#1 Air Force Drill Training

Do you want to be in the Military one day? Are you interested in the JROTC Program at Falcon High School? Students in this course will participate in a Basic Drill Class. This will include stationary drill, marching drill and of course armed drill (with our Air Force practice rifles). There will be 4 senior AFJROTC cadets from Falcon High School here each day to assist as students learn some of the basics with being in a military program.

Students will begin the day learning about Victorian etiquette, manners, and table setting. They will also be informed about the history of Miramont Castle. Additionally, students will study Jane Austen's background and view Pride and Prejudice and/or Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
We will then head over to Miramont Castle where we will go on a self-guided tour of the museum to include the Firemen's Museum. For lunch, we will partake in a Victorian High Tea.
Upon returning to school, we will create Victorian Christmas cards for the staff at Miramont Castle.

Students will learn the history and interesting facts about bowling. They will also learn bowling strategies and techniques before attempting to bowl. Students will learn the scoring process of bowling and how to compare scores in both bowling and laser tag.

Students need to bring their own camera. They can use a phone camera but it will not be as effective. We will go through some mini-lessons through the day on composing a photograph and camera settings, and put what we learn into practice together.

Students will travel to the National Museum of World War II Aviation, receive a tour of the museum including and the Westpac Restorations facility. Students will then learn about the dynamics of flight and create their own paper plane as part of the Keep 'em Flying program.

Students will be allowed to take their products home in a cake box for protection.

This course will involve an experience of watching pieces of the 7 films over the course of the two days, combined with some fun activities, and some discussion of the films compared to the novels. The mini-course will take place at Falcon Middle School, so participants will eat lunch at the school in the Commons, either by purchasing their lunch or bringing one from home.
We will provide some popcorn, drinks, and treats as well as some fun door prizes. Students are encouraged to bring their own snacks.

Thursday, November 16: Students will go to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. At the zoo, they will be asked to photograph 10 animals and take notes on type of animal, scientific name, estimated weight, and one fun fact. They may have to ask a zoo keeper and be resourceful. They will upload the pictures to Google Classroom that evening, and I will print them at WalMart.Friday, November 17: Students will stay at FMS in Classroom 11. They will take a journal (given to them) to record all the details they found yesterday at the zoo and put the pictures in. Since I am a writing teacher, I will make sure they write complete sentences. Mrs. Spillman is a math teacher, so she will help the students compare the weight of the animal to the average weight of a 7th grader.

Then the student will make a pinhole camera from recycled materials. Take pictures with their cameras. Finally, students will work in a darkroom to develop their own photographs.
