Editor’s Letter

It seems as though this year has absolutely flown by and here we are once again getting ready for the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas November 5 - 8, 2013. In case you are

new to the SEMA Show, here is a brief synopsis. The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty products

trade event in the world. It draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more.

SEMA Show 2012 drew more than 60,000 domestic and international buyers. The displays are segmented into 12 sections, and a New Products Showcase featured nearly 2,000 newly introduced parts, tools and components. In addition, the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more…

Note: The SEMA Show is a trade-only event and not open to the general public.

Our team will be there scouting out new products and staying abreast of cutting-edge technology and innovation. New things are out all the time and SEMA is the best place to find them all under one roof.

Also, in this issue you will find some new products that we’ve already brought to you in addition to new vehicle reviews and great outdoor reads with a destination piece on Mexico Beach (Florida) and a scalloping trip with Capt. Mark!

When you are finished with this issue, do us a favor, pass it on to a family member or friend. If you use the products from any of our advertisers, please let them know where you saw them...Sportsman’s Gear magazine!

Take care until next time ~

Dee Zee

W W W. S P O R T S M A N S G E A R M A G . C O M 9

Dee Zee has been making tool boxes for years and one of the categories that gets the

most attention is that of Liquid Transfer Tanks. It’s understood that tanks are a “need” item, not merely a cosmetic add-on that improves the look of a pickup. Running boards, bed protection, and tube products are required in a lot of situations but customers use them to accent styling preferences almost as much functional accessories. With transfer tanks, you either need it or you don’t.

That being said, Dee Zee spends countless hours of engineering ensuring they have the style, size and capacity that you need in any situation.

Begin with your choice of material. Non-rusting Brite-Tread aluminum offers the benefit of lighter weight with the diamond pattern synonymous with Dee Zee storage products. Aluminum tanks are available either uncoated or with a gloss black powder coat. Or you could opt for the more economically priced tanks made from tough, 14-gauge steel. They are protected with a white or black NRT™ coating designed specifically to increase corrosion protection.

Dee Zee also takes into account the variety of transportation possibilities, offering styles like L-shaped, square, long or short rectangles. Capacities range anywhere between 38 up to 108 gallons. If you require wet and dry storage, you might choose one of the many combo tanks. All the same features of the standard tanks with a perfectly matched utility chest bolted on for tools or other gear.

Many of the great features are the same across all tank formats. One of the newest upgrades was the increase of internal baffles from one to three. Baffles create compartments inside the tank to control the movement of liquid. Radius bends allow liquid to move freely inside the tanks at the corners while reducing weld points. Lockable breathing caps reduce pressure when the tank is in motion and eliminates the vacuum when pumping liquid out of the tank. Also standard on all tanks are drain plugs and welded feet to assist in mounting.

The latest additions to the line are the auxiliary tanks, which feature everything you expect from Dee Zee tanks with the ability to feed directly into the fuel line of your diesel vehicle. Four

styles are available in aluminum bodies hydrostatically pressure tested to 29 psi. (Federal regulation 178.814)

Dee Zee auxiliary tanks meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration r e q u i r e m e n t s a n d F e d e r a l D O T requirements for UN31A and UN31B tanks. It’s strongly recommended to always check local rules and regulations before altering your OEM fuel system.

Along with the auxiliary tanks, Dee Zee offers connector kits that feed diesel directly into the fuel line. All hoses and hardware are included and some cutting is required.

When it’s time for you to transport non-flammable liquids, Dee Zee has a safe and easy way to get the job done.

Driven by growth and the insatiable need to advance, the toughest roll cover on Earth

continues to thrive, even in the tough times. Truck Covers USA persists in the creation of new products and expansion of their customer base.

Exceeding expectations within brand name recognition and sales has not been an easy task during the economic downward spiral. Hanging tough in challenging times is something that Truck Covers USA knows well. Truck Covers USA began manufacturing and distributing their first roll cover tonneau line in 2001, at a facility in San Diego, CA. Twelve years and nine SEMA Shows later, they prepare for their biggest year yet! They have experienced substantial growth in their dealer network a n d f l e e t i n d u s t r y business

since SEMA 2012. It was at this show, that they wowed attendees and exhibitors alike, and as they plan for SEMA 2013 and beyond, they are confident that they will continue to be the name associated with the finest high-end tonneau cover. A two-time SEMA Award Winner (2006 & 2009), Truck Covers USA is truly an industry leader.

Their signature product is the American Roll Cover. With 12 years in the industry and a strong commitment to quality, Truck Covers USA has gained

a reputation in the market f o r h a v i n g the very best product and p r o v i d i n g

unparalleled

service to their customers. They insist upon employing a team of highly trained staff, unrelenting in revolutionizing design, insist upon state of the art materials and are uncompromising when it comes to the smallest details to provide the best possible products to their customers. Driven by both consumer feedback and a passion for excellence, they produce superior products for the industry.

The company’s success has proven that there is a huge demand for a high-quality, premium roll cover. They’ve also proven that price becomes less of an issue when the consumer is buying quality, durability and can see the value. Nils Forssman, President of Truck Covers USA, believes that the truck marketplace has evolved into a showplace of possibilities and opportunities. Truck Covers USA is continually perfecting and upgrading their signature product, the American Roll Cover, with new innovations and options. They discovered another niche in the market and developed the American Work Cover, a tool box and roll cover

combination. “The cover is awesome looking

with the same unsurpassed quality,” says Forssman. “A must have for any work truck and an industry first.”

“Consumers are smart,” continues Forssman. “They do their homework, c o m p a r e c o v e r s a n d k n o w t h e differences. They are prepared to pay for quality that comes with value and durability. Truck Covers USA will continue to improve and revolutionize the roll cover industry with their innovat ive research and product development.” Forssman also says that the company is committed to educating those retail truck accessory dealers who do not yet know enough about Truck Covers USA and its products.

With new innovative features and products for 2014, Truck Covers USA sets itself apart from the competition. “The company is not in business to produce truck covers that represent the industry standard, they are in business to become the industry standard,” says Forssman. “After seeing the number of requests rapidly growing for the American Roll Cover to be modified to fit a particular truck bed along with an existing tool box, research and development was implemented to combine these two much needed products for the ideal work truck combinat ion; Securi ty, Style and Simplicity,” he added. The American Work Cover has become the preferred unit for fleets across the nation.

Fleet business is a market that once tapped successfully, with the right quality products, is gold. With GSA (Government) Contract approval, Truck Covers USA covers some of the best fleets in the nation – U.S. Marine Corp, Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), DEA, FBI, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Forest Service, State & City Police and Fire Depts., City & County Water and Utility Depts., and private sector fleets. When it comes to retractable Tonneau covers, Truck Covers USA is #1 in this market from both a product and customer service standpoint. Truck Covers USA is the industry leader.

Project Truck

What happens when Stacey David, host of GEARZ (MAVTV), teams up with John Godwin from the popular TV Show Duck Dynasty? Well, Moby Duck, of course!

Last year for the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Skyjacker Suspensions under the direction of Lee McGuire facilitated the project of decking out Willie Robertson’s truck and had it on display in the Skyjacker booth. The project went over so well with attendees of SEMA that Skyjacker decided to do a part two: John Godwin’s truck! And yes, the truck will be featured in the Skyjacker booth at SEMA with John and Willie available to sign autographs.

Recently, on an episode of GEARZ, Stacey gives John Godwin’s GMC 2500 an overhaul that includes a 6” lift, 35” tires and massive bumpers and winch that will pull just about anything out of the mud. Stacey show John how this big white beast can take him from everyday driving to hunting, fishing and just about anything a Duck Commander would want to do. The episode, aptly named Moby Duck, can be viewed at: http://staceydavid.com/episodes/moby-duck-truck.

A little about Stacey DavidStacey David’s interest in restoring cars developed at a young age

as he helped restore his sister’s 1963 VW bug. Building go-karts with blazing engines followed and soon after, Stacey realized his true passion for 4-wheel driving and off-roading through his dad’s flat fender Willys Jeep. Today, that passion has grown into a business and hit TV show.

A little about Skyjacker SuspensionsSkyjacker is a Christian-based company proven in the field of

suspension systems, lift kits and systems, and all the necessary components and accessories that go along with that. People who enjoy conquering the great outdoors, those who want to go farther and conquer more territory…those are their customers.

Skyjacker has been around for more than 35 years and is dedicated to the pure passion of off-roading and they strive to “Provide the best designed, advanced engineered, and most innovative suspension that the 4x4 industry has ever seen and used.” You can find them online at Skyjacker.com. SG

New Products

Optronics Unveils Radically New GloLight Series Stop, Tail, Turn Lamps

Optronics International, a leading manufacturer and supplier of heavy-duty LED vehicle lighting, formally debuted its unique new GloLight Series 4- inch round and 6-inch oval LED stop, tail, turn lamps to the transportation industry recently.

The introduction of the GloLight Series represents the first truly different approach to the visual presentation of stop, tail, turn lamps in years. What makes the new lamps visually remarkable is a smoothly illuminated outer band that surrounds a central LED array that remains unlit during standard tail light operation. The dual-function outer ring brightens and the central LED array lights only during stop and turn functions.

All the lamps in the new GloLight Ser ies meet a l l FMVSS 108 and SAE photometric requirements for visibility and safety. The lamps come with a lifetime warranty and are built to be as durable as they are attractive. Lenses and housings are made of tough polycarbonate material that is sonically welded, and the lamps employ a solid-state, surface-mount device (SMD) design that protects their electronics against moisture, shock and vibration.

Optronics has leveraged advancements in diode technology and innovative optic design techniques to achieve the diffused outer ring that gives the GloLight its signature look. With their smooth, glowing outer rings and dark centers, the new lamps fundamentally change the appearance of any vehicle they adorn.

The lamps are available with standard PL-3 and Weather Tight termination options, allowing them to make use of existing harness connections for installation flexibility and cost effective

retrofitting. The new lamps are expected to be widely embraced by the heavy-duty trailer, light-duty trailer, RV, transit and marine markets Optronics currently serves. Product information is available and may be obtained by contacting Optronics or members of its North American distribution network.

Tiger RV Air PurifierSo many RV owners deal with the

constant smell of mildew. We clean and clean, but it seems like there’s no getting rid of it so we get used to it. Well, that’s because the ‘smell’ comes mainly from a living organism--mold. And if you spend time in your RV, you and your family are inhaling mold spores, bacteria, and other pollutants (dust, dust mites, pollen, carpet fiber, etc) that become airborne with any movement, foot traffic, etc. And RV air conditioners don’t help, either. Most of us don’t have time to clean them like we need to and because of condensation / leaks, they often add to the problem. And who wants another sinus infection or allergy / asthma attack

to ruin a vacation? Is there anything we can do?

The answer is yes! The Tiger Ozone-Free Air Purifier is one of the best air purifier values on the market today. This unit features a powerful, 2 year HEPA filter to remove mold spores, bacteria and other particles, healthy negative ions to destroy viruses and bacteria, and inhibit mold growth, a washable, activated carbon filter to kill odors from mildew, pets, and smoke, automatic sensors that will turn the unit on / off when pollutants are detected, timers, 3 speeds, a remote control, and a cool, blue light around the edge that you can turn on/off. All for $149! This remarkably powerful air purifier is light, portable, and great for hotel rooms, lodges, too!

With the Tiger Ozone-Free Air Purif ier, you can get r id of that mildew smell, safeguard your family’s health, cut down on allergies /asthma/sinus issues, and make sure you enjoy that vacation you’ve worked so hard for. Order yours TODAY online at www.airpurifiersandcleaners.com or call Rex Murphy Toll-Free at1-800-701-2513!

AIRAIDThe 2013 GM HD-family of trucks

now boast more power and torque than ever before thanks to some refinements to the Duramax 6.6L powerplant. After extensive research and development, AIRAID was able to unlock an impressive 29 additional horsepower and 55 lb-ft of torque for the 2013 trucks with a new MXP Cold Air Intake system. This bolt-on intake system delivers impressive power gains, lowers EGT’s, and improves fuel efficiency all at the same time.

The new AIRAID MXP Cold Air Intake system starts with a one-piece roto-molded cold air-box that features massive air inlets, and a new modular intake tube that is designed for unrestricted air flow to the engine. Inside the box is an enormous 1700-CFM washable and reusable Premium Air Filter that is available with either traditional oiled filter media or our SynthaMax® DRY filtration technology. All AIRAID filters are hand-poured using a special urethane blend that prevents cracking and shrinkage in the most extreme conditions.

The key difference with this kit is the location of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors on the intake tube. By eliminating restrictions in the factory intake tube and optimizing the location of each sensor, AIRAID is able to deliver impressive

power increases while maintaining proper air / fuel ratios (and lower EGT’s) without the need for aftermarket tuning! The new MAF sensor locations require the addition of a pigtail to extend the factory MAF sensor wiring. Featuring GM weatherpack connectors and OE quality construction, this supplied pigtail simply snaps into place and looks just like a factory piece.

Like the rest of the AIRAID product line, the new Duramax MXP intake system comes with all necessary hardware, easy-to-follow instructions, and installs with simple hand tools. The AIRAID system is also backed by AIRAID’s Exclusive “No-Hassle” Warranty. For more information, visit www.AIRAID.com.

of the road, a place where the final trail scoots you through a tunnel of aspen and pin overgrowth and 4-wheel low range feels just right...a place where RVs and toy haulers simply do not go due to the steep and potentially treacherous nature of the trials.

The LittleGiant TreeHaus™ Tent Camper is built upon a ¾ ton pickup bed style trailer designed with a 7’ x 4’6” interior. The solid, all-galvanized construction with 2’ high solid sidewalls holds gear and includes a C-channel track to manage cargo. Both end gates are removable and handy for many utility functions and adaptations.

The TreeHaus™ Tent Camper is transported in knock down form inside the LittleGiant Trailer™ in a compact manner that allows full use of the interior for an extensive amount of gear, anything from luggage to outdoor living furnishings to an ATV. A HexCap™ hard shell tonneau lid, one of two optional covers offered for weather-proof enclosure, is great gear protection in dusty or stormy and muddy conditions.

This trip encountered a weather front, which brought on muddy, slippery road conditions during and after intensive rains. The trailer’s torsion axle suspension and large, 13 inch tires provide 15 inches of ample clearance to handle these varied and rugged all-terrain conditions. Indeed,

the LittleGiant Trailer™ has been coined “the Jeep trailer of all trailers” among discerning users for good reason.

After using several stream crossings to stop and wash off the rapidly accumulating mud, the momentary parting of the clouds into welcomed rays of evening sun, the 20 minute set up from trailer to camper is as swift as the changing of the weather. The HexCap™ lid weighs 50 lbs and is easily removable. Two light aluminum deck panels that store along the inside of the trailer’s sidewalls reposition outward and securely attach to the trailer frame. Both front and rear removable end gates reposition inside the trailer crosswise for a split level sleeping and/or storage surface area. Four feet off the ground on top of the LittleGiant Trailer™, the TreeHaus™ sets up into a large dome with great views and a lot of dry space to spread out and get comfortable.

The camper measures 6 feet 10 inches high by 8 feet 5 inches wide by 7 feet long, and sleeps up to four people with room for standing and gear. Entry doors on both ends with zippered mesh screens, two large bay windows on both sides, and mesh sky view ceiling provides 360 degree visibility and great ventilation. A rain fly, and tie-ins and tie outs, keeps the interior dry and easily withstands the tent industry standard for incremental weather at 35 MPH+. The fabric is a 190 rip stop

polyester with a 2000 mm polyurethane coating, one of the highest quality levels for water resistance among tents that translates into field proven water-proof performance in both spring snowfall to week long socked-in weather conditions.

Together with the ArcHaus Shelter and Tailgate Tent, an optional side room connective attachment rendering an additional 10 feet by 6 feet by 6 feet 6 inches tall of walk-in, walk-out living space, this outback cargo hauler to remote habitat is spacious and comfortable for living and storing gear.

Whether the dest inat ion i s a campground of a remote wilderness location, it is a constant balancing act between what gear we want to take along, and the space available to transport it. Combined with the vehicle outfitted, and the experience is unique to the beholder. With the cargo transport and outdoor living product offerings from Let’s Go Aero, we can redirect our attentions to the wonders of the greater outdoors. On this excursion, excellent cut bank creek fishing and the Colorado Trail in proximity brought long distance foot travelers, pack horseman, and dedicated fly fisherman into our company for neighborly conversation and amusement. “Did you see that moose?” was one visitor’s observation. “Yes,” we said, “we’ve seen him twice.” SG

How we “get away from it all” depends on one’s preferences, along with the camping and play

gear we want to take with us. For those of us that seek the remote wilderness, the kind of equipment will make a significant impact on options about where to go, what to take along, and the essence of the experience.

In the Let’s Go Aero playbook, the ideal means for realizing the ultimate destination is with the LittleGiant TreeHaus™, an all-in-one trailer system designed for cargo, utility, and camping. Thanks to the unique construction and multi-functional aspects of the LittleGiant Trailer™, adventure travel to the best of Colorado’s wilderness where the Wild Things roam is made possible.

An early fall trip to Colorado’s La Garita Wilderness is the focus of this story. Located on the south end of a volcanic caldera ranging 20 miles in diameter in the central part of Colorado, the La Garita Wilderness ranges between 8,000 and 14,000 feet, and has a rugged topography of carved valleys, many small streams, and off-road conditions.

Traveling 180 miles on highways, Forest Service roads, and rugged tributary trails, the LittleGiant Trailer™ was put to the task of crossing the Continental Divide three times in route to its final descent into a perfect valley floor. This is the end

DualLiner

Trucks are our connection to the outdoors, they are the preferred method of transportat ion,

our office on the road and they are an invaluable tool on the construction site. Most of us truck owners would use words like indispensable, crucial, critical, key, vital, necessary and irreplaceable to describe their trucks. This means we need to take care of them to keep them on the road and looking good. One of the most used and abused parts of a truck is its bed, so getting a bed liner is key!

I would like to introduce you to a new type of bed liner called the DualLiner. It is a 5 piece bed liner system that uses hard panels for the load guard, sidewalls and tailgate with a 3/8” thick ZeroSkid™ rubber floor.

DualLiner’s Zero Skid Floor keeps your cargo from sliding or shifting around in the back of your truck. The purpose of this design was to preventing damage occurring to your truck’s box or your cargo. Because of its thickness it is able to absorb incredible amounts of force from even the most extreme cargo, while at the same time being gentle to your precious cargo. Located on the underside

of the mat are hundreds of soft rubber cleats. This keeps the mat from lying flat on your trucks finish, allows for airflow and water drainage through the factory designed drain holes.

Custom Fit sidewalls are designed to follow the precise contour of your specific Year, Make and Model of truck. These hard, custom fit panels are a protective second layer for your sheet metal and provide Real Dent Protection. Unlike a universal drop in bed liner this tight fit prevents the panels from shifting around, eliminates any wasted space, and provides complete access to all of your tie downs. The high grade, UVA/UVB protected material is tough even to stand up to whatever you can throw at it and will never fade or chip – guaranteed!

DualLiner’s interlocking technology makes the 5 pieces come together so they actually perform as one. The component system comes together without any prep-work, drilling or sanding the truck box. The panels lock together with the ZeroSkid Rubber Floor with DualLiners’ unique technology. Located near the bottom of the sidewalls is a “C” channel form to fit the Zero

Skid Bed Mat and helps hold it in place. The Load Guard and Zero Skid Bed Mat interlock with both sidewalls; this prevents cargo from coming into contact with your trucks finish.

The DualLiner installs easily in just minutes. First you slide the Load Guard in place. Next you take one of the side walls and put the top under the bed rail, and then you push the bottom in. Repeat that process on the other sidewall. Roll out the Zero Skid Bed Mat, and tuck it into the “C” channel on the sidewalls. The last step is the tailgate. Once you remove the bolts that hold the Latch assembly, set the tailgate protector in place and reinstall the same bolts. If you sell your truck or if your lease is up, you can reverse the process to take it out.

The DualLiner’s components are built to last and can transfer with you. DualLiner’s goal is to provide the maximum amount of truck bed protection for the life of your vehicle. Peace of mind comes with every DualLiner bed liner system. DualLiner’s Lifetime Warranty covers against defects in material and workmanship for the life of the bed liner. SG

Mexico Beach is a quaint little seaside community situated in the southernmost part of

the Florida Panhandle about 30 minutes or so to the east of Panama City. This unique five-mile beach town sits directly on the Gulf of Mexico close to the mouth of St. Joseph Bay. It is reminiscent of “Old Florida” with only a two-lane highway, no traffic lights and the absence of both chain restaurants and busy shopping malls. Many folks refer to it as the forgotten coast…others call it the unforgettable coast. I say both are accurate.

This Mayberry beach town does not have high rises or traffic lights, but you will find plenty to do and lots to eat! Stop at the Mexico Beach Welcome Center (www.mexicobeach.com) and pick up brochures and ask for information, then head out for fun and frolic!

Let’s go to Mexico Beach… Florida, that is!By Becky J. Beall

Fun ideas…Walk along Highway 98 and duck into cute little shops and just enjoy the scenery.Take a fishing pole out to the beach at dusk and fish right from the shore. Fishing tackle and such can be purchased at the Marina.Walk along the beach at night with flashlights and search for critters.Get an ice cream at Tommy T’s (it’s Blue Bell!) and walk the pier.Rent bicycles and bike the five mile beach town. Pick up groceries and other necessities at Gulf Foods on the left in the center of town (on 98) or Dollar General (a little further down).

Culinary delights…There are some fabulous eateries in

Mexico Beach, but keep in mind this sleepy little town rolls up the sidewalks early, so plan to eat before 8 or 9 p.m. There are many options listed here and all are unique offering totally different menus and atmospheres. Take some time to check them out and tease your palate with all the tastes of Mexico Beach,

where you won’t find the standard chain restaurants.

Toucan’s offers a fabulous assortment of fresh seafood, pastas, salads, burgers and sandwiches, not to mention wonderful desserts. The sweet & spicy shrimp and crab cakes are among this family’s favorites, but you’ll find your own temptations easily enough. Equally enjoyable is the atmosphere and view at Toucan’s. And after dinner, take a stroll through the gift shop for souvenir tee shirts and other memorabilia. Don’t miss Toucan’s where their tagline is right on target – a quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem!

Gourmet by the Bay is a brightly painted roadside food trailer next to Gulf Foods with picnic tables and thatched umbrellas out front. Don’t for a moment underestimate the quality of food that this establishment serves…it is outstanding! They specialize in gourmet tacos, made from scratch beignets, Waldorf chicken salad and quiche. Let me recommend checking out the daily special and a side order of cumin fries… smoky and set apart from standard French fries. Good prices and surprisingly fantastic food!

This three bedroom two bath spacious unit is located on the same level as the pool (a definite plus) and offers a gulf view from the balcony even though it is across the street from the actual beach. There is only a two-lane highway and extremely short walk between this condo and the beach, so that is not a concern. The Perry’s have this unit professionally decorated and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need. Sidewalks run throughout

the village for easy summer strolls. This is another ask for by name unit that you are sure to enjoy if you are a single family and need to sleep up to six folks.

Summary…Mexico Beach is the perfect getaway

for those seeking quiet beaches with an Old Florida style. It is a place where the sand beckons sun worshippers while the juxtaposing water calls to the fishermen and the outdoor enthusiasts. It is designed for the person who loves the quaintness of no stop lights and the eclectic character of multi-colored beach houses. It is for those who desire to please their palates with fabulous beach cuisine in quirky little restaurants. It is for those who enjoy an ice cream in one hand and a fishing pole in the other. But mostly, it is for those searching for the unique unforgettable piece of Florida gulf coast.

Killer Seafood is on the other side of Gulf Foods and while the outer appearance is quite humble, the inside offers seafood delicacies that are…well…killer! Choose from baskets of fried or grilled seafood (shrimp, scallops, oysters, fish, crab cakes, etc.) served with hush puppies, fries or slaw or try the killer fish tacos! They also serve seafood Po’ Boys and killer key lime pie! *NOTE: This restaurant accepts cash only so be prepared.

Mango Marley’s is a fun, family-friendly place to catch your favorite sports team and enjoy awesome wings or a signature dish like Floribbean Fowl (jerk grilled chicken with bacon, cheese and tomatoes served over black beans and rice) or bacon wrapped tiger shrimp served over yellow rice with mango salsa of course! Wash it all down with a Watermelon or Mango Margarita! They live up to their tagline: Floribbean Food, Fun & Rum!

The Fish House is an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This family owned restaurant offers a casual dining

venue specializing in fresh seafood at affordable prices. In fact, every day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. they have a shrimp basket for $6.99! They have won multiple gumbo cook-off awards and feature oysters, shrimp and prime rib daily!

Accommodations…Mexico Beach does not offer dozens

of high rise condos stacked one on top of the other creating beach crowds and riff raff, but what they do offer is low rise condos, motels and beach houses. For all your lodging needs, Forgotten Coast Property Management (www.forgottencoastrental.com) can direct you to the level of accommodations that best suits your family or group. They connected me with two units that were nothing short of spectacular.

The first was a five bedroom duplex (Starr Dust 2) situated directly on the beach only steps from the water. This unit is perfect for a large family, multi-families or a large group. It sleeps 16 and offers great space to move about and enjoy your time on the beach. A fully-appointed kitchen, outside grill and

balconies on every floor make this place ideal for vacationers. It is clearly one of the premier beach houses on this strip of gulf coast. Owners Louis Perino and Anna M. Likos from Atlanta, Georgia, spared no expense in the comfort and decoration of this beach house and graciously allowed me to visit there for a few wonderful days. Ask for this unit and be the envy of all the beach vacationers!

Across the street from this unit sits the low rise condominium complex The Club at Mexico Beach and owners of 2L (Mr. and Mrs. Charles Perry of Murfreesboro, Tennessee) granted me a few days there to check out their unit. This three bedroom two bath spacious unit is located on the same level as the pool (a definite plus) and offers a gulf view from the balcony even though it is across the street from the actual beach. There is only a two-lane highway and extremely short walk between this condo and the beach, so that is not a concern. Falken Tire Readies for Alms Road America Race

As the 2013 American Le Mans Series season crosses the halfway point, Team Falken remains confident it will regain the momentum that has earned it three victories in the latter stages of the last two seasons. With Road America slated for this weekend, the strong duo of Porsche works driver Wolf Henzler and his teammate, veteran driver Bryan Sellers, will have the Team Falken

Porsche 911 GT3 RSR ready and well-prepped for the Orion Energy Systems 245.

“We’ve been working hard to get everything in order,” stated Team Falken Manager Derrick Walker. “From tire development to chassis improvements, we have left nothing unturned and expect a strong effort from our team for both qualifying and the race.”

The layout of Road America has earned the track its reputation as one of the most unique in North America. It’s a favorite among European drivers due to its length of 4.048 miles, which makes Elkhart Lake, as the facility is known among fans and the motorsports industry, the longest track of the ALMS season. Accordingly, high speeds on the long straightway and hard braking are customary throughout the race.

“Team Falken has the capacity to finish well at Road America and all subsequent races this season, especially Baltimore, where we’ve taken the checkered flag the last two years,” noted Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Director of Motorsports Marketing and Consumer Events. “We’ve earned two podium

Forbes names Fish Creek, Wisconsin one of America’s prettiest townsVisitors and residents already familiar with Door County’s charms will not be surprised to learn that Forbes Magazine is spreading the word after naming

Fish Creek, Wisconsin among the top 15 prettiest towns in the country. The announcement of the 15 Prettiest Towns in America came in a recently released story on Forbes.com.

Forbes author John Giuffio consulted with travel experts from Frommer’s, National Geographic, Fodor’s, and Midwest Living Magazine who shared their thoughts on America’s most picturesque towns for the list. According to Forbes, the goal was to find towns “seemingly custom-designed for soaking in the sights, with charming Main Streets, a variety of activities and beautiful vistas. Whether it’s the fresh air, authenticity or lack of skyscrapers, these enchanting locales deserve a spot on your travel to-do list.”

Fish Creek was lauded for “its rural natural setting, and its location as a base from which to explore the entire Door County peninsula… with five Wisconsin state parks located in Door County, together they create an impressive amount of natural wonder to explore.” “It looks like someone built the town in New England and moved it to America’s Heartland,” says Kendra Williams of Midwest Living.

Other towns honored on the list include Kapa’a, Hawaii, Camden, Maine, Breckinridge, Colorado and Ashville, North Carolina.

With 300 miles of shoreline, eleven lighthouses, five state parks, an eclectic art and cultural scene along with boutique shopping, award winning dining options and a wonderful mix of lodging options, this accolade is another beautiful feather in Door County’s destination-award cap. In March 2013, Fodor’s named Door County one of the 10 Best Small Towns in America.

“We’re honored to have one of our Door County communities included on this 15 prettiest towns list from Forbes,” said Jon Jarosh, the Door County Visitor Bureau’s director of communications and public relations. “This sort of national recognition presents an opportunity for us to introduce our destination to travelers who have yet to visit,” Jarosh continued. “It also helps add credibility to our destination on a national level,” he said.

The DCVB is the official tourism marketing organization for the county whose mission is to generate incremental economic impact for the community by attracting visitors with strategies that ensure sustainable tourism. SG
