Come help us celebrate our 93rd year with lots of fun at our old fashioned fall fair. We will be featuring Agriculture, Local Entertainers, AgriTourism, 100 Mile Diet, 4H Beef & 4H Horse Club demonstrations. Home grown and home mades good - challenge your friends and neighbors, enter your goods in friendly competition for special ribbons and cash prizes.

Aims and Objectives:

1. To hold an annual fair which will be a showcase of the finest local livestock, farm and garden produce, baking, preserves, crafts and youth exhibits.

2. To demonstrate the value of Agriculture to our economy through various displays and activities.

3. To show the “Country Side of Life” to people who may not be familiar with it, thereby promoting a sense of understanding and co-operation for the benefit of all.

PLEASE READ ALL RULES CAREFULLY!!!

On Stage: Local Entertainers

1. All entries must be made on official entry forms. Only ONE exhibitor per entry form.

2. All entry fees for 2011 will be $1.00 per sheet (for 1 entry up to 10 entries the fee is $1.00, so try to fill your page).

4. A student MUST decide whether he/she wants to enter the Student or Open Section where the same class exists. This will eliminate double entries.

5. Entry Registrations: Entry forms MUST reach the Executive Secretary at Box 95, Creston, BC, V0B 1G0 on or before Monday, September 5, 2011 by 4:00 pm. Forms can also be dropped off at the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce (across from ABC) by 4:00 pm on Monday, September 5, 2011. THIS WILL ENSURE THAT ALL FORMS WILL BE PROCESSED. There will be an early entry deadline of 4:00 pm, August 31, 2011. Entries received by then will be entered into a draw for a special prize.

6. Booth set up and exhibits MUST be brought into the Creston Recreation Centre between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Thursday, September 8. All

exhibits are to be in place by 9:00 pm. ALL EXHIBITORS MUST VACATE THE BUILDING BY 9:30 pm Thursday. ONLY LARGE livestock is to be brought to the Creston & District Community Complex before 9:00 am on Friday. Judging will take place Friday morning.

7. Exhibitors with 20 or more entries may pick up their entry tags, Wednesday between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm at the Creston & District Community Complex.

8. Exhibits brought to the Creston & District Community Complex Thursday evening, which have not been entered, will be Labelled - “FOR DISPLAY ONLY”, and THEY WILL NOT BE JUDGED.

9. All individual exhibits MUST be grown or made by the exhibitor within the past year. No person is allowed to have more than ONE ENTRY in the same class. Additional entries will be marked “FOR DISPLAY ONLY.”

10. EXHIBITS MUST NOT BE REMOVED from their positions before 6:00 pm Saturday. All exhibits must be picked up between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm Saturday. Creston Valley Fall Fair will not be responsible for items not picked up at this time.

11. Award presentations will be at 5:00 pm on Saturday. 12. In the absence of competition in any class, the judges will give awards as they deem worthy. An only entry in any one class will not necessarily be given a ribbon.

13. All protests must be made IN WRITING and handed to the Convenor in charge of the section by 7:00 pm Friday. The judges’ decision will be final. 10. The Association will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or accident whatsoever in connection with the exhibits or property.

There will be cash prizes and the points will be used to determine the aggregate winners.

12. Cash prizes will be available Saturday at 6:00 pm and available for 1 week after at the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce. Any money not picked up will be donated back to the Creston Valley Fall Fair.

This contest is open ONLY to ALL non-profit groups or fund raising organizations.

Please register your entries early, stating the name of your group, contact name and phone number and a brief description of the project that you are raising funds for.

Your Scarecrow must be ready for display and must be set up on Thursday, September 8th, 2011.

WINNING TIPS:Rings should be removed, cleaned and replaced. Rings must be removable.

DO NOT un-seal jar lids. Jars must be clean and clearly labelled as to the contents, date, time and method of processing. All entries must have been preserved in the last 12 months. Only name brand canning jars accepted except where specified.

Follow this Recipe:1C Sugar3/4C Margarine or butter, softened1/4 C Molasses1 Egg2 1/4 C All purpose flour2 tsp Baking soda1 tsp Cinnamon1/2 tsp Salt1/2 tsp Ginger1/2 tsp Cloves1/4 tsp Nutmed1/4 C Sugar

In bowl beat 1 cup sugar, butter, molasses and egg until light and fluffy. Stir in remaining ingredients except 1/4 C sugar. Mix well, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 hour for easier handling.Heat oven to 350˚ F. Shape dough into 1 inch balls, roll in the reserved sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until set. (Cookies will puff up and then flatten during baking) Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely.
