would be dedicated and committed

laypeople who will work hand in hand with their Priest and the Family Life Ministry to

assist in facilitating effective communication.

This ministry also works in partnership and cooperation with the Greek Orthodox Arch-

diocese of America’s Department of Marriage and Family. We are also pan-Orthodox,

reaching across jurisdictional lines to offer any fruits of the ministry to all Orthodox

faithful, unto God’s glory.

The mission of the Metropolis of Atlanta Pre-marital ministry is to provide the Archdiocesan Journey of Marriage seminar to every cou-

ple getting married in the Orthodox Church.

This mission is being implemented by training both clergy and lay facilitators in the Journey of Marriage seminar so that they can pro-

vide this seminar to couples getting married in their parish and region. After clergy and lay facilitators have completed their training,

they co-facilitate seminars with an experienced facilitator until they are qualified to conduct the seminar independently. As a result,

the Metropolis of Atlanta Pre-marital ministry strengthens relationship between the couples and the Church, provides clergy with pas-

toral care skills and resources and assists couples to enter into the Sacrament of Matrimony more prepared.

Website and BlogWebsite and BlogWebsite and BlogWebsite and Blog

Through the Family Life website and blog, we provide excellent resources of Orthodox materials to assist the healthy development

and maintenance of Christ-centered marriages and families. Topics include marriage at all stages of life, parenting, single life, grief,

single parenting, substance abuse, stress, communication, trauma, Church etiquette, common Church myths and more.

Please pray for us that God would direct this ministry and that our efforts

would be in His will.

“We need a revolution in our family life. We need to fire a shot heard round the world calling our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters to come together again and put aside the shackles of screen addictions and activities to make the church in the home.”

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Fa-

ther of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the

whole family in heaven and earth is

named...that Christ may dwell in your hearts

through faith; that you, being rooted and

grounded in love, may be able to compre-

hend with all the saints what is the width and

length and depth and height--to know the

love of Christ which passes knowl-

edge..." (Ephesians 3:14-19)

CENTER FOR FAMILY CARE

The con-ference was attended by members of Clergy, Parish leadership and laity representing Metropolises nation-wide.

Keynote speakers included: His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, Rev. Fr. Constantine Sitaras, Rev. Fr. Anthony Coniaris, Rev. Fr Harry Pappas and guest speaker, Jim Burns, Executive Director of HomeWord Center for Youth and Family.

Conference workshops covered Making your Parish a Family, Outreach to our Missing Parish Family Members, Using Technology to Reach Parish Family, Religious Educa-tion across the Family/Development Life Span, Creating

Space for Teens and Parents to Talk about their Faith, Tech-nology & Family and the Church in the Home.

The Center for Family Care of our Archdiocese works

closely with all Metropolises and Parish communities to grow and sustain healthy and vibrant Family Minis-

try supporting the needs of the Body of Christ. The Atlanta Family Life Ministry is working to implement

many of the tools and information received at this conference to further enhance programs and resources already in place as well as to increase and grow this

ministry by supporting our Metropolis parish commu-nities at both the parish and Metropolis levels.

Through this Ministry, our Faithful will be able not only to learn life skills but also and more im-

portantly, they will be guided to nurture a personal, vital and living faith. I urge you, because

many people are seeking help, information and guidance, to participate in these programs that

strengthen our marriages and our families. If we do not offer them help and guidance from our

Orthodox faith, they will look elsewhere. This is why it is so important that we make it a priority

to guide and support our families in strengthening their relationships to each other and to our

Orthodox faith.
