FALL KICKOFF 2018 Even though the weather didnt cooperate (to the tune of 8.5 inches of rain on Friday and Saturday), we had a good time of food and fellowship at the Fall Kickoff event held indoors on Sunday night, September 9th. Families and individuals were able to talk and laugh and share as the young (and not so young) played 9-square, gaga ball and Laser tag while waiting for supper to be served. Thank you to everyone who came out and who contributed to cooking and getting everything ready and cleaned up. Our goal is to kick off each fall semester in similar fashion, giving you the opportunity to rub shoulders with your church family in a way that doesnt happen on Sunday mornings. In order to do that we need people who have the gift of hospitality and a love to serve to help organize events like this one. If you are interested, please contact the church office. FALL KICKOFF 2018

Even though the weather didn’t cooperate (to the tune of 8.5 inches of rain on Friday and Saturday), we had a good

time of food and fellowship at the Fall Kickoff event held indoors on Sunday night, September 9th.

Families and individuals were able to talk and laugh and share as the young (and not so young) played 9-square,

gaga ball and Laser tag while waiting for supper to be served. Thank you to everyone who came out and who

contributed to cooking and getting everything ready and cleaned up.

Our goal is to kick off each fall semester in similar fashion, giving you the opportunity to rub shoulders with your

church family in a way that doesn’t happen on Sunday mornings. In order to do that we need people who have

the gift of hospitality and a love to serve to help organize events like this one. If you are interested, please

contact the church office.

Four Deacons Ordained

On September 9th, Pat Hays, Ivan

Mosbarger, James Patrick, and John

Tierney were called forward in 3rd

service to be ordained into service as

Deacons at FCC. These four men join

the other nine deacons in service.

Being a deacon is a call to lead in

service in the congregation. There are

certain tasks that we ask every deacon

to do, like serving communion in service and to shut ins. We also ask them to lead in

significant ways in the ministries according to their gifts and abilities.

Please join us in praying for these four men and our other deacons as they lead and serve

significantly in the ministries of the church.

BY-LAWS UPDATE

This is a follow up to last month’s item about the bylaws vote to be held on Sunday,

October 7. By now all members should have received the final copy by email. If

you have not, or if you want a paper copy, please contact the office. There are two

basic reasons for the update. The first is to align our church governance better with

Scripture; the other is to empower ministries and give them ownership of their

work. This comes after two years of prayer and many information sessions, meet-

ings, and discussion. The board approved the final edits at their meeting in Septem-

ber.

There will be a short congregational meeting at the end of each worship service on

October 7, at which we will distribute and collect the ballots. This is the only pur-

pose of meeting. If you have questions about the content of the bylaws after reading

your copy, please contact Louis Williams or Ivan Mosbarger.

FCC Family Fall Fest

Sunday, October 21st

The fun begins at 4:00 p.m.

& ends with a

bonfire and worship.

Make sure to mark

your calendars.
