WRESTLING

The Lake Orion Youth Wrestling Club is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all new and returning wrestlers from the Lake Orion community and surrounding areas. Each year we have over 80 wrestlers ranging from all different skill levels and wrestling experience. The Lake Orion Youth Wres-tling program is designed and broken down for all individuals to advance at a pace that best suites them. The club's main goal is to teach wrestling in a competitive, yet fun environment, and to develop a young wres-tler's potential through goals, commitment, and hard work. The coaching staff emphasizes life lessons through the importance of teamwork, respect, perseverance, and above all, fun. We invite your wrestler to join our club and develop his or her skills and techniques in the great sport of wrestling. A mandatory meeting for all parents, new and returning, will be held on Thursday, November 8. This meeting is for parent(s) only. A copy of your child’s birth certificate is required to be turned in to the club at the meeting. Every wrestler, new and returning, must have a copy of a birth certificate submitted. This is a league require-ment and is required each season. Wrestlers will not be able to participate in practices or tournaments until a copy of a birth certificate is on file. The registration fee for the beginner and tournament levels includes a t-shirt and payment for league registration fees for, both, MMWA (Mid-Michigan Wrestling Association) and MYWA (Michigan Youth Wrestling Association). Find us at: Email: [email protected] Website: www.loywc.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LOYouthWrestlingClub/ BEGINNER LEVEL, AGES 4-11 The Beginner Level is designed for first year wrestlers and returning Novice (beginner) Division tournament wrestlers still working and on building basic skills and techniques. Practices will focus on Folkstyle wrestling techniques. Parent participation during practice is welcomed and recommended for this level. No wrestling ex-perience is necessary for a parent helper. The coaches appreciate assistance with management of the younger wrestlers and relaying information to them during partner workouts. Plus, it gives the parent the opportunity to learn how to practice wrestling moves at home with their wrestler. All wrestlers compete as individuals in this club. In other words, there are no team tournaments. The club encourages all beginner wrestlers to participate in at least one, or more, league tournaments sometime during the season. First year wrestlers wanting to com-pete in a league tournament will be registered in the Novice Division. Note: The Beginner Level is NOT for Open Division tournament wrestlers, or Middle School wrestlers. Eleven year olds must be in 5th grade for the 2018-19 school year in order to participate in this level. 2170F18 Tues/Thur LOHS Wrestling Room 11/13-3/21 6-7 p.m. 32 classes $130 TOURNAMENT LEVEL, AGES 6-14 The Tournament Level is designed for wrestlers with previous league tournament experience in Open Division. The club offers coach led practices to Middle School wrestlers that may, or may not, be inter-ested in competing in youth league tournaments, but plan on joining the Lake Orion Middle School Team in Feb-ruary. League tournaments are available, but are not expected. Middle School wrestlers that join the Lake Orion Middle School Team must abide by the MHSAA rulings when entering youth tournaments in order to remain eli-gible for the team season, not the club. The LOYWC and Middle School Team are two separate groups and have specific bylaws and rules that must be followed. Middle School wrestlers have the option of practicing with the club throughout the Middle School season as well, but it is not expected. Note: Wrestlers must be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade for the 2018-19 school year in order to participate in this level. UNLIMITED WEEKLY CLASSES The definition of insanity, according to Albert Einstein, is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting dif-ferent results. If you are just looking to maintain your current fitness level, you can’t do it with the same old routine. Your body becomes efficient at your chosen exercise routine when it is repeated over and over. Your muscle memory decreases the amount of effort necessary and expanded, thus decreasing your calorie burn. You must switch up your exercises by adding something new and/or cranking up the intensity. That’s why STARZ Fitness has now added a vari-ety of amazing workouts every morning and evening of the week for our unlimited RockSTARZ client! Attend any STARZ classes listed on this page during the session for one LOW price. A wonderful opportunity to provide your body/mind a variety of workout choices. See individual class information for cancellation dates. 4110F18 Mon-Fri Various Locations 9/10-12/14 Various times 14 weeks $179
