Presented by Geoffrey Parker, Professor, Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth College and co-Author of “Platform Revolution”

Uber.  Airbnb.  Amazon.  Apple.  PayPal.  All of these companies disrupted their markets when they launched. Today they are industry leaders who are built on platforms:  two-sided or multi-sided markets that are revolutionizing the way business is done.  The platform model is transforming a diverse set of industries including retail, mobility, and finance; healthcare is likely to follow soon. During this session, Profession Parker will present the power of the platform – a powerful business model that uses technology to connect people, organizations, and resources in an interactive ecosystem in which the locus of value creations shifts from inside to outside the organization. He will share his insights on how healthcare is likely to move toward a platform strategy, the impact for both providers and suppliers, and how you can be better prepared for the platform revolution.

3.The Power of Optimizing Surgical Assets

Presented by: Janelle Begole, Senior Director of Corporate Accounts and Steve Mackay, Senior Vice President, Aesculap

US Hospitals invest millions of dollars in surgical Instrumentation.  They spend millions reprocessing their surgical fleets to deliver instrument sets to the operating room .   Yet many lack transparency to the quality, quantity, condition, processes, and value of these surgical assets until a case is delayed, a surgeon voices quality concerns, or an instrument is missing.  Such occurrences  create a surgical gap which can be avoided by adopting Surgical Asset Management best practices.  This session will provide educational insights to gain control, improve surgical outcomes, and optimize your fleets to drive cost savings.
